Customer Reviews

El cheapo. Not so slient, and died in 2.5 months This USB mouse is not a silent mouse. It definitely makes some noise especially the roller. This lasted 2.5 months. Now the left button only clicks randomly sometimes when you push the button not all the time. The $8 price is not bad, but this is not good for the environment that they make something that only lasts a short time. Since other reviews say they don't honor the "lifetime" promise in the title and given the low price, I will just buy another make and throw this one out.At the same time as I bought this one, I had bought "Noiseless USB Optical Gaming Computer Wheel Mouse 1600 DPI Super Quiet JNL-101K Black Silent" which is truly silent, about twice the price (only $17) and still working fine on the other machine. 1Not 'for life' after all. Received this amazingly-quiet clicking mouse on the 13th October 2015. Today is the 8th November - not even a month has gone by since I began using this mouse daily.Over this past week I noticed how many times I would often have to click (I am right handed - so the left side is used most) to just get the mouse to work.I do not press hard when I click, nor does the mouse get thrown around at all - it stays on my desk 24/7.I really wanted this mouse to work for life, like it advertises, but this thing is not functioning as it should less than 1 month out! :(Buyer beware I guess, just another faulty China import to USA.UPDATE: As of around the last week in November 2015, the right-side clicker only actually works a small percentage of time. I normally count multiple click attempts but every 100th time I get something to click with the first press.I purchased a different mouse Tuesday and am using it now.I will throw away this supposed 'for life' mouse as it is truly worthless & not worth the hassle. 2Kensington Silent Wired USB Mouse Performs Excellent Update: 04/09/2018 This mouse-for-life lasted one month. Left button randomly doesn't work. Have to click several times.Kensington Silent Mouse-for-Life Wired USB performs brilliantly but it's not silent. More like muffled or lower volume would be a more accurate way to describe the sound. Anyway, it works great and I don't have to listen to that loud mouse click anymore. I highly recommend this mouse for people that use their computer in a quiet room.Cons: The Kensington mouse connecting USB cable is 6" shorter that my old Logitech USB mouse cable, so I had to purchase a universal USB extension cable below:AmazonBasics USB 3.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female - 3 Feet (2 Pack)Note: I'm happy with my decision to purchase a 2-pack of the cables, because I'm using the other one for the keyboard. Now, both the mouse and keyboard cables are relaxed and I don't have to constantly adjust them. Thank you Kensington and Amazon. 2Left button doesn't work dependably after only 6 weeks. This mouse worked well for about 6 weeks. It was quiet, just like I wanted! I am so disappointed to report that the left mouse button has become less & less responsive. I now have to carefully position my finger on the top outside of the mouse...and click several times before the computer 'hears' the click. So freaking annoying. I'm sorry I didn't listen to others who complained about this mouse. 1Requires firm click action. Tactile feedback is misleading. At the beginning I liked this mouse because of its extremely quiet action. Unfortunately, after three months of relatively light use, the left mouse button requires excessive pressure to actuate a mouse click. Its quiet click is now deceptive. You think you've clicked, but nothing happens. Try again with a firmer click and it works. Bleah.UPDATE: The manufacture replaced the mouse, no problem. The replacement developed the same issue after six months. 1Even more quiet now that it's in the garbage. After about 40 days the buttons are becoming less and less responsive to clicking. I find I have to click twice, being sure to add extra pressure to get the button click to register. Additionally, there's a very faint high pitched sound whenever I move the mouse pointer. I thought I was imagining it, but it gets louder if I put my ear right up to the mouse when moving it. (but maybe the sound is just this unit or combination of this unit and my USB hub) If I put my standard Logitech wired mouse back in, clicking works fine and there's no longer a faint high pitched noise when moving the mouse.Having said all of this, it is remarkably quiet. But it's also not very reliable and seems to be failing very quickly (not even two months) 2Dead mouse...hardly for LIFE! Great alternative to the loud mice that Microsoft and flaky ones that Logitech offers. Unfortunately, it started freaking out after a year or so, not acting like it was...I just it gave it up like most electronics these days....drag was not dragging, click was only being responded by a rather violent CLICK by my right 'click finger', not taking cheese as a bribe (kidding!!). Hey, it's cheap and quieter...only wish they had the ambition to beat Microshaft and create a truly good and durable mouse. Mouse-for-Life? Really? 2No response when clicking I bought this mouse in 2015, because I am often up using my computer when other people are trying to sleep and the click of a normal mouse feels absurdly loud in an otherwise silent home. I loved it. It worked perfectly, it was just the best mouse I have ever used, and it never made a sound. I used it constantly, and it worked really well.In the past couple of weeks, however, when I click the buttons, it often doesn't respond. Doesn't matter how hard I click it, sometimes it doesn't respond, and that frustrates me quite a bit.I see on the listing there's a 5 year limited warranty, but I see no actual information about it other than there's a 5 year warranty & they'll replace it, so I don't have the first idea as to how to actually contact them about it.EDIT: I've contacted the company about the fact that the button doesn't always respond. They offered a few suggestions to fix the issue, all of which I've tried, but to no avail. But their next step is for me to contact them so they can try to fix it over the phone. If the suggestions don't resolve it (the suggestions being, blow some air into it, and trying it on a different computer, just to name a couple), what could they do over the phone to correct the fact that it doesn't click? I thought a warranty meant that, if it stopped working correctly, I could get a replacement. I understand them offering suggestions to fix it - and I was hoping that they would solve the issue - but since the suggestions didn't work, why do I need to call them? As someone who suffers greatly from anxiety and feels nauseous at the mere thought of using the telephone, I don't think that's the right way to handle a malfunctioning product. 2Left Click louder than Right Click Within an hour of use, I noticed that the left click is louder than right click. I don't remember if it arrived like this or had broken over the course of an hour's use. The left click also has a higher pitched sound than the right click. Even so, the left click is still quieter than my Logitech bz96c Logitech 3-Button USB Optical Wheel Mouse - Black . The Kensington let click has a lower pitched 'thud' while the Logitech has the more common high pitched 'click'.The middle click is as quiet as the right click, but higher pitched than the dull thud of the right click.Scrolling has more friction and noise than the Logitech even at slow scroll speeds. At normal scroll speeds, it becomes much louder. The sides of this mouse slope up and in while the Logitech slopes down and in. This way, the Logitech rested 'on' your fingers and require slightly less grip to hold so it was easier to pick up and move. This is a minor point that I will get used to soon enough. If the left click and scrolling were as quiet as the right and middle click, it might be a 4 star mouse. But since all I care about is silence, I will be trying other mice like the Noiseless USB Optical Gaming Computer Wheel Mouse 1600 DPI Super Quiet JNL-101K Black Silent and the TENMOS Computer Wireless Gaming Mouse Rechargeable Optical USB Silent Mouse for Mac/PC/Laptop (White). One reviewer said the TENMOS is quieter than the JNL so I will update this review when I have tested both. 3VERY Happy! Nearly Silent Clicking & Scrolling! I just got two of these and I am VERY happy with how quiet they are. They are nearly silent. Both the clicking and the scrolling are extremely quiet. Not silent, but dang near. If you are looking for a wired mouse that is super quiet this is the mouse for you. 100% satisfied! Would recommend to anyone who wants to make much less noise in the office.Update 4/18/2018 - There is slightly more noise when scrolling up than when scrolling down. But it is still less than half the noise of a standard mouse. Still very happy!Update 5/8/2018 - One last update. Just wanted to let you all know that this is an awesome mouse. I am more than 100% happy with the purchase. Just about silent operation. Seriously, could not be happier. If you are looking for a quite, wired mouse, this is the one. You will not be disappointed!Update 2/13/2019 - After about 10 months of using this mouse, the scroll wheel has started to make a squeaking noise when you scroll. Although I am still happy with the original purchase, I am disappointed that the wheel has started to wear out before we even hit 1 year. But I was so happy with the mouse in the first place I will likely buy other one to replace this one. Still 90% happy after 10 months. 5
