Customer Reviews

Highly Recommend I got this adapter for Ethernet capability with my Dell XPS 13. It's solidly constructed, however for some reason the ethernet connection is intermittent especially during start up and quite frustrating. If I ignore the problem, it usually corrects itself. The USB ports always work great and are very handy.UPDATE!(6/24/15) I was willing to live with the frustration of the spotty Ethernet connectivity, however because of my somewhat negative review I was contacted by Inateck who willingly sent me a replacement adapter. I've been using it for a few days now and I'm extremely pleased with the flawless performance. Wow...customer service at its best! I now highly recommend this adapter and this company with a well deserved 5 star rating. 5Did not provide fast ethernet for older MacBook Airs This is an attractive item at a good price, but on the USB 2.0 ports on my 2010 MacBook Air an on my 2012 MacBook Air, after a tricky time finding and carefully installing the appropriate driver (0012-rtunicv1.0.17.zip), connected to >200Mb Ethernet, that adapter gave less than 40 Mb performance. My wi-fi is faster than that ! The extra usb ports are nice, but the ethernet port gave no improvement. This is why I returned the item to Amazon. 1I LOVE this thing! Been looking for one for ages. I have a 14.5" Toshiba Satellite tablet w/500GB hard drive and 16K Ram, which has no Ethernet capability. The WiFi here is not all that great so the Ethernet is a must. This unit gave me the Ethernet option. The additional 3.0 USB ports are a needed bonus for an external number pad, a Blu-ray BD read/write drive and a Roller Ball mouse. This small laptop/tablet is now as fully capable as my other 17.4" and 18.3" laptops, thus negating having to take them on extended trips. A true space/weight saver.Love this item and highly recommend it for all small to mid sized tablets. The first picture shows the entire set of peripherals. The second the full set up. 5Ethernet Stopped Working After a Year When working, this was a great adapter. It always connected 1 Gigabit full duplex. I used this M-F every day for a year to dock my laptop at work. Over the past month the ethernet has intermittently been cutting out, but the USB hub still works. The ethernet device isn't even detected by Windows. Usually a disconnect/reconnect would bring it back, but today nothing is getting to come back. It is 14 months old and the problem probably started around 13 months. Will try a different brand to replace it. 2I like this product I like this product. really working nice with me.I use to have a problem: my internet modem is the ground floor and my desktop PC is in the second floor and it is not built in wireless, so i managed to connect CAT7 Cable from the modem to my desktop PC.But the problem was my mobiles and tablet i cant connect them to the network due to the wireless distance to the modem so i bought a D-link portable router and this small device. with this small device now i have 2 LAN network so I did network share internet and connect the device to my D-link Router to broadcast the wireless to my mobiles and tablet, there is a drop in the internet speed compare to my direct connected PC, but in general this small piece did more than what i wanted and with a cheap price. thump up for this product 5A great cost effective solution I purchase this product to connect a Microsoft Surface 4 to my local LAN. Although I was looking for only a USB 3.0 to Giga Ethernet adapter, I came across in Amazon with this particular unit that provides additional ports. That is a plus. I have been using the device for about a week. My computer needs to be connected 24x7 for business purposes. These are my thoughts:IN THE BOX: The unit comes in a box wrapped in a plastic bag. There is a small manual as well.INSTALLATION: Flawless and completed plug and play. The unit comes with a little manual that provides additional instructions. The first instruction is to just plug it into your computer. I used it with Windows 10 although the manual indicates that works with other versions of the Windows OS. I have not tried with Mac yet. The manual provides additional instructions to configure static IP something that most users won t need as local area networks at home and office provide automatic IP assignments (DHCP).PERFORMANCE: I tried various speed tests and I get excellent throughput. Pinging devices within the same LAN returns speeds of under 1ms. Can go any faster than that.STABILITY: As I said, I keep my computer connected and operational 24x7. My computer connects to a corporate VPN and it has been steady for literally the one week I m using this device.DURABILITY: With only one week of use, I cannot tell much about durability but being an electronic device with no moving or heating parts, I would assume it will last a while.USB PORTS: The additional ports in the unit make it so practical. I moved my wireless mouse and keyboard to it, as well a web camera. They came up immediately. The USB ports are 3.0, which is the current and fastest available USB standard.OVERALL: Considering how practical and how efficiently this devices works, for the price paid, this device has my vote of confidence and recommendation. 5Exactly what I needed for my 2-in-1 tablet/laptop Exactly what I needed for my 2-in-1 tablet/laptop! My Toshiba L15W-B1320 on has a 2.4ghz wireless card in it, so it was limited to 54Mbit/s transfers. On my local network a much faster connection. Actual data transfer speeds across the wireless network measured a measly 25Mbit/s.This was completely plug and play. Through the ethernet cable it now measures around 550Mbit/s and it gets the full 60Mbit/s internet download speeds. The USB 3.0 ports are as expected. I tested each port and they are all identical speeds. I did not load test all three at the same time, since that does not reflect my actual usage.Overall I'm elated that such a product exists. It does get a bit warm, but nothing alarming. 5Simply works great. Note Got it for my MS Surface Book. Windows 10 automatically installed the drivers. Simply works great.Note: Some here have issues with the power draw. Keep in mind you are wanting to plug this into a USB 3 port which probably has a max amp rating of 1 amp. So, that doesn't mean you have 1 amp per USB port. You have 1 amp shared to 3 ports minus a little power draw for the hub itself. 5Nice product but has a major interference problem I purchased this to add usb ports and ethernet to my MacBook. Unfortunately when I used it, it would cut out my wireless. Even disabling the hub in network preferences still degraded my wireless severely. I wrote the company and they confirmed that this is an issue. Here is their response "Of course it disconnects the WiFi, due to an interference issue. Also, the network designation has to be toggled to prioritise WiFi and deactivate the LAN module. Thus, I suggest you put the hub onto the right side of your Macintosh, perhaps adding a enhancement cable to the hub to move it further away from the computer."I don't understand why no one else has had this problem but because of this limitation I'm giving it only three stars. it would be a five star product if it did not have this interference issue but is fairly useless as is. For now it will just sit in my bag as an emergency backup.Update 03/02/2015 - Gave 2 extra stars for outstanding customer service. The Inateck group reached out to me and tried to help me resolve my issue. Their solution helped improved the performance of the product to where it is usable for me. Very refreshing to find a company that actually cares. As for the adapter/hub, It is a handy little device and a great addition to any travel or expansion pack. 3 stars for the product and 2 stars for the outstanding customer service. 5Works great with my Nexus Player and Harmony 700 remote I connected this to my Nexus Player using this with a micro USB to USB OTG cable. I also added a "Excelity Wireless USB PC Computer Remote Control Media Center Controller ", all purchased through Amazon. This setup now gives me a gigabit Ethernet connection for my Nexus Player and allows me to control everything with my Harmony 700 remote. It also provides additional ports to add items such as wireless keyboard/mouse and external (USB) storage.Adding gigabit speeds to my Nexus Player is very critical, especially for streaming content and Live TV. Each of my three Nexus Players literally sit within 1 foot of a WiFi access point, but they constantly lag. Adding gigabit ethernet provided the necessary bandwidth to flawlessly watch HD content. This now allows me to use the built in PVR feature of KODI to access my HDHomeRun Prime receiver to have live TV and DVR access on all of my TV's -- Goodbye having to spend $10/mo for renting each cable receiver through Comcast!!! 5
