Customer Reviews

excellent product! excellent product!!! super accurate, real time updates and exact location at all times, mobile app works great too. plug it in and its working.highly recommend this product. 5Recommended Has done everything it said. SUPER easy set up!!! We bought this to track to hold accountability with an adult child who needed to gain trust back. Holding them accountable! Love it!! It has helped avoid battles and lying about whereabouts!!! Did I say I love it!!!! 5Standard equipment if you have a teen. Wonderful item.I'll be honest... this is not to teach our teen to be a better driver. This is to "trust but verify" what he tells us. This unit was so amazingly simple to install (in secret, of course), and is tucked nicely under the dashboard so it can't be seen. This may just be the design of the car we tagged, and we're sure the location of the port is different in different cars.As a junior license holder, our teen can't drive between 9 pm and 5 am, and we long suspected he wasn't telling us everything when he stayed at a friend's house overnight. Within 24 hours of installing this unit, we knew the truth. We also saw that he drove at 83 (!!!) MPH on the 65-MPH highway. And that he uses the brakes badly. This unit works better than our wildest dreams.5Not good at all!My old car will not start when I installed it, which is the car I intend to pass on to my new driver in our family. Then I installed it in my other car. It worked fine for 2 days and it slowly killed my alternator. I was so mad because I've just put a new battery in it. So I had to replace the alternator which cost about $400. Therefore, I will not recommend this GPS tracker for anyone. It's waste of my money and precious time.1don't buy this is you want to use it without your kid knowingThey call your house and try to sell you something, left a message on the machine, right during dinner, man that set me up for some awkward conversation. Thanks!! now they know....... not the point of what I was doing, other than that it works great and the software is easy to use.1Elderly driver monitoringMy 90 year old mother-in-law still drives. Yikes! She does not use a smart phone, so I needed a way to monitor and track her driving. After researching extensively, I chose the MotoSafety OBD Tracker. Although the device is used primarily for fleet usage and teenage driver applications, it seemed like the device could serve the purpose of monitoring an elderly driver and providing theft monitoring as well. I have been using the device for a month.Installation is purely simple. Just plug the device directly into the OBD (Onboard Diagnostic) port under the dash on the driver's side. As soon as the key is turned on, the unit powers up and begins its search for a GPS signal. There are apps available for both Apple and Android devices, as well as a direct link website for other type browser use. The sign up is easily accomplished with an email address. The actual setup is best done through the website rather than the app.Once the account is setup, the Tracker will show the current or last position of the tracker. It will record the actual track of the automobile that can be reviewed later. The track not only shows the routing taken, but will give stop points, how long the vehicle remained at a location, and the address of that location. Other useful features include geo-fencing, speed reporting, heavy braking/acceleration, time period usage and maintenance reporting.Since the Tracker specializes as a Teen Driving monitor, one can use geo-fencing to literally outline on a map an area that the car can be driven. The time period can be set to insure that a curfew is met. The heavy braking/acceleration can monitor not only good driving habits but can be used to alert for a sudden stop that might indicate an accident. The Tracker does not use air bag deployment but relies upon sophisticated algorithms to record acceleration/deceleration rates. Maintenance reporting shows current battery voltage, and fuel quantity on some newer vehicles. Apparently, engine trouble codes would be recorded, but I have not observed this feature. My primary concern was knowing when the car was being operated and the area where it is being used. The alert features helped to provide this info but required a work around. Normally, a parent would set up a time period that the car could be used and if the teenager was out after that time, an alert would be sent to the parents' phone, email, or both. Obviously, an elderly driver monitoring alert would require just the opposite information. On another review, I read that a daughter had set an authorized time period for her dad that she was sure he would not be driving, ie, 1am -3am. Any usage outside that time period would trigger an alert showing the car was being operated. The only small glitch is the actual alert shows as an Unauthorized Use alert when set up in this manner. If any other person is designated to receive alerts, they need to know how the alert works. Obviously, an alert showing usage outside a designated area would be highly valuable for a driver who becomes disoriented or confused while driving.A couple of other useful alerts are Idle and Tamper. A default time of 5 minutes of Idle time is initially set. If the car is On but idling for longer, an alert is sent. I find this feature to be especially helpful for an elderly driver in case of fatigue or incapacitation. The Tamper alert is triggered when the device is removed from the port. I have read that this alert can be triggered if the device is not securely positioned in the port. I have not had this issue. The purchase price through Agilis Systems was $24.99 through Amazon. A monthly monitoring fee through MotoSafety is $19.99. So far I am well pleased with the design, function, and usability of the device, the app, website, and customer support of Agilis. I highly recommend the device for anyone with teen or elderly drivers.5More features than you think. Couldn't be easier. Pop it into the port, download the app on as many phones as you wish, and you're done! You can watch the car travel on your phone or pc and get all related info. As we don't let our teens use their phones when driving, this allows us to see where they are in the event they forget to text us. Not sure if other reviews mention that you can set boundaries, speeds etc and receive a text immediately if violated, all without having to look at the app. I think every new and elderly driver needs this. Ps parents, it's pretty obvious that it's in the car (depending on car make and model), so don't try to hide it. Installation took all of 3 seconds. Highly recommend. $20 service charge per month is a small price to pay for peace of mind. 5SolicitingAfter about a month of service I started receiving this solicitation ad that pops up in the log in page and then again after I have logged in. I have to clear it before I can view the full map. This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I log in. They offer a $50.00 friend referral reward if a friend purchases their product. I believe this company has mistaken their customer as their employees. There is a " friend referral " box in the top right corner after log in but this is not enough for their aggressive approach of converting the customer into the employee. If you wish to purchase a tracking device and do not want to work as an employee, then I would suggest searching the feedback of other company's providing this service and go with the one that recognizes the difference in the customers and employees.1CAUTION! Didn t work and refused refundI purchased these to put into my elderly father s cars. You have to register the devices and enter your card information for the monthly payment before you can even try installing them or they won t connect. When I couldn t get them to connect with the app I tried calling customer support and got a voicemail. After more than an hour of messing with it I gave up and returned them. Amazon issued a refund for the actual GPS devices no problem but when I contacted MOTOsafety for a refund on the $20 they had already charged my card for the monthly payment I was told the company doesn t issue refunds. They were out of the box for less than two hours and didn t even work but not only do I have to pay but they prorated me the whole month. I repeat THEY FORCE YOU TO GIVE YOUR CARD INFORMATION BEFORE YOU EVEN KNOW IF THE PRODUCT WILL WORK AND THEN REFUSE TO REFUND WHEN IT DOESN'T!! Buyer beware.1Amazing Product to Monitor Your Teens Driving HabitsVery easy to set up and use, incredibly accurate. Great piece of mind wihen you set a young teen driver loose on the road.Need to review and adjust posted speed limits (esp in rural areas), set curfews, multiple geofences and push notifications preferences (many options)...once this is done, the app is amazingly accurate. It has given us the piece of mind setting our teen out on the road; $19/month subscription fee is money well spent! If car is temporarily out of commission and teen is driving another....just remove and plug into new vehicle...back up and running.Great product....all 'pros' .....no 'cons' what so ever!5Works as advertised. Highly recommended.I ordered this for my 16 year old daughter. I looked at a lot of competitive products, this one seemed to be the best one out there for teen driver coaching. The product shipped quickly. It was a lot cheaper to purchase on the Amazon.com website than the company website. It was easy to install. Just plug it in. It does require a monthly service charge for realtime driver information. $20 is very reasonable given it it enables parents to coach new drivers. The product gives vehicle location, and location were the vehicle was driven. Additionally it provides speed and acceleration and breaking alerts. The software gives the teen driver a daily report card. So far, my daughter has al As. :-) Lastly it gives vehicle info, such as the fuel level. Highly recommended product.5Excellent product, mobile app could use some work Excellent...wish there was a way to set up/change/remove geofences from the mobile app as well as highlight and hide other routes taken bc it looks like a mess with a lot of driving and taking the same roads. As well as the routes are not 100% accurate as to which roads were taken unless it s for a long period of time on a highway. So some improvements to be made with the Mobile app would be awesome, may contact customer service with feedback and possibly they can do an update for the app, for $20/month I can t complain for a real-time action. Im going to purchase the split obd2 cable on amazon so I can hide the plug more easily so I can say I removed it from the vehicle and see if they re going to the places they say they are ;) gatta be smarter then ur children haha 5good to know where he is atBought for my 80 yr old father, good to know where he is at, especially since he seldom carries his cell phone. Just be sure you check where the OBDII port is located on your car to make sure there is room for this device. On a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, it stuck down nearly 2 in front of the brake pedal where it could be easily kicked entering or exiting the car, so I had to buy a 90 degree OBDII cord that allowed me to install it more remotely.5Exactly what we wanted! This easy-to-install and use tracker is precisely what we wanted and exactly as described. We can review everything - where the car is in real-time, where the car has been, what routes were taken and when, what speeds were driven, hard breaking, etc. We can set up a variety of "alerts" and even tell if the device was disconnected. It's perfect! We recommend getting the extension cable - although the device is not large, the location where it plugged in was located by the drivers right knee and was easily knocked when entering and exiting the vehicle. The Diageng Low Profile Right or Left Angle OBD 2 II Extension with Flat Ribbon Cable 1'/30cm CAN Bus Compatible resolved that issue.Setting up the monthly service was easy - hopefully canceling will be just as simple. 5Great productThis is an excellent tracking device and was easy for this grandmother to install without any assistance. My son in law went over the blinking lights several times with a permanent marker so that the device would be undetectable to the average person. I was able to track the whereabouts of my car as it was being driven by a family member who was out on bail for drug-related issues. I had to do this because up until the point I kept falling for the lies being told to me and I knew I had to have some undisputed evidence when I confronted this person. My only issue was when I attempted to cancel the monthly service. Calls went unanswered or I was put on hold and then disconnected when it finally transferred me to an associate. Two emails were sent, acknowledged and then nothing. I talked to an online associate and he referred me back to the customer service number.UPDATE: Received a call from customer service and all issues were resolved satisfactorily.5
