Customer Reviews

Memorable, apparently!Very fond of this product. They stay securely on the ear, easy to handle pause button/Mic, well places on the cord for maintain good sound quality while making calls. My family has used the pause/play button to answer and hang up calls, and to start and stop playback with a variety of android phones and had no problem. The mic part even seems to work with a PS4 controller (although I havent tried to use the play/pause button on it with the PS4 before) The button is easy to reach when you need silence your phone quickly. There was a silver pair I gave to my mother. For Christmas over two years ago, and it lasted quite well, until they went missing. I reccently bought a blue one for myself, and a red and a black for my siblings. As soon as my mother saw them she immediately said "Oh I've been looking for those for months!" And I had to dissapoint her by insisting they were the ones I bought for my brother! In other words, they arent revolutionary sound-wise, but they are dependable, long lasting, comfortable, and do their job. Honestly, my favorite headphones!5I've had 43 Pairs of these Headphones! Here's the problem with these headphones: They simply don't last very long. You'd be lucky if you could get 8-12 months of use! However, the reason I've purchased a total 43 pairs (since 2012) and the reason I still rate them 4-stars is because of Sound Quality, Comfort, and Price. I've searched high and low and I haven't found any over-the-ear clip-style headphones that are this comfortable. Other headphones start to hurt, or fall off of my ear, or both. These JVC Sport headphones stay put, and they stay put comfortably. Then there is the sound quality. I am by no means an audiophile, but I can clearly hear that these headphones sound better to me than any others within this same class, style, and price range. The sound is deep, robust, and crystal clear!Unfortunately, the headphones are physically delicate and you shouldn't expect to have them for a full year without them structurally breaking or, more likely, without them losing sound in one ear (which is their most common problem)... but overall, if you can buy them for under $10 USD or maybe attach a third party warranty to them, then they'll be well worth their flaws while you have them. If you can find better comfort and sound than this at $10 or less, please let me know. I'm always looking! :-)I may have purchased a lot of these headphones since 2012, 4 of them I just purchased new this month (Sept 2019)... but once these 4 all break, I can tell you now, I'm probably going to stock up and buy more after that.Pro Tip: If you do buy these headphones, keep them in a protective case or something when you aren't using them. They still won't last "long" but they'll at least last longer.4A good, inexpensive, jogging headphoneLet me start off by saying that I specifically wanted a wired headphone for jogging because regardless of how "waterproof" they are, they get sweaty and get destroyed eventually. I find wired ones last longer.Secondly, I prefer "hooked" headphones for jogging/biking because they tend to stay on the ear.Third, I do not care for in-ear buds as they agitate my ears and cause wax build-up, but I understand while audiophiles and folks who ride trains regularly or are near noise (lawnmowing) might prefer them. If that's your goal, then these aren't ideal for you.But if you're someone like me, looking for an athletic, wired headphone that sits in your ear, but doesn't sit in-ear (with a rubber nub), then these JVC headphones will do the trick. The hooks are adjustable for ear size (they slide about 2 cm 45 degrees up and down). The sound quality is mediocre - not for audiophiles, but it works. They are better quality sound than some other brands I have purchase of similar price and design.I took away one star for the directional nub on the bud. Perhaps it helps focus sound into your ear and improves quality, but I find unless placed well, in your ear, it tends to be more of a hindrance. It's a bit of a design flaw in an otherwise find headphone. However, they sit fairly well in my ears, so I don't have as much of a problem with them.bottom line - good cheap, headphones for athletic uses while still allowing to you hear the outside world (to avoid cars, etc.)4Mic went out exactly 2 months after purchaseI've bought this version at least once a year before 2 times because they usually only last a year before they stop playing sound for me.This last paie that I bought in May 2018, lasted me exactly two months. The microphone completely stopped working in July 2018.I assume it's because it was laying on my sweaty chest at the gym, but shouldn't a sports headphone be able to sustain through sweat, especially since the mic is designed to land in that position?Ugh, I'm switching brands.1Great for phone useI have one ear canal that is apparently strangely shaped, as the standard ear buds and ear phones will just fall right out of my year. So, the only thing that works is a clip over the ear style to keep the ear bud mostly in my ear. I've bought 3 pairs of these now only because I keep losing them. I primarily use these to talk on my phone and listen to messages from others. For that, it works wonderfully. Sound is much crisper than just using the phone itself. The ear clips are flexible so they don't hurt my ears too much (after an hour, I will feel a slight pressure), and there are a few notches of adjustment moving the clips higher or lower. The mic picks up my voice really well. Though, if I'm near cars driving by, it gets a little more difficult to hear. But on a typical residential side street, no traffic, voice is super clear. I do wish there was a volume adjuster, but it's not a deal breaker. If you have trouble with ear buds falling out of your ears, or need a pair to stay on while running, these are good option. If you are after the absolute best sound quality for bass-heavy music, these will disappoint you. But for speaking and non-bass heavy music, these sound very good. Good enough that when I lose my pair I buy the exact same thing to replace it!4They fit in your ear, not inside your ear. What I'm really looking for was a good clip over the ear, fit in the ear for noise blocking. These are not that. Yes they do a decent enough job over the ear, but they do not fit in the ear canal. Instead the piece that goes to your ear canal is very firm and it basically sits in your ear. Imagine placing a dime in your ear, that's what is going on here. Now the sound isn't bad, but different. Since the actual speaker driver is sitting outside your ear it's more like you're listening to a speaker from a distance. The bass isn't extremely pronounced while the mid-range is fairly clear, the highs are ok. I use these a lot to listen to music at work, since they don't fit in your ear canal they don't block a lot of outside sound. My original intent was to use them while mowing the yard obviously that's not going to work.3For the money they are serviceable. No shirt clip. Just by the price I knew these would be cheap, and they are. They feel cheap and I forsee electrical tape in the future for these. The biggest problem is that they don't include a shirt clip. The wire is pretty thin, but I still get the tug on my ears and constantly have to pull up the cord. The sound is alright. And the comfort after a few hours the comfort is ok. Update. After a weekend I put these back on one day and wow the pain was incredible! I used electrical tape to beef up the padding and that's working but wow... These don't enter the ear canal, but sit in the entrance. Most people hate that but I like it because don't have to take it off when they're not in use to be able to hear what's going on around me. If you're looking for isolation, comfort, or quality you need to pay more. For the money these are serviceable. 3Great sound for the price but don't last long! This is a 2-part review.I received the first pair, and the sound quality sounded good for the price. I am an avid bodybuilder, so I am using these quite a bit. I also like to use them, when I am using my tablet or other devices. However, in a few days, one of the sides stopped working. I don't know what happened, but Amazon replaced them immediately. I love the ear clip feature, especially, because I have small ears, so the ear buds keep falling out.The replacement lasted almost two months. I don't know what's wrong with these ear phones but they need to be made stronger. Of course it was just outside the return window. It's a shame they don't make things the way they use too.If you just want a pair for an occasion that are not costly but sound great, these are it. If you want a pair that last long, these are not it.They did sound great while they lasted.I won't be purchasing a third pair.2For the price, hard to beat. These replaced my trusty old Sony MD80 headphones that broke, used 99% of the time at the gym, and I sweat a lot, and need a jack/cord to watch TV while doing cardio. I don't like the "plug in the ear" style, so that eliminates many options. For the price, the sound quality is above respectable, they sit in the outside of your ear canal, so sweat is not a problem and they are comfortable. The band that goes over your ear is comfortable and slides to adjust the fit. So, comforts is great, the sound quite good, the cord is long enough for me (even with my phone in my pocket). They look good and I recommend them, particularly for the price. The only downside is bundling them up with the cord is a little awkward. 5 stars. 5Faulty Control SwitchI really wanted to love these JVC earbuds but the switch is their Achilles heel. I purchased these from Amazon in April. They deliver a nice sound and fit my ears well, but early on the switch started to fail. First problem is that the switch is tiny and extremely sensitive to any touch. It sits by your neck, so even turning your head can activate it accidentally. You really have to master the technique for pausing, skipping to next track, etc. Because of this, I was never able to use them for answering my iPhone; it just wasn t dependable. As the weeks went on, I lost the capability to do anything but pause the music; the other switch functions failed. Other people have complained about the lack of a volume control too. That s not a big issue to me but skipping tracks is, as I subscribe to Pandora Plus and must have that functionality when I run. I didn t see anything about a warranty so I guess I will just buy some other manufacturer s product.3Cant live witout them My husband and I both always keep a pair of these with us. I really like how they gently hook over your ear instead of having to shove and ear bud in my ear. They stay in place and never fall out which is great for working out or washing dishes or whatever it is you are doing. The microphone works great the sound is excellent and you cant tell that the person using them is on a hands free device. I prefer these to anything blue tooth because I hate having to deal with charging anything else I have enough gadgets as it is. The microphone also comes with a button to answer and hang up calls with so it works great while driving. I have an android phone and when I have google now open on my phone if I double click the microphone button it will recognize voice commands to make a call to mom or whoever. They are pretty sturdy I have had the same pair for over a year now but my husband has broken a few with rough handling but with the price being so affordable we I always keep an extra set on hand for each of us just in case. We have both gotten so used to them we feel lost without them. I hope they keep making this excellent product. 5Love itThis is the 3rd one that I brought (I had to gift the previous 2 because everyone likes it).-Sound? Really good. Good bass, good waves.-Microphone? Good reception. You dont need to get it cose to speak, cause it have a good range. If you use the microphone cose to your lips you will sound so, so high. I love it-Confortable? Yes! THEY DONT DROP. Ajustable clip for little/big ears.-Durable? 1 year of use and still working, im writting this is using them.-Now playing: Metallica - Moth Into The Flame5So close to perfect...I use one old android phone (without an account) and an old ipod touch for my music, audiobooks, and podcasts. I have my headphones in from when I wake to when I sleep unless I'm with loved ones or at work. I needed a pair of comfortable headphones that would stay in/on and preferably with in-line controls so I wouldn't have to dig out my devices and fumble with the controls while cooking, cleaning, painting, video gaming, or whatever.Pros:Extremely comfortable: The over the ear loops are generous and extend to fit ears I don't think I've ever seen on a person. They're light and don't irritate the channel just outside the ear, unlike my old ipod headphones. I often forget I'm wearing them and will snag them when taking off clothes because they're still in.The play/pause button: That's all I use it for, stop and go music. It's responsive and as long as the programming is in your device (androids handle this input in strange ways) the selected audio will respond accordingly.Good sound: I'm not a sound-phile, I don't really know what I'm listening to. I have, however, cranked up my music with no ill effect and the odd speaker 'cover' seems to direct more sound directly into your ear canal. I've lowered the volume on my devices since the snug fit provides much better output.Cons:No volume control: So close.... so close. I just can't seem to find a set I like that also have that feature, but it's a minor concern.Play/pause button: It is extremely sensitive. I've had music and other audio kick on and off unexpected when my headphones were plugged in and the strap from my bag hit the thing or I've brushed it too hard. I've set the headphones and device coiled next to me and heard strange, distant talking, not realizing what was going on for a minute or two, only to find I'd leaned and clicked the button again.Overall: If you need comfortable headphones that are affordable, get 'em. The play/pause button is a nice, if slightly overzealous, feature. But as always, if you want more, you have to spend more.4
