Quiet and Beautiful / Might not be good for low-ceiling applications PRO It's a beautiful fan Hunter has awesome customer service (sent me a replacement globe quickly after mine arrived cracked) It's quiet: partially the motor, but the mounting system is based on a joint that permits swaying without rocking the fixture mount that's attached to the joists in your ceiling. Also all of the screw joints for the blades are padded with rubber grommets. (It's annoying that you have to pop them all into place though) The light is well-diffused, so it's not jarring to lay in bed and read a bookCON That quiet mounting system adds height to the fan, which can be a problem if you have low (~8 foot) ceilings like I do. I'm 5'9 and when I reach up, just about my entire palm reaches past the globe. When I change the comforter or sheets on my bed, I usually throw my hands up so it spreads evenly, but now I have to be careful not to smash the globe. The lights are really not very bright at all, and there's no way this could be the only light in the room. 4Don't hunt for Hunter, it's Garbage IF YOU BUY THIS, YOU WILL GET LESS THAN ONE YEAR, IF YOU USE THE LIGHTS REGULARLY. Don't buy a Hunter, as their brand is no longer what it use to be ! I bought this ceiling fan light and the lights quick working in less than one year. I bought a brand new one again, and changed out the light part of the fan, and it now just went out again. I bought it in 2016 and it went out just before 2017 Christmas. Guess what, I have guests coming over for this 2018 Christmas, and it didn't even last a year and is complete garbage again. Very dim light to begin with, and the electronics do not last a year. I have a Hunter bath fan and it didn't last either. The light switch is now taped off to not turn on, because of the howling noise the fan puts out when running. 1Disappointed. Lasted a year and a half, then the pulley on the light broke. The mechanism within the light switch itself is unnecessarily complicated and difficult to replace, unlike every other ceiling fan I've seen. Instead of a matter of stripping wires and connecting those together, the copper connectors require welding. Regardless, this fan should have lasted longer than a year and a half without needing any kind of replacement. I'm not happy with this purchase and won't buy another Hunter fan. 1Overall a Good Buy Not as easy as they say to put it together. Some of that was my older home, and some of that was missing pieces. Fortunately, they do include limited spare hardware. Some holes didn't line up properly, though, and at one point just had to be given up on (thankfully a cosmetic feature, not a structural one!). Also, the pull chain for the fan came broken (the interior piece was broken and the chain just slid through it).Overall, a nice fan for the price. Once you get it installed, it's quiet and efficient, and it gives you a very nice breeze. I would definitely recommend it to others. 4Started out good but did not last long. I bought the Hunter 53091 Builder Deluxe 5-Blade Lighted Ceiling fan 8 months ago ... The light portion blew the bulbs out about a week ago when the light was turned on. It then would blow the light bulbs as you put them in to replace a blown bulb. I contacted Hunter and spoke to Deanna who took my info for a warranty claim. I emailed my proof of purchased and it was accepted. I was told that the problem is probably a bad wiring harness or a controller and one would be shipped. A few hours later I received an email letter stating the wire harness is currently on back order. So now we sit in the dark waiting for Hunter to mail a back ordered wiring harness to us so we can fix their defective light. Not really a happy camper. 2Gorgeous fan that is highly functional & super quiet This fan is beautiful, functional and whisper quiet. I can't believe how affordable it is! The fan and light fixture really upped the styling of my media room and man, it puts out some wind too. The room in which it was installed is pretty small, around 10 x 10', and it's absolutely perfect. It took my handyman 1 hour from unboxing to walking away. I don't think the bulbs that come with it are all that dim as some reviewers mentioned - I like the soft lighting it puts out, especially in a media room, but it's definitely enough light. If you're looking for the surface of the sun, you may want to buy different bulbs. I bought the smaller version of this fan for my guest room and it's just as fantastic. I cannot recommend this fan enough. 10 stars!! 5Works with dimmer switch Love this product. We had to purchase 2 for our addition. We had the added complication of vaulted ceilings which required a downbar and our electrician pre installed dimmer switches already. These look beautiful. They are a dark brown with almost black metal parts. We went with the 18 inch down bar and they worked with the switches. Assembly took 2 hours for both fans. There's also a metal , Hunter, plate in case you would opt for no light, just the fan. The fan globe is a nice suntan, bronze color. The switches worked well. Great produce and much cheaper than big box home improvement stores. 538 Years and Still Running I purchased this fan today, based on long personal experience with Hunter fans, experience which could be useful for you.Our house has high open-beam ceilings, and in the winter hot air would rise and collect at the ceiling, while a zone of 2 to 3 feet near the floor remained cold. I checked out a store display of ceiling fans, and noticed that the Hunter fans were a lot quieter than the other brands displayed alongside. I purchased one, and installed it in the living room. It solved our heating problem easily and completely, so we decided to put another fan in the kitchen. However, since the kitchen was less than half the size of the living room, we got a cheaper fan of another make, which whined and wobbled, and after two years it quit working. We replaced it with a Hunter.The living room fan operated flawlessly, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year for about 20 years. One day, after stopping the fan to clean the blades, when re-starting we found that the fan would run only at the highest of the three speeds (we use the lowest speed). I telephoned Hunter in Tennessee, and gave them the numbers from the motor housing. They said our problem would be one of two parts, and that they would send them both to us. I said "You haven't mentioned any price". "No charge", I was told, "these fans are guaranteed". I installed the parts, and the fan worked like new. It has now run continuously, except for the ten-day pause for new parts, for 38 years, while the kitchen fan has run continuously for 36 years without repair.These fans are quiet, durable, include a balance kit to eliminate wobble, and are among the nicest looking on the market. The rotation direction is reversible, so in the winter you set the fan to pull cold air up from the floor and move warm air down along the walls to warm the room, then in the summer you reverse it to fan air across overheated people. In hot climates the fan can be used at the higher speeds to move a lot of air quickly. I can't think of another product that has impressed me more than Hunter fans, given their performance and the amazing service, which was needed only once in 38 years. 5Love the look of the fan Love the look of the fan, very very quiet, especially compared to old model. Went up fairly quickly (probably 45 minutes in total). My problem is the light pull switch, which clicks on and off. I installed this model around October/November 2014. The first light pull failed (when pulled would no longer "click", meaning the actuator no longer functioned, so if it was on, it was on forever, or off (as was my case) off until replaced)) in March 2015. They sent out a replacement (originally sent wrong part altogether - fan pull switch, two weeks later got correct one). Disassembled fan and replaced with new switch, worked fine, for 2.5 months. I'm now waiting to get a second switch, which I can only assume will fail in another 2-3 months.On average, this switch is pulled 6 times daily, so we're talking a fail rate in approximately 500-600 pulls. That's insane. 2Great quality, easy install Quick to install by myself, good instructions and perfectly balanced on arrival.Had not installed a fan in about 15 years, so i went slow reading the directions. The directions are well written and in understandable english - not run through an auto translator like a lot of products use today, which make no sense when reading. There were other languages provided, but not being fluent in them I cannot attest to them.the fan blades were well balanced, i have no wobble at all. However, the fan came with a balancing kit, which I'll be saving in case one of the other fans I install in my home isn't as lucky.Now that I have a Hunter brand fan I'm noticing them everywhere, in every home i go to. It's a great reassurance that I chose a good brand that will last a good long while. 5
