Ethical Service Tech! A very ethical service tech that was doing the semi annual inspection on my system told me the cost to replace my filter was $85 bucks. Then told me about these Honeywell filters that were available for much less. Since I'm a handy man around the house I had always changed my filters until installing a new system and had been letting them do it for a couple of years. Now for less than the price of them changing it once I get two filters and change them myself. My cost for a filter change dropped $50+ bucks. 5Filters not like shown in picture. I bought these by looking at the picture as shown but what I got is not exactly what is shown, so my opinion is based on my observation only. The number of pleats of filter as shown in picture is 17 but what I got was filters with only 12 pleats, with fewer pleats the filtering capacity is oblviously less.I do not know if this is actually Merv 11 as they claim because there is no way for consumer to know for sure.what came out of my A/C unit the filter is with 17 pleats and fabric filter. Delivery was prompt and quick. 3great flow and filtration performance Own a HVAC business with my uncle, my grandfather put the electronic system in years ago at the business location, so used this filter when it went out. Worked very well, great flow and filtration performance. This filter lasted about 6-8 months. Filter life really depends on a lot of factors...Usage - if you live in a cold or hot environment (such as us in Tucson, AZ) and your system is running quite often then filter life will decrease.Pets - if you have annals which shed definitely expect a decline in filter performance cheaper 1 inch filters are bad after a month around hereDust/Pollen - Outside elements and seasonal allergens mess with filters as well and heavy traffic in and out of a house/ structure affects that as well. Vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning regularly will help with this and prolong filter life plus it keeps your place clean and more breathable (applies to pets as well). This is experience from being in a HVAC biz and my biggest recommendation is to check your filters regularly! We have had so many calls come in where people had problems with their system and it turned out to just be a filter that was horribly clogged up or a filter was so clogged up it caused the compressor to fry. So check your filters! It will help avoid expensive repairs or a technician saying you're low on refrigerant when you're really not.Pictures are filters way past needing changed. 4Is this a counterfeit item? This filter is only worth half the listed price. The filter I received has 50% fewer pleats than the filter shown in the picture. Hence there is 50% less filter surface area which significantly limits the filter life. I'm shocked that Honeywell put their brand name on this item given the poor quality and associated fraud in the inducement. It's possible this could be a counterfeit item. Also, the Amazon fulfillment center did not pack the item properly. As a result, the filter arrived with moderate damage. 1Great filter but rough travels I'm going 4 stars because it did arrive damaged, but usable. My unit is located in the attic and I had a service call scheduled. The original filter had only been in place 6 months and was full of South Carolina dust and pollen, so this filter actually works great. This replacement arrived with one side pretty banged up and the cardboard strips torn on both sides. We straightened it out and refolded the pleats as best as we could and the service tech felt it was usable. It was not packed with any padding and was probably stacked in the UPS truck crushing one side. Needs to be padded in the shipping box or labeled DO NOT CRUSH 4Always go with the name brand In the past I have used off brand or allowed my heating and air conditioning company to replace the filter (they use off brand as well) when they come out for maintenance. I always noticed that the filters I have been getting are not the exact same size at the filter compartment. They are 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter than they are supposed to be which leaves a gap for air to get around and the filter sits kind of lopsided air pushes past it. I always thought it was my filter compartment being oversized. It turns out that many off brand filters cheat and instead of delivering 20" x 25" x 5" they give you a filter that is slightly smaller which I assume is a cost cutting measure. This time I bought the Honeywell filter and it fit snugly in the filter compartment. I'll never go back to off brand again. 5Cheat in manufacturing The filters I received have the Honeywell name and the correct model number on them. But there are only 12 pleats/folds, not the 16-17 as in the product picture. This means at least 25% reduction in surface area compared to those in the product picture. Furthermore, compared with some other filters, these Honeywell are pleated along the longer side. Pleating along the longer side requires less material and surface area than pleating along the shorter side with the same number of folds. Once I use these up, I will switch to other brands that offer more folds and pleating along the shorter side (for example, the one made by FilterBuy on the bottom in the attached picture in comparison to the Honeywell on the top).AFB 20x25x5 Honeywell Replacement Pleated AC Furnace Air Filter, AFB Gold MERV 11, Box of 2. Replaces Honeywell part # FC100A1037. 2however it certainly does not look like the Honeywell filter it replaced and certainly different from ... I thought I was buying a genuine Honeywell Filter, however it certainly does not look like the Honeywell filter it replaced and certainly different from the picture, so this makes me think is it a knock off? am I paying for genuine parts and getting cheap counterfit? Please can the supplier comment 1Counterfeit filter? This filter is different than what is for sale at the local store. This filter has half the pleats, has black printing on all 4 sides (local store has red printing) and its printing has different information. The filter I bought at the local store also feels heavier, I wish I'd have weighed this one before using it to compare. I don't know for sure that this is a counterfeit filter but it sure seems that way. 1Good Deal On These Filters... First - These filters are 4 and a half inches thick. I have ordered this Honeywell product number several times and the items have been labeled 4 and 5 inches thick. After emailing the seller here I received a quick response that they also experience many questions about this filter's dimensions. If you are looking for a 20"x25"x 4.5" filter, THIS is what you will get.Second - This filter is a MERV 11 high quality filter that is great for cleaning airflow in a residential home. I,m very happy with the filtration results after upgrading a couple years ago from a lower MERV rating filter. This filter is being used in a new Carrier high efficiency furnace with a DC blower motor.Third - Cost is very attractive with this seller. I could not find a lower per filter price anywhere.Fourth - This seller is very responsive to any questions and they delivered my order quickly on a cross country shipment.Highly recommended. 5
