Better than the rest Better than the rest. Cleanest lines. Easiest removal (without ripping or leaving a ragged edge).Frog Tape utilizes technology that stops paint bleed-through.This technology is activated by moisture, so if you need a clean line and cannot seal edge with other color, then you can take a damp rag and gently wet the edge. The other BIG advantage, is that it removed without ripping r sticking to surface. You are not going to be picking off bits of green tape, when removing. The other tapes tend to leave a lot of tape behind when removing. (All tape should be removed as soon as possible after painting but no longer than 24-48 hours for best results).Great tape, worth the extra cost when a clean line is imperative. I am a painting contractor. 5Something has changed... I was a Frog Tape convert (the blue stuff never worked well) and have swayed many friends/family members to make the switch, too. However, Frog Tape seems to have changed something recently. I noticed that package now says something like "improved blocking technology" or something to that effect - well, this seems to have made things worse! If you let the paint dry, the tape now tends to peel chunks of the new paint off with it, leaving nasty looking lines at times. If you read the directions, it says to remove the tape before the paint dries, but how can you do that if you need to apply 2 coats? I'm not going to tape twice and use twice the amount of tape! So, I'm less of a Frog Tape fanatic at this point. It still performs better than the other tapes, but it my enthusiasm for it has definitely waned. 3It s garbage! The only things it will stick to is ... Do not buy this! It s garbage! The only things it will stick to is clean glass, vinyl window frames, and itself. It will NOT stick to painted walls or clean tile floors. Don t really think I did anything wrong, cleaned the surfaces to be masked, allowed a very sufficient time for it to air dry, wiped it with a dry cloth and then tried to mask - it failed miserably. Grabbed a role of 3M Blue painters tape and it adhered flawlessly. 1A bit spendy but solves an RC modeling problem One of my hobbies is RC modeling, which often includes spray painting additional markings to a model over its factory paint job. The paint applied to foam models has a deserved reputation for adhering poorly to the model, and pulling off with nearly any masking tape, even blue painter's tape "de adhesived" by pressing on a shirt (which then creates a problem getting a sharp edge). The edge sealing is accomplished by the edges having a polymer coating that gels on contact with water based paints. To protect its edge sealing capability, it must be stored in its packaging. The edge sealing is active only with water based (acrylic) paints, which I use almost exclusively.I was skeptical about a "new, improved" masking tape at a very premium price, but was unsatisfied with the "blue tape blues", and the Frog Tape delivered. Its edge sealing technology is a big improvement over any tape I've used to date. It is better than blue tape, but for delicate surfaces like RC foam model painted surfaces, the Frog Tape Yellow provides the same edge sealing with less adhesion.PROSEdge sealing works as advertised with acryilic paintsWorks as a good tape for enamels/lacquer, but no value added in terms of edge sealingAvailable in "delicate surface" yellow version which works great for RC modelsCONSA bit pricey compared to other tapes, but worth it in the time saved fixing areas with paint pulled off by other tapes. 5Like any pro I am a professional custom painter in SW Florida. We use Frog Tape almost daily. Like any pro, I can cut a straight line. But Frog Tape allows us to cut a PERFECTLY straight line with perfect crisp edges. Frog Tape, like many others, is difficult to use in high humidity. I gave this 4 stars not because the product itself is deficient, but because the canisters were all broken inside the box. Also, since I've purchased, the price has been jacked up and I can get the same thing locally for less. 4Old FrogTape? Would hardly stick to any surfaces. I've boughten FrogTape from improvement stores and have never had an issue with it. But this one time I decided to order from Amazon since I needed to order a bunch of other things. The tape I got from them did not want to stick to anything, it kept peeling up after a few seconds and would not stay down. I ended up having run to the store and pick up another one, which had none of the issues that the Amazon roll had..So either the tape that is being sold on Amazon is old, or it is not being stored properly, causing the adhesive to degrade.. 1Great if used properly. This is for people who don't paint much. I don't have the time to learn how to cut-in (painter-speak for painting a straight line freehand), so I use this. It works. It takes a long time to apply. It's a pain in the butt. But it's worth it if you want a straight line. You have to put it exactly where you don't want paint to go. You MUST press it very firmly along the edge so that paint doesn't bleed through. A finger with a short fingernail works well. (Don't expect any recent manicures to last long.) If the surface you are pressing it on is freshly painted, you should wait for it to dry at least two days, preferably more, before you put the tape on. You don't want to ruin the paint you have already done! A couple of tips after reading other's complaints. Do not overload your paint brush. More paint is not better. You only need enough on the brush to put a light layer on. Let that dry for at least an hour and then paint a second light layer. Don't jam the brush against the tape. If you do, you are more likely to break the barrier and the paint will bleed through. More importantly, I don't care WHAT the label says... DO NOT remove the tape until the paint has dried! JUST DON'T! And remove the tape carefully, pulling it off at a downward angle so that you don't also pull off the dried paint. I hope this helps. 5Good, but too pricey to use when painting an entire house, in my opinion This tape does leave very clean lines, and it worth the investment if you're super picky and want everything to be perfect. However, I'd suggest anything that's larger in width because this thin width just doesn't give enough "wiggle room" for someone, like myself, who is not a professional painter.I bought a few kinds of painters tape when repainting my entire house, and I ended up using the blue painters tape from Scotch, the thicker width, and it worked just fine.If money is no question, buy this in a wider width, but if you're looking for something more economical you can use the cheaper stuff and it'll look just fine. 4I used this to make a painted floor pattern for ... I used this to make a painted floor pattern for an entry way. I've never had a paint tape product that worked this well. Sharp lines and no touch ups needed. 5The Best Stuff for Lines The best stuff to use for painting lines with different colors. Be sure to seal it in one more time with your fingers just before painting and you're good to go. I didn't need to do any sort of wet line or tricks to make this thing work. Laser level, press and seal firmly, paint, and remove shortly after your final coat. 5
