    Cannot use this with Roku stick... Due to heat from Roku Updated 3 star:. After thinking about this thing for awhile... I decided to try plugging in my laptop and streaming something with it. It works perfectly. My thoughts... The device cannot handle the heat from the Roku stick. It does get crazy hot. I am going to try to use our other Roku (box) and see if it works ok.Original 1 star review: This thing is a pain. Constantly losing the video until you get the cables (both ends) wiggled to a position it likes. We have successfully used our Roku in multiple TVs and locations without this device.... so not our Roku or the TVs. I even purchased new cables thinking that was the problem... nope. The box feels very lightweight and cheap. 3Works on android TV boxes too I bought two of these, one worked fine and one was immediately acting up, i suspected the set top tv box , but in the end it was one of these units all along, I was within 12 months on the purchase of these so the warranty should have held, but they didnt respond to my report. If you need this find a better company to buy from, one with good reviews. I used this just over a month before one failed, they have no support,I am out 30 bucks or whatever. If you get one and have weird color issues, dont suspect your hardware like i did, almost from the start everything was pink loking and the video would cut out to the tv color bar screen, dunno what that is exactly but its been in television since forever, stations would default to that screen before going off air. But anyway , be wary of this seller.I changed my rating to one since one of the units was faulty and i emailed these guys, and they havent answered, its been a week. crappy customer service 1Lets me input Roku to my DVR My DVR has no HDMI input for the Roku, so this converter was just the thing. I am used to recording my TV shows, mostly PBS, off the roof antenna. So I set up the Roku, via this converter, to input to my DVR as well. The converter's setup instructions were good (essential!) and helpful. I've had the converter for about a year, seldom use the Roku except when I miss an important show, and it's stayed working just fine.I upped my local public television station's annual contribution to $60 in exchange for their Passport service, which lets me record a ton of PBS shows including Masterpiece. ABC's Roku channel will let you record prime time shows, like Grey's Anatomy, for free, a week after they first air. 5Works greak with HDMI only Roku on standard definition TV I bought this unit to connect a new Roku unit, which only has an HDMI output, to my old standard definition tube TV. The short review...it works as expected. I would recommend this product.The longer review:This converter kit comes with everything you need to hook up an HDMI video source to a unit that only has Composite (Red/White/Yellow) AV cable input. Inside the box you get:-The converter box-Power supply with micro usb cable to power the converter-HDMI cable to hook your source to the converter-RCA cables to hook the converter to your TV/VCR etc.Some of the HDMI converter boxes available do not work while plugged in. You have to charge them first, then unplug them from the wall. This unit can remain plugged in and it will work. This is a huge benefit for me, as I don't want to have to remember to charge the converter etc. The unit itself feels fairly cheaply made. The plastic isn't very heavy duty but it shouldn't matter since it won't be banged around much. There is a switch on the side for NTSC/PAL. I haven't had any issues with the switch causing the signal to go out, as some others have claimed happens with other brands.The picture quality is fine. I cant expect much from since it is hooked up to an standard definition TV. It looks as good as if you had basic cable hooked up to a standard definition TV. My Roku only outputs in 1080p or 720p, and the unit has no issues displaying 720p on the 480i TV. It may appear slightly squished since the 720 signal is 16:9 widescreen and an SD tv is 4:3.Overall I am very pleased and I would recommend this unit over some of the slightly cheaper ones. 4Worked until it didn't I was using this to connect a blu-ray player to my television as it is the old tube type. This worked the first two times I used it, the picture on the TV was in color, but since then every time I tried it would only display in black and white. I disconnected and reconnected everything to no avail. Checked the NTSC/PAL switch, too. I took the DVD player to a friend's house and connected to his flat screen TV to make sure it wasn't the DVD player, which is brand new, btw. The player was fine, so it appears to be the box. I've initiated a return with Amazon. 1This Converter work with other electronics as well,not just for Roku models. My HD cable Box with one HDMI output (top resolution 1080 I ) and one composite output.As per instruction : if HDMI output is used,no signal from composite output and this why I can't use different outputs at the same time. I have Pioneer DVR,great but old model with top resolution of 720 x 480 ( 720 P ) and without a HDMI input.I have tried to find a solution which give me achance to continue use my DVR. After search on Amazon Website I have ordered a HDMI to 3RCA Composite AV Converter by Bleiden .Because Cable Box has only one HDMI output ( in order to use Converter by Bleiden ). I have use HDMI Splitter and connect HDMI output of my Splitter to HDMI input of my Converter.This Converter by Bleiden , converts HDMI signal from Cable box into standard definition via composite (red/white/yellow) when connected to my DVR thru a HDMI 1in x 4 out Splitter by Cable Matters. Connection was simple.Picture resolution is 720 x 480 ( 720 P ). Happy with my purchase. From now on never miss a programs I'd like to watch. 5Saved the day I purchased this for my brother who had to make a video presentation in a venue with an old style TV (no HDMI). He is in another state so I sent it via Prime delivery which was spot on, it arrived the morning of the presentation as scheduled. I was a bit concerned as he is a bit of a klutz with electronics. But, he reported back that the instruction were easy to follow, and that the presentation from laptop to old TV went well. Now, if I can just get him to reimburse me, all will be well in the world. 5FINALLY A Converter That Works with Roku Ultra 4600R!! For anyone like me who has bought/returned numerous adapters and converters only to find that they didn t work with a Roku Ultra your search has ended. I have a 1998 Toshiba 4:3 tv with 480i signal. It s old but has a nice picture plus great sound quality. I was dreading the thought/expense of having to buy a new tv but thanks to Bleiden, I don t have to. After trying various converters/adapters that didn t work, I even spoke with a local home entertainment company who said that that was nothing I could do. I specifically asked if they knew of any adapters or converters that I could use on my old tv and they said no.So I kept searching for converters that work with the newest Roku Ultra and decided to give this Bleiden a try. Their email communication is EXCELLENT with quick, detailed responses. This seller obviously takes pride in their company and products as when the package arrived, it had not one but TWO sets of directions...one was inside the box and the other was a separate insert specific to Roku devices. I followed that insert to the letter and it works perfectly.Things I like:1. The simple, easy to understand, step by step directions2. Separate power supply that you plug into a wall.3. Only device I bought that properly converts the Roku Ultra 720p/1080p down to the 480 of my tv.4. The 4:3 on my tv is almost full screen with a tiny black border around all 4 sides but don't even notice it.5. The picture is slightly squished but appropriate considering that my tv is only 480.6. Contrary to other converters that I tried...the Roku menu, functions, channels are all properly centered on the tv screenThings that remain to be seen:7. It does run a little hot but with all my electronics, I have them elevated on kitchen baking cooling racks (so air can circulate underneath) and have a small desk fan running when they are on. The fan faces the rack with the modem, Roku, this converter and keeps things nice and cool so heat shouldn t be a problem.9. Longevity-hope this lasts for a while so we shall see!!Thanks Bleiden this converter saved me from having to get a new tv now and buys me the necessary time to research tv's for when I eventually need to replace this one. 5Works Great on old RCA CRT Television this converter really works. it is important to plug in the av plug for the converter as well as the plug for the roku device - both need electricity for this to work. once i did this the device worked beautifully on my RCA crt television which has the red white and yellow connectors but no hdmi. even better, i tried this same converter on my old 13" tv set that only takes an rca cable - doesn't even have the composite jacks. i used an RF modulator which allows me to connect the cable to the RF modulator, and composite (red white yellow) from RF modulator to the Bleiden HDMI 3RCA AV converter. connected the roku to Bleiden HDMI 3RCA AV converter and like i said connected Roku and Bleidend to av - actually to a power strip and it still worked. I got the Roku working on my old tv set and was even able to use my iphone and cast videos from Youtube onto my old tv! so really great to still be able to use my old tv and unlike the digital tv's you can see the screen from any viewing angle. i actually also have a digital tv that i'm pleased with but this is great for the old tv that still works perfectly well and you don't want to part with. Great Product! 5It Tends To Shut Off/On Randomly bought this to be able to use my Roku stick since the HDMI ports in my TV seem to not support the current copy protection (only 3 years old) so had to use composite inputs. This was very easy to connect and plug stick into and get up and running. The problem is randomly it shuts off and turns back on. There seems no definable pattern to this as are times it can go a few hours where other times within 20 or 30 minutes it resets. Screen goes blank then color bars then back to what I was watching. The stick does not shut down just This adapter. When it is working picture is very clean and looks good. My TV tells me the picture is at 561P coming from the adapter going through the composite connection. Not sure if that is more my TV or this adapter but worth noting obviously the picture should be expected to be of lower resolution coming from composite connection. Would be easy 5 stars if it stayed on. The seller did contact me as to how I liked it and I mentioned the issue but I had already tried their suggestions before the email but I appreciate their attempt to help. 3
