Customer Reviews

Solid metal and works great This is solid metal and works very well. In our master bath the toilet is in a very small separate room. We used to put toilet paper on a holder and it sat behind the toiler which is not convenient. This type of toilet paper holder is pretty old school but I loved the idea of space behind the wall so I ordered it. I used my multimax to cut a hole in the drywall between studs. Used the separate $6 bracket that is needed to install and it went right in. It's very sturdy and nice looking. For toilet paper storage i'm building two shelves to go above the toilet and will store a few rolls in a basket on that. If you have limited space around your toilet this is a great option. Totally off topic but Amazon also sells bidets for $30-$40 that hook up to your current toilet and water line. You will cut down on toilet paper use significantly. Its not often I call something life changing but a bidet has been for our household. We are using 80%-90% less toilet paper and much cleaner. Just search bidet and see all the options. 5Edge detail makes this look expensive This is the second Franklin Brass recessed TP holder, in brushed nickel, that we have purchased. We are changing our bathroom hardware to brushed nickel. I find this to be a quality piece. The roller is also sturdy metal in brushed nickel color. The roller spring is fixed inside the roller so it wont pop out and roll across your bathroom floor. The spring is really strong. This creates an upside and downside. Upside: the roller will stay put and not pop out of the holder. Downside: if you have weak fingers, such as from arthritis, you may find the roller too difficult to remove. This tp holder comes with 2 matching wood screws which will be adequate for mounting if the hold in your drywall has wood backing to receive the screws. If there is no wood backing, you will need the Franklin Brass Mounting Bracket, which comes with 2 matching machine screws of adequate length. If you have the screws and bracket, installation is very fast. 5Great Quality, Easy Install (with good clamp) Works with Jumbo rolls. I ordered a couple of these in satin nickel. The quality is great and the install is easy. They don't come with an install clamp, so you'll need to order one. I highly recommend ordering the Futura Clamp instead of the Gatco clamp, as the Futura has built in spring tension and is stronger and probably easier to use.A couple tips:1) When uninstalling the original in-wall holder, try not to unscrew it all the way. If you do, everything will drop into your wall. If you go most of the way, you should be able to wiggle all the hardware out.2) Start the two screws into the clamp before attempting to install the new one. Then ease the clamp into the hole and align the holder. Finally, screw it all the way in.Easy! The new holder looks a lot better than the horrendous chrome (with plastic spool) that builders seem to like to put into houses. It's an inexpensive fix that adds a bit of class to your bathroom! After a few days of use, I've realized that my "Big" rolls of Charmin Ultra Strong leave plenty of free space when new. I'm guessing that the "Jumbo" sized rolls will probably fit without issue, which is something I can't say about my original holders. I'll get some Jumbos and double-check my theory. I got the Charmin "Mega" rolls and they fit without being too tight, though the "Triple" rolls, which are slightly smaller, would probably fit better. Excellent! 5Nice replacement holder Got this recently to replace the builder grade holder that came with the house. We wanted something with a brushed nickle finish that would go well with the fixtures we were putting into the bathroom. The finish on this coordinated perfectly. The unit is very sturdy and much heavier than I expected. Unfortunately, I could not use the wood blocking that the old holder attached to, as the new holder goes a bit further into the wall. So, I ended up ordering the Franklin mounting bracket. I removed the wood blocking and was easily able to install the holder. The bracket made installation easy. Just tighten the two supplied screws and the bracket clamps the holder to the wall. The TP holder bar is metal that matches the finish of the holder, not plastic. However, the spring is really rather strong, so it takes more effort than necessary to replace a roll. The bar does not come apart when changing a roll. 4Classy TP dispensing; Telescoping insert a little too stiff I agree with other reviewers that the quality of construction and polished chrome finish are first rate. We opted to use the Franklin Brass 600R mount bracket which provided a very snug attachment to the sheet rock wall. A fresh Kirkland brand TP roll will rest on the lower rim of the recess opening, which produces just the right amount of friction for one-hand "pull and tear" dispensing. Our old standard paper holder was not as deep and the roll would rub against the back surface of the recess, requiring two hands to rotate and tear a length of paper. Only problem we experienced (also mentioned by other reviewers) was the stiffness of the the telescoping roll insert which made it impossible for my wife to install new TP rolls without first cutting off the spent paper spool. We solved that problem by reusing a less stiff chrome insert from the previous holder. I didn't demerit for the too-stiff roll insert because all other features were just what we wanted. 5Easy Replacement, Well Built, and Works Great The old paper holders can't handle the "double roll" toilet paper that wasn't available 20 years ago. It became frustrating to pull broken pieces of paper from a newly installed roll. This product is an easy replacement for older recessed paper holders. It is well built and looks great. But more importantly, it holds any size of toilet paper I throw at it. 5"Jumbo" sized rolls do indeed fit **What it is and why it's good**1. This chrome holder is classy, well made, and is metal (some of these chrome holders out there are actually chrome-painted plastic, so beware). This one, however, is metal.2. It comes with the screws, and the spring-loaded bar that holds the role.3. "Jumbo" sized rolls do indeed fit without issue. I shop at Costco and they have ginormous roles. I've tried Kirkland brand, Charmin jumbo (my favorite), Cottonelle wide sheets, and Quilted Northern jumbo. They all fit with room to spare. In 2 of my pics, I have a brand-new Jumbo role of Charmin in the holder so you can see. There is plenty of room and the role spins freely/easily.**What it is not and some things to consider**It does not include the mechanism that goes behind the wall. You need to buy that separately. That wasn't an issue for me because I was replacing my old one, so the old recessed wall clamp was already there. I can't say it was super-easy to install, because it was so darn hard to line up the screws to the recessed wall clamp. But I did eventually get it to work. Took me double the time I expected. In the end though, it's really lovely and has held up well. It's been 6 months and counting.I always read reviews before purchasing, and find some quite helpful, so I hope you find this review helpful! 5It even fits those new huge rolls I am so happy to be rid of the sad chrome tp holders installed by my builder! I was concerned from the reviews and specs available that I might have to enlarge the existing holes in my cabinets, but luckily, all three of these JUST fit :D My only complaint is that when you take out a empty roll the center rod sleeves fully separate, so to get it back in you have to work against the very sturdy spring to realign them inside new roll where you can't see what you're doing. It's not a deal breaker, it's just an inconvenient design oversight. 4Looks cheap, questionable quality As others have mentioned, the TP holder is noticeably misaligned. The arms that hold the axle are obviously not square with the face of the holder. The finish is more shiny than any other brushed nickel hardware we have in our house. It noticeably doesn t match well with other brushed nickel hardware. Also, the bracket must be purchased separately, which makes the overall cost rather high.None of these issues are fatal. Still it s a lot of issues for such a simple item. Not recommended. 2Perfect replacement for builder's roll holder This was a 5-minute swap from the ugly, small, chrome builder's tp roll holder. That one didn't hold anything beyond a standard sized roll, so we would have to leave the large ones on the counter for a few days until they fit. This one holds the Charmin MEGA roll with zero trouble, and plenty of rolling movement. Installation was quick and painless. Thanks to another reviewer for pointing out the Franklin Brass 600R bracket to pair with this. Removing the old holder + bracket, and installing this was outrageously simple. I did have to make the 4 x 4.5" hole a bit bigger, but that took just seconds. I bought a second one, and wouldn't hesitate to buy more should the need arise! 5
