Customer Reviews

Nice looking, easy to install, bright, and excellent customer support! I bought a bunch of these light fixtures in both the 12" and 14" sizes to install in various locations in the house (hallways, closets) to replace the old incandescent fixtures that were already in place when I moved in.The installation was real easy. The only tools you'll need are a screwdriver and a pair of pliers (to twist some hard to twist wires) Since the wires are colored, all you have to do is to make sure that you connect the same-colored wires on the fixtures to the wires on the ceiling and make sure that they're connected secure and tight, and you're done.Out of the bunch I bought, one started flickering. I contacted Hyperikon support and they immediately sent me a new fixture in the mail, no questions asked! Great support!I wouldn't hesitate buying other Hyperikon products! 5Very favorable light with only 1 tiny room for improvement This product met my needs very well. It is attractive, energy efficient, and the company stood behind the product when one of many I ordered proved to be defective. The only advice I would provide for product improvement involves negating some minor extra work if your electrical box mounts using the narrower of the 2 screw keys, you must unscrew the transformer in this unit to access the narrower key holes. That is fully doable but instead of using screws to fasten the transformer, I would recommend a clip or twist lock design as the screws that fasten the transformer on the light are very tiny and easy to drop or lose when mounting the light overhead. 5Through Defective Lights, Hyperikon Still Receives 5 Stars Cover is a form of plastic, however there is an ample amount of light.Edit: A month later, the light burned out throwing sparks inside the cover. The hot wire had seared in two.Edit: Called Hyperikon and explained the situation. They asked for my Amazon order number and a week later I received a new light. Warranty is awesome.Edit: Again, a month later the light would only flicker and needed a second replacement. This time I contacted them through email and received a response very quickly.Edit: The third light has now been received and so far is working fine. This light is clearly different than the previous two with there being less lumens, however there is still an ample amount of light.Although the two lights I received were defective, the customer service has been extremely helpful during this process. This is definitely a company that strives for customer satisfaction! I will continue to buy their products because I know I will be taken care of if there is ever an issue. 5Awesome bright lights I bought this light to replace an old style flush mount light that was originally with the house. I m updating my kitchen and I wanted better lighting. I m amazed at how bright and clear this light is and matches the recessed daylights in my kitchen. I didn t do the installation but had it don t by a contractor. They had some difficulties because the one I got did not have screws so they had to find the right screws. Took them 20mins but it worked perfectly!Wish I replaced it with this a long time ago but I m so happy to have this now. I just hope it lasts us a long time because I don t want to have to replace the entire thing. The photos suck because it doesn t really show how nice they are. Looks better in real life than these photos. 5Very bright, very white, a great light Really, a 4.5 star review, but I'll bump it up. Pros: Very bright light, very good dispersion, very white light, very true colors, easy to install, looks good, pretty inexpensive. Cons: take off half a star because it is a bit flimsy, thin plastic for the shroud, but how durable does it need to be? LEDs produce little heat and no UV light that would degrade the plastic, so I'm hopeful it will last the life of the fixture. It still looks good, and when it's on it is too bright to look at. The other con is that the LED's are not replaceable, so when it dies, you have to replace the whole unit (hopefully that will be 20 years from now).I have this in a small walk-in closet (8x10) and it's dazzlingly bright, almost too much, way brighter than the two-bulb incandescent fixture that it replaced. I may put it on a dimmer, but for now, it's great, I can easily distinguish my navy blue socks from my black socks due to the brightness and the very white light of the 4000K (Daylight Glow) color. If I did it over again I'd probably get the next size down for the closet, but it should light a small-medium room very well.In addition, unless you really like a very white light, or need it for tasks (kitchen or bathroom), a warmer light color is not quite as harsh and would be better for hallways and most other rooms. In those rooms I would opt for the 3000K (Soft White Glow) color. 5as advertised but with one minor annoyance Easy enough to install and generally works as expected, including functioning with a dimmer switch. Materials are a little flimsy, but as long as you're careful with the unit it doesn't seem to be a problem, and the lighter weight actually makes installation a little easier. The only issue I've noticed so far is that when the light is in use, especially when the dimmer is fully open, it emits a low-grade buzzing like you would typically hear from a fluorescent light. (Full disclosure: I have not tried the light with a standard on/off switch, so it's possible the buzzing is related to the dimmer and not necessarily the fixture itself.) It's not significant enough to be heard over a TV or music, or really even over a running air conditioner, but it was noticeable in a silent room. 4Okay for hallways or closets, but not for occupied rooms nor with dimmers I bought two of these fixtures to replace two incandescent ceiling fixtures in a walk-in closet. I also hoped to install more of them in two bedrooms. The issue with trying to update an existing incandescent ceiling fixture that has a enclosed glass diffuser, is that conventional LED light bulbs shine most of their light out the top of the bulb, which would be facing sideways inside the fixture, and also generate too much heat to work long-term inside the enclosed fixture. The design of this new fixture solves that problem.Pros:--The fixture consists of a round, (relatively) flat base of enameled white metal, with an attached ring of LED modules mounted on small arc-shaped sections of circuit board. This design does an excellent job of creating a dispersed, even light source, rather than a single point source.--The metal trim is made from thin sheet metal, with a brushed finish. Some buyers have criticized this as looking cheap, or the lamp had poor quality control with scratches or uneven finish. The units I received looked fine. The diffuser is made from thin plastic, but again, it's adequate for the job and, combined with the LED ring, produces a very uniform light with no hot spots.--The fixture is very easy to install as a retrofit for an existing ceiling fixture with a standard junction box (as long as you wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from falling wallboard dust or other debris).Con:--The fixture makes a noticeable buzzing/humming sound when on, similar to an old-fashioned fluorescent light ballast. Strangely, when used with an ordinary light switch (not a dimmer), the buzz subsides somewhat after the electronics have been on for 20 seconds or so.--While technically dimmable (the light has a full range of dimming with a LED-compatible light dimmer, and can fully turn off, and has no flickering), the buzz becomes much louder at less-than-full-on dimmer settings. I would consider it much too loud to use in a bedroom or other area occupied by people. I "bench tested" it with two brand new, high-quality LED-compatible light dimmers, including the best LED/CFL dimmer on the market, the Lutron MACL-153M-WH Maestro Digital Dimmer Lutron MACL-153M-WH Maestro 150-Watt Multi-Location CFL/LED Digital Dimmer and a Z-Wave Plus dimmer. I have over twenty of these dimmers running various brands of LEDs lights around the house, and none of them buzz. This product seems to have a poorly-engineered LED driver module. Conclusion: when used with a basic on/off switch, or an occupancy sensor switch, it's an attractive light for closets, hallways, balconies, etc. But, I would definitely avoid it for use in any sort of quiet room, and it makes too much noise when used with a dimmer. 3As advertised just not as expected. Became a keeper by merit alone! Even though the size is clearly stated, I was thinking it would be slightly larger. As it is, it's very light. The light is okay. We had this kind in the room before but with u shaped fluorescent bulbs. Not really comparable. It does the job but I'm sure we will replace with a different style nowUPDATED: It has now been 4 months since I first installed this fixture and I really thought I would have replaced it by now, but have not. Actually, it has grown on our family and we use it daily. To further impress me on the light the seller was over concerned regarding my less than "stellar" experience and wanted real feedback on how to improve, not offer free objects or try and get me to change my review. SO even though at first I thought it would bee inadequate it has proven to be more than enough and takes up a much smaller footprint, which we have grown to also like better. 4Burned out after two weeks and then again after 6 months. Brighter than thought it would be, seems closer to 100 watts than 75 watt equivalent but happy with the added lighting.Update on Oct 22, 2017 - after replacing the first ceiling light as it burned out after about two weeks, this one burned out after 6 months. Was awesome when it worked, but totally unacceptable that it burned out after 6 months. Now I have to figure out if the company will stand behind it.Update on 28 April 2019, light burned out again. Do not buy this item or you will be sorry!!! 1Fantastic fixture, very bright, and comes with clear instructions. Fantastic fixture. Much brighter than my old ceiling fixture. Easy to install for those who have done this before. If not, follow the wiring instructions carefully, have a good sturdy ladder, make sure the breaker and switch are off, have wire cutters, medium and small screwdrivers, measuring tape, and electrical tape (not really needed to securely wrap the connectors, but it's an extra security step). I used a wearable headlight lamp which made the installation easier to see. There are 2 sets of mounting slots on the housing to fit either large and small ceiling boxes. Take down the old fixture and measure to see which mounting slots you need to use. I used the slots for a small ceiling box. The small ceiling box slots are harder to reach, due to their location right next to the inner cover. So I took off the inner cover to reach the smaller slots. These inner cover bolts are very tiny, so be aware. Because I have an old house with thick sheetrock ceilings, I used longer bolts to insure solid installation. Am going to replace two other ceiling fixtures with these lights. This is my first time changing a ceiling fixture by myself, and I am well pleased. Highly recommended. 5
