Customer Reviews

Good price, good product. It's really hard getting cases for the Surface Book 2, let alone the 15" version of the Book 2, so I really didn't have a TON of choice in buying this. However, I am not disappointed in the slightest. For the price, the quality is excellent. This (in my opinion) is a cheaper case. If you want a really sturdy case that will protect your computer if you shove it off the counter accidentally, you will have to pay more money, obviously. This case will 100% protect the outside/bottom/top of the laptop from surface scratches and dings. I don't know how much drop protection it would provide, especially if dropped on one of the corners. In my opinion, the price was good, it fits well, installation was easy, and I have no complaints right now! My main concern in buying this case was to protect from scratches anyway. I wasn't looking for huge armor to cover my laptop. This case is thin, has nice colors, and works like it's advertised!5Fits perfectly I had read some conflicting reviews on whether or not the case fit well - some people said the top didn't fit completely or that they couldn't charge with the cord above the laptop with the bottom part on - I found both of these to be incorrect, but I can see why people made these comments. I was hesitant on buying it because of these reviews (but there aren't many other options, honestly!) so I wanted to clear up any confusion. The bottom is very straight forward to install - you just slide it on - but the top takes some more finesse and effort. I tried sliding it on at first, but that didn't work well for me, so I resorted to popping it on. If you pop it on, as most people probably do, it will appear that one side fits perfectly and the other side does not, leaving a gap so that the case is not 'flush' with the laptop. This is not true, however. It is just that the case fits very snugly, so if you do not push the laptop into the case on the 'fitting' side as far up against the case as it will go, then the other side will not be able to fit in, if that makes sense. There are these little latches that are meant to latch onto the side by the screen - if they are getting stuck in the middle of the laptop and not going all the way down so they can latch onto the side by the screen, then you need push the other side of the case more until the other side is fit in as snugly as it goes. I gather some people took to sawing off the extra plastic bits after concluding they would not fit... this is not necessary! Also, you CAN charge from the top with the case - again, you just need to make sure the bottom of the case is pushed snugly in as far as it can go. If there is extra 'room' so to say, at the bottom by the touch pad (as in, space in between the laptop and the case), then you will not be able to charge from the top because the case is not on correctly and will get in the way of the charger.I took pictures to try to demonstrate the small latches on the side of the case that need to latch on by the front of the screen - if they are getting stuck in that black groove in the middle of the top of the laptop, then you need to make the other side of the case fit more snugly. Also, the pen attaches with the case on without issue.Altogether, good case for the price, and I expect it to protect well from scratches as well as making it easier to handle in tablet mode! I hope this is helpful for people who were uncertain about the case like me. 5Best case for surface book Great product and they listen to the customers. I brought this to protect my surface book with the understanding from other reviews that the charging cable would only work one way. Low and behold, they have redesigned the case on that side so you can put the cable any way you'd like and the case does not get in the way.It even works with the surface dock. This product is great to say the least. Fits in my original sleeve so you have an idea of how thin it really its. Also I have the i7 book and it gets hot sometimes right below the windows symbol. With this case, I find it much easier to hold in clipboard mode without it burning my hand. Also, it doesn't block the main vents for the book. If you had any prior hesitations for purchasing this product, you have nothing to worry about now. 5DOES NOT FIT Surface Book 2 13.5Unlike their advertisements, the case is not built to fit a 13.5 Surface Book 2. The bottom portion of the case has hinges that are too short for the thicker keyboard portion of the Surface Book 2 13.5 (other cases such as UAG have dealt with this by allowing people to remove rubber inserts that make their case smaller for a Surface Book 1).I'm hoping I was sent the improper case but it doesn't appear that way. Instead it seems like they are trying to offload Surface Book 1 cases as "Surface Book 2" cases.1Works well but has some design and QA issues This case is the only thing I was able to find to protect the surface books that I have. I have bought 7 so far and I will buy more if there is nothing else on the market but the design has two major flaws. The charger plug cannot be inserted with the cord towards the back of the laptop as the little grove in the plastic of the case is not deep enough and does not let the magnetic plug snap in place. If you push on the cord it will make contact and start charging but any slight movement will cause the charging tot stop. The connector works in both direction and if plugged in the opposite direction it will cover the adjacent port which cannot be used but it will snap in securely. The other issue is only on some of the covers where the screen cover fits loos and falls off all the time. A small clear double sided tape on the back close to the edge fixes this issue 3It s a wonderful case just check to make sure it fits 15 inch Surface Book 2 Revised! Thursady, Sept 13th, 2018At first I gave them a 1 star, but after multiple conversations with the owners heres why I changed my rating. The seller/Owners- Are really nice to work with. After I sent them a personal email here via Amazon, they responded very quickly to address the issues. This company Ipearl work very hard to please their customers. They Get an A+ in customer care service!Ipearl, went beyound the call of duty to personally send me 2 replacements both the Orange and the Clear Case! The only issue is the "TOP" case,it runs a little longer toward the bottom where the screen deatches at the hinge. It is about 1/16th of an inch longer. Otherwise, it fit perfectly. No issues with the bottom casing at all! Perfectly fits like a glove!Look at the photos I provided. As you can see they did not cut the top shell casing to fit the 15inch Surface Book 2 correctly. If you look closely at the photos the case is off my maybe about 1/16th of an inch. When you open your laptop because the case hangs off it prevents the laptop from opening up all the way back!So I had to quickly return it back and now I will purchase 2 more again and hopefully 1 out of the 2 will or has to fit .Since, last week. The owners-manufacturers advised that they are now checking to see if their molding might be causing the issue of the case not being cut to exact measurements. Otherwise, these are some really great protective casings!Microsoft Surface Book 2 !4Bad fit Top cover doesn't fit snugly. Bottom cover fits perfect which is mainly why I wanted it (to keep bottom from getting scratched). But the top cover easily peels back on the corners if you try to open it there or in the center (see pics). It doesn't come off but it needs to be snapped back into place every time and it's pretty annoying. I will be contacting the company to get a new top cover to see if this fixes the problem. Will update if they comply and it works because everything else is good. 1Important Things to Know Before Buying (Including ability to charge and surface pen use)I am posting this right after putting it on the first time and not having read the reviews before buying it. I bought this case so I could protect my surface but also put stickers on it without putting it on the actual laptop. There are a few things I wish I knew before buying:1) Contrary to the other reviews, the top part of the case CAN be locked in and cannot easily slide out. People mention having a bit of plastic on the lower right side that they need to file down to put on the case correctly. There is NO need to file down that bit of plastic. If you notice on the side of the tablet portion of your surface book, there's a grill around the outline. You can slide the case down that grill starting from the top of the tablet and it'll click in just fine. It took me two times to make sure it was locked in place, but I have no trouble with it sliding around.2) In line with other reviews, you cannot charge your computer with the cord facing a certain way. In the attached pictures I have the positions of where the cord can be plugged in so that it's charging and plugged in so that it isn't. The thing is, if you want your computer cord to loop behind your computer while using, then that way doesn't work. I'm not great at explaining these types of positions but if you were to look at the photos you can see what I mean. The way in which I can plug it in might end up making the cord less stable (again, look at pictures) if I have the cord looping around to the back of the computer to charge on the left side (as in, if the outlet was on the left side of my computer). This is something to consider if you usually have the outlet on the left side of you while working.3) There are little feet on the bottom of the case. Just as a separate keyboard has feet for different heights, the case has feet on the bottom. I couldn't care if I had them or not, but if this helps you decide then here's the information.4) I can easily have my pen attached on the side. There's no interference with the case for the pen to magnetically stick to the left side of the screen, so you can rest easy knowing that.I give this a 4 star rating because of the inability to have the cord face upward and charge. There may be many times where I need my outlet on the left or more so behind the computer, and that can cause the cord to lose durability further down in the use of this case and the cord. I have a habit of always having my computer plugged in if I'm near an outlet, so I can have it at 100% if needed later on in the day, so this is a big thing for me.I would recommend getting this if you don't care about the quirks, and I can't vouch yet about if stickers look weird on it because those are still to arrive.4Great case with nice features. Peace of Mind. I've owned my Surface Book for 3 years, and just discovered this product.I use it for real estate for daily work, and obtaining client signatures. This often means handing it to clients who may or may not handle it the way I do for signatures. I also use it for notes and measurements. This case prevents scratches, though I doubt it would do much if dropped. It's extremely useful when carrying the tablet portion. The case seems durable enough to prevent scratching while carrying. It doesn't cover the hinge, so you'll still need to mind that. The case clips into place well, and is a nice snug fit.I use multiple monitors with the surface dock at my office, and one display port at home. The back right clip just barely blocks the power cord from fitting perfectly when the cable faces to the back of the base. It must be used thus way to run the display port simultaneously. The dock plug sticks out a bit straighter, with more space from the body and does not have this problem. The factory charger is made to fit very close, and has to be played with a bit to ensure its actually charging as it's just a hair from inserting all the way into the port. It's close and can still work, but it's not perfect. The case has flip out feet to raise the back of the base to an angle - which I love. It's enough to be a nice addition. Unfortunately they feel like small thin plastic feet (which they are) so at times it feel like it's a hard push from breaking. With more than 2 months of daily use they are still working like day 1, so maybe it's in my head more than need be.In a nutshell, it's a nice fit and protects against scratches. It also adds nice rubber feet that hold better than factory while not making it much heavier or thicker. For the price it's a great buy and adds peace of mind. 4Great!Fits my 15" Surface Book 2 perfectly and has useful extra features like feet on the bottom of the case and a grip that holds your charger in place while it's charging. There is space on either side for you to connect your pen. There are no ridges on the top part of the case as shown in the picture, but they are on the bottom. I prefer the smooth look on the top anyway. I'm very impressed.5Current Me to Past Me: This Case Only Has 6 Months to LivePros: - Case allowed magnetic pen connections,I don't trust the pen loops - Proper ventilation holes all around frame and didn't experience overheating - Didn't obscure any plugin ports - Kickstand feet! Made note-taking so much more comfortable. - Case sat flush with the top and bottom, could hardly tell there was a case on - Variety of Colors/Options to choose from - Not a fingerprint magnetCons: - Material: Hard plastic, makes this case a bit slippery in your grip. Would be nice to see some rubber components or tpu added in for better grip. - Stronger Kickstand feet (mine broke after 6 months of use) - Optional Windows cutout, not my personal preference, would prefer them to cover itAs a college student who planned on carrying nothing but their laptop, I needed a case that wouldn't weigh me down, was minimalistic, allowed me to magnetically attach my pen to the side or the screen, and protect the bottom from specs of food/scratches.I ordered a clear case but my windows & camera cutout were off-centered which bothered me enough to reach out to iPearl, who replaced it within days(fantastic customer service).Going between classes 4 days a week, I depend on the kickstand feet ALOT. I'm constantly flipping my screen around to take notes with my pen & flipping it back when I'm done with that class. Unfortunately, after 6 months of continuous use, the left foot broke from the constant movement(pictured in the last 2 photos).Overall for the value, the product holds up well and provided all of the features I wanted in a case. Not drop proof but can withstand day-to-day scratches. I just wish it had held up way longer. Cheers to hoping they improve the feet and find a way to prevent them from rubbing into the bumper so much.4If I could give it a 4.9, I wouldThis case is really fantastic. It keeps my computer safe without adding a ton of unnecessary bulk like all the other surface book cases. I picked the clear case and I have a skin on my SB2 so it can still be seen. It doesn't interfere with sound or cooling at all and it still fits perfectly in my backpack sleeve. It is definitely a bit of work to get the top piece on. I had to apply a good amount of pressure to snap it into place; some of the tabs go on to the lip of the screen and some of them snap into the ridge where the air flow/speakers are. The bottom piece is super easy to get on/off. Although I've not had any issues with charging since putting this case on, it is easy enough to remove the bottom that it shouldn't be too big of a problem. The bottom piece did cause the corner of my skin/decal to peel up just a little but I took it off and put it on again and it's good as new. I expected that the wavy texture would bother me but honestly I kind of like it. It gives the SB a little more grip for carrying which I greatlt appreciate. I did not think the bottom would also be wavy but it is, if you care. The only thing I would dock it for is that it's a little uncomfortable to use as a tablet now. The case only "grips" the screen in 4 locations and they're not obvious unless you're looking for them. When note-taking I have to be a little creative about how I place my writing arm or they jab my forearm. I tried the folio case which was fantastic for notetaking but sucked in every other aspect. If you don't mind a little (2 minutes maybe) work to get it on and adjusting to use it as a tablet then this is a phenomenal case. It's definitely worth trying for only $20!4It's ok If you know what you are getting.I read other reviews before making this purchase so I wasn't too upset when the top case didn't fit flush on the laptop. I also knew adjustments could be made if this was the case. The whole problem is the bottom right corner that for some reason has this two prongs that don't go anywhere. As another reviewer said I took a metal nail file and filed it away which fixed the problem.I was more concerned with other reviewers saying they could not charge their laptop with the bottom case on which I'm glad was not the case for me. I attached photos of how it (both bottom and top) fit my surface book all around. I think this is a good option to add some color, and at the same time preventing scratches. If you are looking for something that will resist shock and some falls this is not the item for you. Even though dropping a laptop would be the saddest thing that could happen to anyone even with some shock resistant cases out there.4The bottom seems fine, but the top is loose enough that I ... A lot of the issues with this case have already been mentioned by other reviewers. I just want to reiterate them:1. If you bend your screen past about 100 degrees, it becomes too top heavy and rests on the rounded hinge of the laptop causing it to rock.2. The top of the case does not snap on as securely as the bottom. The bottom seems fine, but the top is loose enough that I almost pull it off every time I try to open it.There aren't, in my research, many cases that for this laptop that allow you to still detach and flip the screen around. However, I will be looking elsewhere because (as other reviewers have noted) this case covers the vents and may end up causing heat-related issues. 3Prevents proper coolingThe shell is ok and fits well. Works fine in low temperatures and basic usage, email etc. However, under higher temps or heavier usage, it seems to prevent proper cooling of the surface book, gets way hotter than when the shell is removed. Had to remove it - may attach the shell for traveling but not for daily usage. Not sure how long it will last putting it on and removing it, seems it will break at one point sooner than later doing so.2On behalf of all 15" Surface Book 2 owners, thank you iPearl.Fed up with waiting on Urban Armor Gear to get around to making a proper case for the 15" SB2, I looked for cases anywhere I could find. Who knew that in going from Mac to Surface my biggest problem would be finding a case? I found it ridiculous that no one had stepped up to the plate to make a product for the sometimes clumsy people like me who desperately want to protect their $2,500+ investment from scratches, dings, and dents.Until iPearl made it a reality. This product delivers, and in a variety of fun colors, too! The one I ordered is a gorgeous and deep translucent Purple, which I have been a sucker for since I was a kid playing Pokemon on my Atomic Purple Game Boy Color. This is a bit more rich in pigment than the subtle purple of the GBC or N64 controller, but it is welcome. The vibrant tone truly stands out from the crowd of bland gray Magnesium/Aluminum laptops. In the photos I tried to capture it in different lighting settings, the first being Pure White CFL and the second being Incandescent Soft White/Yellow.Having used Speck cases for my old MacBooks for years, this case feels right at home. Installation is simple, it just snaps onto your Surface Book's bottom shell and top shell with plastic clips. Then you are done! I do want to note that yes, you can still use your Surface in any orientation with this case on; Laptop mode, Tablet mode, View mode (screen flipped and attached), and Studio mode (screen flipped and attached, all the way down). You also can still attach your Surface Pen magnetically to the side of the screen on both sides, as there is room to do so that iPearl had clearly accounted for in their design. The differences are minor, but welcome. The Speck case uses this matte soft touch plastic that looks frosted and feels smooth to touch. This uses a textured plastic that has a soft touch, but isn't as nice or smooth as a Speck case. The bottom has a ridged texture which helps prevent it from being too slippery in your lap. Weirdly, the images for this product depict the Top Case having the same ridged texture as the bottom; it does not. This is a welcome difference for me as I prefer the flat plastic look for the top case. The rear feet also flip out to add a bit of lift to the machine, which is very nice for typing ergonomically, and also helps angle the screen slightly more in Studio Mode so it feels a bit closer to the Surface Studio angle-wise.There is also a little rail "guide" near the charging port which helps guide the cable along the side, which is nice but I do wish it was a little slimmer. Sometimes the charging port will come out slightly because of this plastic guide pushing the cable away from the computer. But not often enough to be an issue. The only other annoyance I have had is that while the rear feet have holes for the rubberized feet pads like the front, mine did not come with them installed. But that is OK, you can always add some later and I honestly haven't felt the need to, the front pads grip enough to make up for it.Overall, if you have a Surface Book 2 15" and you're looking for a proper case: Buy this one! For me, it has held up for the 6+ months since my purchase on March 30th 2018, and as a college student that shoves it in a laptop bag with a bunch of other tech nearly everyday it seems to hold up great. It may be the best option by proxy, but it is still a great case that anyone with a SB2 is bound to appreciate.5
