worked well, but not for long the product worked very well, but only lasted a few months...the installation was easy. you just choose a flat surface (mine was tile), put the suction cups on that surface and pull the suction levers back to activate the suction mechanism that holds the bar in place. i used this for my towel, because we had no towel bars in my bathroom.\it worked phenomenally for several months. this thing did not budge no matter how much pressure i put on it, and it was great!until it broke. this broke after about 2 months of use. by broke, i mean that it just spontaneously (as far as i can tell) fell off the tile wall and i could not get it stick back. i noticed that one of the suction levers was dented (broken) on one of the suction pads, but the funny thing is that neither suction pad was sticking anymore...for $13, i just threw it away and ordered another one. the new works just as well as the first one did...for now...we'll see how it holds up in the long run. 3It looks good, but doesn't work well I've had this small towel rack for 5 months. I use it to hang a wash cloth in the shower, which is tiled. So it never had anything heavy on it. It looks good, but doesn't work well. When first applied as directed, the suction cups held it up for about 4 hours (with ought anything hanging from it!), and fell to the ground on the re-try too.. We then applied a thin smear of clear silicon to the edge of the suction cups, and it held for about 4 1/2 months. It started falling down again and repeated efforts to get it to stay up are useless--it keeps falling down after a couple of hours. It is handsome and would be great if it works, but it doesn't. 1Even with one cup still very strong on glass! I have a free standing glass shower with no place to hang towels (within easy reach) till I came across this.I have a full size towel hanging on it right now with only one suction cup attached because the other one refuses to hold.I was actually fine just using one since it seems secure and it has been over a week now and it's still holding strong. However I kept getting customer satisfaction emails from Interlink Products so I decided to respond to that email to see what their customer service was like about 5 minutes ago.Now I find myself giving them a 5 star review because about 1 minute ago Linda responded and said "here is your tracking number a new cup has been sent".Now that's some fast customer service, thank you Linda. 5Loved the bar for the three hours it stayed up These looked like the perfect bars to put on the outside of our clear glass shower enclosure both to provide easy access to the towels and a touch of extra modesty for my wife. The suction cups on clean, smooth glass were a joke and couldn t hold a single bath-size towel without sliding, then falling immediately. I tried with their adhesive pads on the backs of the clear mounting brackets which held two towels for maybe three hours, if that long. I pulled off their adhesive and replaced it with strips of Gorilla mounting tape covering the entire bracket surface. I got about three weeks out of the bar on the door and about six weeks on the bar on the outside wall panel. They ve been sitting in the corner ever since because I can t bear to throw these expensive mistakes away. Two stars because they look really nice. 2Not all metal The towel bar itself is polished stainless steel and looks good but the end pieces (brackets) are some non metal cheaper material that, in my view, detract from the appearance of the unit. It's a bit annoying that you can't tell from either the pictures given or the mfg. descriptions that these components are made of different material. The suction device works well and firmly attaches to my glass shower door. I'd rather have paid a bit more and had the end holders match the bar itself.UPDATE:In brief, the suction pads do not hold the towel bar in place for more than a few hours. This is an update from my initial review on Amazon.Despite repeated attempts using the suction pads the towel bar does not adhere to the glass door of my shower. It seems firm initially but is found on the floor the next morning. This despite cleaning the glass door, on different occasions with ethanol, Windex, and soap. I am also unable to attach the clips containing the adhesive material to the 'feet' of the towel bar. There may be a trick to doing this but it eludes me. I plan on returning the towel bar to Amazon. 1I like this a lot I like this a lot. Instant towel bar. I tried just using the suction cups on my tile wall following the instructions outlined (which are not very difficult: 1) clean area 2) let dry for specified time 3) place 4) press 5) abstain from creating a too moist environment for some time and that's it). However, I found the bar on the floor a couple of days later.I would recommend just using the adhesive attachments included with the set no matter which of the specified surfaces you are mounting this on.I did so, and it is working perfectly.I also ordered the larger version of this (24 inch) to hang my bath mat after each use. It work great as well. So, 4 stars because it didn't work for me without the adhesive.By the way, customer service was excellent. one of the initial cups was not working properly. Sent a quick email and got a replacement within a few days. Highly recommended to anyone who doesn't want to do too much work. 4Functional and looks decent For a little extra hanging space in the bathroom this thing is pretty good, if not exactly great. It is light and plastic but looks like chrome, and as long as you don't touch it you would never know. The suction doesn't hold indefinitely, and you can't put any real weight on it, but it works when it works - you can totally hang a washcloth or a shirt on it and be good to go. I didn't try the sticky-pads - only the suction cups. They are what give it away as a temporary sort of thing, but honestly I've had issues with pretty much every suction cup I've ever tried in the bathroom - I think they just have a tough time working in such a steamy environment. If you need some extra hanging space and don't want to screw anything into your tiles, this is worth a shot. 4Refuses to stay on the wall It looks nice, and the feature that allows you to lengthen or shorten the distance between the brackets is a plus. However...I cleaned the smooth tile in my shower, wet the suction cups and put those babies up. Unfortunately, one of the suction cups refused to hold. So, I decided to use the plastic circle things and included glue. Well, one of the circle things wouldn't fit on a holder, so I put it up looking a little crooked. It lasted for a couple of months with only a hand towel that I use to dry the shower hanging on it. Then, it fell off, leaving the glue pads mostly on the wall. Ugly! And, one of the brackets has a chipped spot now, from that fall.I just bought some Command strips and will see if they work. I've had a Command holder on the tile wall next to the vanity for at least 15 years, holding my hair styling products, with no problems whatsoever. So, while this looks really nice, the manufacturer needs to go back to the drawing board about those suction cups. Or recommend to customers that it not be installed in the shower. 1Nice Towel Bar-Had A Problem-Company Did A GREAT Job!!! Edit 5-21-17: A week or so ago the replacement towel rod ends arrived. BUT..the companies kindness went even further. The first shipment was delivered to the wrong address. When the mistake was discovered Interlink Products sent out a SECOND set of ends with an apology for the US Postal Service's mistake and continued assurance they would take care of me. Now remember...this is after me having the product a little over 30 days. I hope this review doesn't encourage less than honest people to take advantage of Interlink but I just wanted people to know that you can feel very comfortable buying from them especially if it's a "Prime" item although I really think Interlink would come through even if it wasn't. I'm actually going to look and see if they have a store here on Amazon and check out what else they sell. I'm 72 and disabled so I really appreciate everything they did to fix this issue absolutely hassle free. It's becoming more rare these days. And to think, I almost didn't send them an e-mail letting them know about the issue because I had had the rod more than 30 days. Many companies would have said...it's not our problem now.Edit 4-19-17: I sent an e-mail to the seller to ask for advice. They were kind enough to offer a full refund or send me new towel bar ends. I thanked them and requested new ends. I really like this bar so if new ends fix the problem, I'd be happy. Considering I've had the item more than 30 days and I did not request a refund, I would say that's a sign of a company who really cares about their customers and is safe to deal with. I look forward to the new ends. Because of the way the company is handling this problem and the fact that the towel bar is nice, I am putting 5 stars back up. I'll keep you posted.Edit 4-18-17: This worked fine until today. Now it doesn't want to hold it's grip and falls off the wall. I bought it in January so it worked great for almost 4 months. Not sure what went wrong. I cleaned both the suction cups and the wall again with alcohol to remove any possible residue. I just hung it again so I'll see if it stays up.Original review 1-17: This is a nice "towel" bar. I attached it to the back wall of my tub/shower unit so I'd have a convenient place to hang the suction bath mat I use. I don't like leaving it stuck to the tub floor. It stays wet under the mat and turns into a breeding ground for bacteria. I pull it up after each bath or shower and hang it up to dry on this rod.It was simple to attach to the shower wall and seems to be holding very nicely. I'm not "gentle" putting the mat on the rod or pulling it off again so it does seem to be firmly attached. It's attractive and very useful. 5Yup, I like them! Update: The towel bars did lose their suction shortly after my last review. Not one to give up too soon, I tried a different way of attaching them. First, I cleaned both the shower wall and the suction cups, rinsed and dried thoroughly. Then I applied alcohol to both surfaces. While they were still wet, I pressed the cups on the wall making sure they were totally flat against the wall and lowered the clips to secure them. They haven't moved since. That was about a month ago. I have a good feeling about this, but I will update this review should they decide to come down again. I still love how they look.Original review:I like this towel bar so much that I ordered another one a few weeks after I received it. I use them in the shower to hang our washcloths to dry because we were getting mildew on them when hung on hooks. They are adjustable, look nice, should not rust or pit and the price is right. I did have a bit of trouble getting the suction cups to stay at first, but then I tried putting them up totally dry, pressing them firmly against my totally dry shower surround before locking them in. Be sure the suction cups are dry inside so mildew doesn't form. I would suggest putting them in an area where the shower water does not hit directly. They have stayed up for over 2 weeks with no sign of loosening. I have my fingers crossed. This is much better than drilling a hole in my shower wall. I have looked for something like this for a long time and it is worth a bit of trouble even if they do lose their suction once in a while. 4
