Customer Reviews

Does what it's supposed to! I bought this cable after I built my custom gaming PC but after spending so much money on the parts I was left with no budget for a new monitor. Of course my GPU had an HDMI output but I was not going to get neck pains from looking up to my TV all day so I decided to look for a way to use my older computer monitor. After looking online this was the first cable that I found. Looked at the reviews and I decided to give it a shot, after all if it didn't work it wasn't that much money lost. I was expecting to be disappointed by the cable but to my surprise it worked without a hitch. All I did was plug the cable into my GPU and to my monitor and it just worked. That's it, It just works!!If you are in the same situation that I was and you need to connect an older monitor to a new GPU then this is definitely the cable for you!Note: make sure that you need DVI-I and not the DVI dual they are different connections! 5Did not work This cable did not work when trying to connect my MacBook Pro to an VGA port. I've tried multiple devices (projectors, and monitors / Dell, Sony, other name brands)... My DVI to HDMI cable works fine on all those other devices, but when teaching at some facilities they have older equipment that does not have HDMI.Cable physically looks good, no bent pins or anything of that nature. 1so that pretty much puts the blame on the cable The cable didn't work at all. I tried it from my computer's DVI output to an HD tv with a VGA input, no new monitor detected. The same HD tv gets a signal from my laptop via a straight vga to vga cable, and from my desktop via an HDMI connection. The DVI port on my video card also works when connected to a monitor with DVI in, so that pretty much puts the blame on the cable. The refund price is barely worth the time it takes to package, label, and deliver the package for a refund, so I posted this review instead. 1Better than an adapter plug If you are setting up a second monitor, go with the proper cable.I'm not sure if it says, but this cable also has the ferrite bead on it, so youdon't have to worry about outside noise. (It's the same as the factory cable)I am running a ViewSonic P225 and a new Dell monitor (on top) through a GeForce 6200 and a windows xp3 op sys.The Dell hook up was clean with this cable and I did not have to mess around withDVI-I to VGA plugs or Gender interfaces. It makes the set up much cleaner. 5Not sure how to describe the effect... Bad image. I switched out the cable with different ones (not necessarily a DVI-to-VGA adapter but with this specific cable, it was causing the monitor to display things weird. It was like the image was stretched horizontally. Everything was noticably blurry; not like a Gaussian blur. To anyone familiar with Photoshop, take a 1920x1080 screenshot and apply a Motion blur filter to it with an angle of 0 and a distance of 8 pixels. That's roughly what it looked like but with streaking that I can't replicate easily with just a filter. In short, it gave me a bad image. Can't recommend the cable I got whatsoever. 1horrible quality, but good enough for the price paid.... for now. horrible quality, but a tiny bit tolerable.this thing made me think my monitor was going bad....it makes horizontal lines that move in a vertical motion up the screen, using an LCD samsung 2433BW in the analog....this monitor doesn't have any problems in the digital, nor has it given me problems in the analog before. There is also ghosting in most fonts on the right side.....that make you think your eyes are going bad. Waiting on other parts for the time being. Overall - Piece of junk, but at least it didn't cost that much money. 2Worked perfectly fine for me Worked perfectly fine for me. DVI-VGA compatibility depends on the DVI port of the device you're wanting to plug it into. MAKE SURE the large pin is horizontal or vertical on your device! Other wise this cable won't fit, because the hardware most likely doesn't support DVI-VGA conversion, and the manufacture of your device didn't want you try 5I got this cable so I could utilize both DVI and VGA ports on my monitors and have both the main PC and thin client running at t Just received the cable and plugged it in. I have both my main PC and a 'thin client' for cloud computing while I work from home. I got this cable so I could utilize both DVI and VGA ports on my monitors and have both the main PC and thin client running at the same time while easily switching back and forth. The cable did not work as expected right out of the box and caused an immediate ghosting effect. I tested the cable on each of my monitors to ensure the ports themselves were not bad, both monitors showed a poor fuzzy/ghosted image that was painful to the eyes. Also, I am using a DVI to VGA adapter for one of my monitors for my main PC, there is no ghosting/image problem.I am going to research a bit more to see if it is possibly a settings/user error and will be sure to improve/edit this review if a fix/setting is found. 1This Cable Works Great! I didn't know anything about DVI before ordering this cable, so I did a little research first. Make sure you are getting the correct cable for your system (read some of the previous reviews). There is a difference between DVI-I and DVI-D. I needed a DVI-I male to VGA male cable. This one fit the bill and works perfectly! I am using this cable to connect a DVI-I video card on a gaming computer to a VGA connector on an HDTV and the picture is crystal clear and super sharp. IMO, gold plated connectors are the best. You can't go wrong with this cable. For fast shipping, I recommend seller Discount Cable Store, who got my cable to me 2 days before I received my computer, well in advance of when I needed it! 5As Good as Any I don't know much about these cables but I did some online research and learned what kind I needed. I didn't know what it was called because there are several different styles of the same one, so I attempted to determine what I needed based on pictures. That wasn't a good idea. Had I been paying more attention to the title, however, I might have realized that DVI 24+5 meant there were 5 extra pins, instead of the one extra that I needed. I didn't see the 4 extra tiny pins in the picture so I ended up buying the wrong one. The product itself was no different in quality than one you might purchase at Radio Shack or Best Buy for 3 or 4 times as much $$. I could see it was of the same quality. The seller, HDE was wonderful about issuing me a refund. A good quality product, and good customer service goes a long way in my book. Next opportunity, I'll buy from them again. 5
