Customer Reviews

The type of LED bulb needed for a Garage Door Opener! WOW, just what I needed for my new Garage Door Opener. I've tried other LED's in the past with my old single bulb opener and it killed range. My new opener takes 2 bulbs and so I have 2 of these. They're not super bright, but they're bright enough for my needs. Button range is as good as before. They're LED and so use a fraction of the power of normal bulbs, and less power then Compact Fluorescent Bulbs without having to warm up before having full brightness. I have LED's in most of the rest of my house also. Great thing is LED's will pretty much outlive you. No climbing up a ladder to change a bulb out anymore. There are only a few LED bulbs out there that don't effect a garage door opener. This is one of them. 5No more range envy, but needs a "daylight" version! The control board in my Overhead Door Odyssey opener died two months before the five-year warranty was up. Shortly after replacing the board, I installed LED lights. Since that time, the range of my handheld and HomeLink remotes was greatly diminished, but ONLY when trying to close the door right after opening it. After it had been closed for a while, the remote range while opening it was normal. I blamed the replacement board for months. I finally got frustrated enough while trying to close my garage door when leaving for work recently to do some research. I stumbled upon some posts about LED bulbs causing interference and found that Overhead Door (Genie) sold LED bulbs claimed to not interfere with the signal, so I figured I'd try some. To my pleasant surprise, after removing my Cree LED bulbs and replacing them with these Genie LED bulbs, my remote range was restored to its original, long range! Yay! The ONLY thing I don't like about them is the 3000K color temperature is too "warm". It looks like an incandescent bulb and I prefer "daylight"-colored bulbs in my garage. 5Genie poor customer communication Works as stated. What I m wondering is why Genie doesn t disclose this on a brand new garage door opener. I ve been battling this since my light bulb went out and replaced with the led bulb that everyone is selling now. After it was replaced I had nothing but problems...Home link stopped working remotes worked after pressing several times. Garage door opener was replaced and still same results. Considered taking my car in to the dealer to have the homelink diagnosed but didn t want to pay dealer costs and knew the problem of diagnosing this without being at the garage door.. finally I read reviews about this issue and contacted my garage door opener sales person. I found that this is a known Issue and Home Depot and amazon sell bulbs made by genie. Really? Why wouldn t genie tell customers or provide these bulbs instead of making them go through all the hassle? I replaced a garage door and an opener and it wouldn t work right because of an led bulb. 5Tried them out and they work great. Bright light in my garage now and using ... Real deal. Was wondering why my LED phillips bulbs wouldn't work. They would flicker or pulse in the socket sporadically. I also noticed my garage door wouldn't work as far as it did before (aka couldn't push my car garage door button a few houses down anymore...I then thought about the frequency interference and did a search and came across these bulbs. Found on Amazon for a reasonable price. Tried them out and they work great. Bright light in my garage now and using way less energy then the old incandescent bulbs we had in there. Since we go through the garage and enter the garage for our 2nd fridge, its nice not to have to turn on the actual garage light and instead just use the motion light provided by these LEDs.Works very well on our Chamberlain garage door AND we regained the ability to open/close the garage door from a few houses down again. 5Quality bulbs worth the price These bulbs are nice and bright, use hardly any electricity, and work great with my LiftMaster garage door openers. I liked the first one so much that I came back and ordered two more! They're expensive, but you're paying for the quality. When it comes to garage bulbs, you want a quality bulb that will last. I'd rather pay a little more up front and have the bulb last 5-10 years, than save a dollar or two now, but have to climb up on a ladder to swap out cheaper bulbs much more often.Note: these bulbs are 800 lumens, equivalent to a 60 watt older bulb. If you compare these to other garage door ("rough service") bulbs you'll find that these are about twice as bright as most of the 25 watt ones available. Also note: unlike the older CFL bulbs that took a long time to warm up, these bulbs are instantly bright. 5Caution: Not for Cold Climates - Interferes With Opener Signals!! This lamp, when the temperature falls under approx 40-45 F, emits RF emissions which interfere with the function of the openers. I've tried 3 different opener devices, my car's built in, a handheld opener and the codepad on my garage door side wall, and none will operate the door in either direction while the bulb is lit during cold weather. Once the bulb shuts off on timer, all openers function 100% normally. 1Fantastic little solution to a very nagging problem!! I had a steady problem with keeping the lights working in a Chamberlain overhead garage door opener -- they kept vibrating into a position where they would not stay on. I was still using incandescent bulbs, so I didn't have the remote control interference problem that some people have mentioned that these LEDB1-R bulbs solve, but I was constantly having to try twisting and adjusting the the incandescent bulbs to try and keep them working in the garage door opener... I tried using spacers and cleaned the sockets, but most of time there was only one bulb working, and often neither were working. With this new LED bulb, it's amazing! Since I put them in, I've had two fully lit bulbs working on demand over and over... It's great! Such a little thing, but what a difference these bulbs have made. Want to go out the garage in the middle of the night for something? ...No need to bring a flashlight. Just wave your hand near the motion sensor or turn on the switch and 'Presto!'... The garage is very well lit!! 5Must have for your garage - don't replace with "cheap" bulbs because they can affect range I don't know why, and I can't explain it. But these bulbs work better with the end-to-end system of a garage door opener. The "system" is a series of factors. I moved into my current home this year and the previous owners left behind a non-Genie remote which needed to be outside of the car, at less than 15 feet from the receiver, to open the door. I hated it. A friend told me before replacing the machine I should try it out by changing two things: the remote (to an original, newer model) and the lights. The previous owners had installed florescent bulbs, and a quick google search revealed this affects the machine's range. I replaced the bulbs with original Genie LED bulbs and the remotes with original parts and now I can open my garage from inside the car as I am approaching my home. Big difference, low cost. The light from the bulbs is not as bright as other LED's and even the previous fluorescent lights, but are bright enough for what you need them to be: to not enter home in the dark at night. 5Good bulbs that cost more for a very specific usage I am really hoping I did not buy into hype with this bulb cause it is expensive for a Type A base 60 watt equivalent LED bulb. I recently replaced my garage door openers (actually swapping Genies for Chamberlains). The range on the Genies wasn't that good and I was kind of sick of replacing incandescent bulbs. It could be the Genie's range were due to their bad rubbery feel remotes. The Chamberlains have a hard plastic button with a solid "click" to them so you know when you pushed the button. Still, I used these bulbs because I read that LED or Fluorescent bulbs can cause radio interference depending on how they are made. The Chamberlain install instructions specifically said don't use Fluorescent and I Googled and found out that it was actually both types. I will say that these are VERY white bright light, they are instant, there is no warm up with them to full brightness, and I have great range on my remotes now. Probably at least 50 yards without even having line of sight. So, I can say they definitely do not cause interference and they have held up for a few months with constant use. 5These bulbs fixed my wonky remotes I had a first gen LED bulb in the opener and it worked fine - it lit up the garage. But, the remote always acted wonky, sometimes working, sometimes not. After reading about the electronics of some LED bulbs interfering with remotes, I wondered if that was my problem. So I bought a pair of these bulbs to try. Problems with the remotes went away - they now work perfectly. Go figure! 5
