Customer Reviews

Great Peace of Mind for GE alarms! These Little Battery operated alarms are Great for what they are, Sure they arent ADT alarms but they do give you a decent amount of Peace of Mind! With these little alarms and a security window sticker and Securtiy Alarm front yard sign you can have a decent amount of Peace of mind for Home security Protection! I highly recommend these Little Alarms for anyone who needs some Peace of mind against Burglars, The alarms are Loud, I can say Both the Chime and the Alarm are Loud and i used these GE alarms for my Basement Windows and they work perfectly! Just my Honest Review for this Product, Hopefully i was of some help to someone interested in purchasing this Product. 5Highly Recommend Will buy again. Highly recommend.PROS:1) Price. Calculates to approximately $ 4 each2) Durable. I installed an alarm on a frequently used door a couple of years ago and batteries are just giving out. FYI: Batteries around $23) Reliable. As long as you install it according to the instructions and so long as someone doesn't turn it OFF, then rings every time the door/window is opened. I put a clear piece of tape over the leveler to turn OFF because someone in my household kept turning it OFF.CONS:1) Really loud. (I don't believe there is an option to lower the chime or alarm sound.)2) My package was missing 1 mounting tape for the fourth alarm. 4Works Well, Good Price, Order Them! Decent product for the price. 1 out of the 4 did not work out of the package. It was missing the plastic battery tab you have to pull prior to use so maybe the batteries were just dead...Depending on the framing and direction your door opens some of them may have to be mounted differently i.e which part attaches to the stable surfaces vs the moving one. If your door has an edged frame at all, like the pic I attached of my front door, there is absolutely no way to make this work where the magnets will align. I tried every possible side and angle of the door; kind of a bummer that the front door is the one it won't work for, so I'll have to find a different type for that. Overall, the ones I did attach to the sliding doors work great. I was worried the single chime mode wouldn't be noticeable enough but now I almost wish there were a volume setting on it, it's loud! There will be no missing it, which is the point. I have 3 small kids and a couple dogs. My daughters room has a sliding door out to a deck that I always worry about her wandering onto at night (I put that one on alarm mode), and they like to go out and leave the front door open which is a huge worry given that I have 2 large dogs that are not dog-friendly and we live in a neighborhood where everyone's lets their pets wander around without leashes all day. Now I can better tell when the door is opened so I can make sure it gets closed! For the doors we use frequently I change it from chime to alarm mode at night, I really like that it's as easy as flicking a switch to go between them, huge bonus. Overall it's a good product, but only works with standard framing. I plan to order more for our windows soon. 4Great break-in deterrant, very loud! We bought these as just one extra safety precaution for our house. We ended up putting them on our basement egress windows just in case someone decided to break in. We will also put one on our storage area downstairs as well.We did a test of these when we first got them, and man are they loud! Which is great when you're looking at items like this. My husband went downstairs and tested them out, and even sitting in the living room watching TV with all doors to downstairs shut, I could easily hear them go off as he tested each one. These seem like high quality little protection devices. They come with super strong tape to stick to whatever surface you want them to go on. They stay secure and don't move. However, when you take them apart (such as open a window or door) be sure to plug your ears because there is no way somebody is sneaking in.Pros: Good loud sound, very high quality 3M type tape to secure, easy to install and set upCons: None. We may end up buying another pack of these. 5Nice! These little things are great and they have a chime and alarm feature which is LOUD. Batteries come with it. The only thing is that I don't trust sticky tape or glue so I looked to see if there was a way to drill a small hole and screw them in - and there is, and I used my cheap drill press and a small bit big enough for a #4 stainless pan head sheet metal screw to fit through. The hole for the main unit can be where you take out the screw already there that holds the back to the front. (you can't see it unless you take off the battery cover for the 4 LR-44 batteries. On the magnet unit, only the top half of the little magnet unit that fixes to the door frame has the magnet. You can shine the thing under a bright light and see where it is. Just drill the other half. Get some #4 screws like I said (I used 1" and 1 1/4") and just mark the spots to drill on the door and frame with a thin scratch awl or tiny brad nail while holding it in position. Drill the wood and install the pieces and screw. They won't fall down next year in your basement when the tape finally gives way and the thing wakes you up in the middle of the night. 5The two of the four which work, work well. :-/ This product is a little disappointing, but about what you might expect for the money. They feel like cheaply made toys and that reflects the quality of the electronics inside the units, half of which did not and do not function properly. They are small enough to use on most window frames although obviously some thought must go into exact placement. I discovered that, to avoid them being easily seen from the outside, I can place them on top of the lower half of double hung windows, completely hiding the unit from outside view (preventing the mode switch being seen from the outside). This also reduces the probability of the unit falling off (in the event of the adhesive tape's failure) because it is lying flat on top of the frame. The volume is adequate and the alarm can be heard from one end of our rather large house to the other and continues sounding until turned off at the switch or the window is closed. The chime is almost as loud and, of course, not as obnoxious and only sound for a few seconds. The reason for only 3 stars is that two of them do not function properly. They've been installed for about a week. Disappointingly, one of the four units' alarm mode failed "out-of-the-box" and another unit's alarm mode will only chirp and not continue sounding if the window is raised quickly. This creates uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the product having a long service life. We'll see and I'll try to remember to update my review after they've been in service for a while. I plan to order another package for I'm interested in whether the percentage of non-functioning units will be the same. Also, these will not readily work on most residential doors due to the offset from the frame molding to the surface of the door. A supporting block could be affixed to the door which would place the alarm unit in juxtaposition with the magnet. Some modification to decorative molding would have to also be made in order to affix the magnet securely.Having done several tests, I'm reasonably confident the ones that actually work will provide adequate warning in case of unauthorized intrusion and will adequately support our home defense strategy. 3Super loud! We just recently purchased a home with a pool and I am terrified of the kids going outside without my knowing. We didn't have a lot of extra money available to put hardwired alarms on all the bottom windows and doors so we gave these a try. These are awesome. They were easy to install and are extremely loud. Anytime I forget the alarm is turned on and open the door, my kids all cover their ears! I love that I can turn it off when I am going in and out (like grilling) and then turn it back on when I am done.Great easy way to add some safety alarms to any windows or doors!I hope you found this review helpful. If you did I would appreciate it if you would click YES below! 5Not For Homes With PETS or Children! Now let me explain the title of this review: We purchased two packs of these and installed them on all the entry ways to our home. The sound is loud enough to hear from all areas of the house which I would rate a 5/5, however, the issue we had with every single of one of these alarms is that they fell off the doors in 4 days. Both the alarm itself and the magnetic strip came crashing to the ground. The what seemed like very sticky backing to these devices slipped right off of our doors (Noted: We were sure to clean the surfaces and let them dry overnight before placing the alarms on the doors so that this would not happen and so that the surface was bare with no chance of dirt or other particles preventing the sticky from sticking). The issue with this is that we have pets and young children. When the alarm falls, the 4 small batteries about the size of a fingernail scatter across the floor in every direction. We were chasing cats, dogs and children around the house trying to get the batteries out of toddler hands and animal MOUTHS. In NO WAY do I see this acceptable in any way. We all know, swallowing batteries can have life-ending consequences- a risk no parent is willing to take. We are extremely dissatisfied with the purchase and will not purchase again. These were meant to keep our home safe and not do the exact opposite. 1Price is right and they work as intended. For the cost of these they are a good purchase. The build quality feels good and they work as advertised. Yes if the door or window is closed the alarm will shut off but most intruders will be long gone from the noise these make. I ordered 3 packs and my only complaint so far is that one pack was missing one of the double sided tape for the unit but I don't think that warrants a star deduction. Will see how they hold up. Directions say batteries should last a year between change outs 5Comes with batteries so they are ready to use out of the package. VERY loud as well+ Great basic alarms. Dual function. Has a switch on the side that allows you to chose between a loud constant loud Alarm or Door Chime to alert when someone has opened the door. Sounds similar, if not the same, as when you walk into a corner store. If you use these for at home, they can be very loud, which is great for those that are hard of hearing or to get your attention in just about any room in the house. All 4 come with batteries, so they are ready to use out of the package.I would highly recommend to REMEMBER to clean the surface that you stick these to. That with anything that you stick to any surface. Also, use a blow dryer to heat up the surface that you stick each piece to. Once you apply each piece, hold it in place with your fingers or hand for about 60 seconds to ensure that these will stay stuck to the surface. The heat will help ensure initial stickiness for long term use. 5
