    Nice cheap sink mat that smells. I really like this for my large sink, but this stinks. I have had this in right side of my sink since Feb 2; 2018, and after leaving it outSide for a few days I thought the stink was gone..NO, then we have been having allot of rain, cold in Ca. Brought it outside again for over a week And finally there is some relief from the smell.Btw, when I got this I washed it with commet, barkeepers friend, dishsoap, and baking soda, didn t do a damn thing..After almost two months, and putting it out side again in the cold weather my kids are saying this smell is better but not a 100%.If you have a lung problem, asthma, I would pass on this sink mat.I also thought this was silicone. No its not.The darn thing is, I like the size and all of this mat, and the price.You get what you pay for, nice sink mat that stinks. 2Quality, but STINK I wanted to like these, but I just can't. Don't get me wrong, these are quality sink mats. They fit nice, lay flat, and look good. But, they stink immensely. I have washed, scrubbed, etc. and they still stink like an oil refinery. I don't know what these are made of, but they have a continuous oily feel to them. I have scrubbed them with cleansers (Comet, etc) and they continue to feel oily to the touch. And, they STINK. I saw a few comments about the smell, but thought that maybe it was just a fluke. No, they smell just as bad as when I got them. I will continue to use them, as they are good mats. But, I will be looking for something else. 1Does the Job Does the job especially if you have a brushed stainless sink. This is a soft plastic mat so keeping hot stuff off it makes sense. Also if you are cleaning up dishes with red pasta sauce be aware that it will stain the mat if you have a clear one. Some have complained about the smell. There is a smell associated with the product but nothing that doesn't wane over time. Also this mat has small holes to let water drain but won't let chunks of food pass especially if using it over the disposal part of the sink. Takes a bit getting use to if you have not had one before. 4Not Perfect, But Very Good This is the third set of these clear plastic/vinyl sink protectors that I've purchased from Amazon, and I continue to think they are a great product. However, as others have mentioned, they do suffer from some issues. With certain things (such as tomato sauce), they can become discolored, however it seems the discoloration will go away (or at least lighten up greatly) after a few days. If you plan ahead and know that you're going to pour questionable things down the sink, you can preemptively remove the sink protector temporarily to avoid the discoloration. This can also work for certain food items (usually stringy stuff) that may become entwined within the rectangular holes (another common issue that others have complained about). I also agree that it would be nice if there was already a hole cutout within these protectors, but at the same time I like that there isn't one as sinks do vary in design. 4Do not expose to tomato sauce. My wife is very disappointed with this. It has a lingering odor (I think it's from the silicone, or whatever it's made of) that doesn't dissipate, and the worst thing is that, when she put some pots and dishes in the sink that contained tomato sauce (marinara for pasta), the mat turned orange and the color hasn't faded away -- it's now permanently orange. 1Does a good job protecting Does the job of protecting the sink. However, it tends to feel very "greasy" after I have washed dishes (definitely is greasy after washing cooking pans), so needs to be washed with soapy water when done. I always take it up when dishes are done, as it leaves pattern stains on the sink if it's left in place (I don't remember what this sink is made of but it has a matte finish). 4LOVE!!! I LOVE this black sink protector mat! This is the first sink mat I have seen that actually covers the whole base of the sink! My other mat had over an inch of sink uncovered on all sides and sometimes silverware would get under it and I started seeing a few scratches on the sink. This covers the whole base and goes up the sides just about a half to 3/4 of an inch all around. Pay attention when you are ordering your color, however, because some of the colors were noted to be a smaller size. Highly recommend!!!!! Now if someone would just make a sink drainer that fits in the sink and actually fills up the entire sink I would be even more thrilled. 5Genius design! This mat's design is ingenious. This mat can fit in either well of our kitchen's double sink. One well is a standard sink approx. 13 1/2 inches by 15 1/2 inches; the other is a pot sink approx. 14 inches by 18 inches. The mat also serves its purpose very well. It cushions the dishes and pots being washed and protects the sink's surface. What's more, the mat, with its grid-work pattern of holes, allows the water to drain through it no matter where the sink's drain is located; not like the kind of mat that is solid except for some randomly spaced holes around a center drain.I had bought this type of mat years ago from Bed, Bath and Beyond and could never find them in stock. Since I found them here, I ordered six of them. I love them. 5This is a nice, thick This is a nice, thick, well-made sink mat. It's glossy black and nicely flexible, not a stiff, cheap plastic at all. The holes don't necessarily allow for larger pieces of debris to fall through into the drain, but you really need to pick any mat up and clean it regularly anyway, so I don't think this is an issue, at least not for me. My primary concern was to protect my nice new white porcelain sink, and to guard against breaking glass or ceramic dishes when I hand-wash these items.The mat was a little large for my basin, but no problem! I carefully trimmed it until it fit perfectly, and it looks great. Because it's black, I don't think I'm going to have any problems with staining, and since it's glossy, it seems to repel anything from really sticking. I simply spray it off and it comes clean easily.I have purchased other mats that have been cheaper, but I wasted my money. I wished I would have just bought this one in the first place. I suspect it will last me a good long time. By the way, I do NOT put hot dishes into my sink; if I ever had a reason to, I would most certainly remove anything plastic in the sink before doing so. Which means I don't anticipate any problems with melting the plastic or leaving marks in my pretty sink mat.I will post a followup if I have any problems in the future, but for now, I'm very satisfied with this product. 5Poor Quality PVC that will stain If this were Silicon it would not stain. After only a few months of use of the Graphite/Clear version, it has incorporated food stains in to the unit making it unappealing to look at. I've sprayed standard household cleaners on it, soaked it in a "green" stain remover and another typical at-home cleaner and the stains are still embedded in this poor quality PVC. Spend the money on a non-staining Silicon style instead of a porous type Made-In-China product like this which is quite unsanitary. 1
