Great to keep home air clean These are my go to filter for my central air. I always keep at least 2 in reserve and replace them every 3 months. They keep the air in my home smelling clean and fresh and reduce the effects of allergies. Here's a tip, Always make sure that Amazon is the seller and not just the fulfiller, otherwise you have to worry about getting damaged, improperly stored or fake product. 5Fits my Trion Air Bear 2000 cabinet, even though not a perfect fit. I purchased this filter in a 4 pack to save some money, but discovered that it is not the exact perfect replacement for my Trion Air Bear 2000 filter cabinet. (The more proper Filtrete P/N is HDWR03-5IN-2 and is sold one at a time at a much higher price each here on Amazon) This Filtrete P/N is essentially the same specifications, actually marked MERV 12, and it fits my filter cabinet with only a very slight snugness closing the door panel. The side rails in the cabinet prevent any air bypassing the filter, even though it is not a perfect fit. I feel that this Filtrete filter is the best I can get for the money and am very happy with my purchase. 5I gave these 5 stars because it is a great filter. I ordered these 20x25x4 filters, but they didn't fit my furnace. I actually needed the 20x25x4 "SLIM FIT" ones which are just SLIGHTLY smaller in all dimensions. Why HVAC companies would make two different versions of a 20x25x4 filter is beyond me. 5MERV 12, incorrect dimensions This review is for the 20x20x4 2 pack.Perfect replacement for my HVAC unit. Our house's previous owners had the Filtrete Micro Allergen Defense (https://www.amazon.com/Filtrete-Allergen-Guaranteed-Captures-Particles/dp/B00L3SJLEO) version installed. I opted to spend the ~$10 for the two-pack to upgrade to this version with the hopes that it will help with my seasonal allergies that have started up recently (no word on that yet, just installed today).Note that the dimensions of the filter listed in the product detail (19 15/16 x 19 15/16 x 4 3/8) here on Amazon are incorrect. The size is listed on the filter box itself as 19 7/8 x 19 7/8 x 4 5/16. Also, this filter has a MERV rating of 12, also listed on the filter box, but not listed in the product detail. 5Amazon's Two Different Listed Actual Sizes Both Different than Actual Size Listed on the Filter In Amazon's listing at the first bullet point it shows "Actual Filter Size: 15 3/4 x 24 7/8 x 4 3/8 Inches." On the final bullet point it shows" Actual size(inches):15 7/8(length) x 24 5/8(width) x 4 3/8(depth)". However the product s packaging says its actual size is 15 7/8 x 24 9/16 x 4 5/16. Fortunately it fit just fine in my Honeywell system. Just be aware of the variance in listed actual dimensions and the actual actual dimensions. It's hard enough to pick the right filter when the are two sizes for the 16 x 25 x 4 filter (normal and slim fit) and Amazon just makes it harder by not providing correct or even consistent dimensions. Three star due to the added frustration. 3Good filters, but be careful to measure and don't assume a one year lifespan I have been using these filters for several years now. They are very good filters, but when you buy them you should keep two things in mind:1) The nominal dimensions are less than the actual dimensions. This may seem odd, but nearly all furnace filters are measured like this - so whether you buy from 3M or some other company, you need to measure and check first. It's like lumber dimensions.2) The lifespan is a year at most, and probably only if you live a climate where the HVAC doesn't get pushed hard, have no pets, don't cook and only have only 1 or two people. If you let this filter go too long with lots of people and cooking and pets and dust, the filter will get very clogged, which could harm your HVAC or at least make it less efficient. I change my filter about every three months (three people, two dogs, no smokers, hot summers and cold winters) 4Incorrect dimensions! This product is not as advertised. The product description says 19 1/2 tall and product specs say 19.9 . For those at Filtrete 19 1/2 is 19.5 not 19.9 . The product is slim and that is something I can live with however being so short to the point air and particles can (and will) just go over it is worthless. For others benefit this product is 19.5 tall.Also, slim is a modifier to describe thickness. Not overall dimensions, that would be compact .This is specifically for certain units that are not actually 20x25x4. Don t bother with the descriptions for this product because they are contradictory. 1Beware less than standard depth. Beware: although labeled 20x25x4, these are "slim fit" filters that are less deep than standard 20x25x4. The fine print says depth 3 and 3/4 in, whereas the fine print for standard filters says depth 4 and 5/16. The package says "Slim Fit" in red, but this is much less apparent in the online description. I've used Filtrete for years and recommend the filters -- but pay more attention than I did when ordering. The size difference is obvious with the filter in hand, so this mistake is impossible in a store. 2Ended up in a service call About 2 months after putting it in, my furnace stopped working. It would run for a few minutes then shut down. Repair guy came out and saw the filter and said that s probably the reason. He explained that 3M sells people on maximum filtration but that the filter causes too much airflow restriction and causes the temp sensor in the furnace to overheat, making the furnace shut down. Everything else checked out ok and it has worked fine since he replaced it so that appears to be the cause. He also mentioned that it s even more of a problem with AC because it can cause the coils to freeze and actually damage the unit.That being said, I was amazed at how dirty the filter was after only two months. My old filter didn t look that dirty after a year (because it doesn t filter as much). So this filter does do a very good job of filtering out dust and particles. If it works well for you, I say go for it, but check it regularly and think of that if you have any issues. Of note, I was still having issues after changing it out for a clean (Filtrete) filter, so it wasn t just the fact that the filter was dirty.Mine was also fit very tight and I actually had to bend the tabs on my ductwork out a little to get it into the slot. He explained that s because the 3M is a true 16x25x4, whereas my previous filter was actually 25.75x15.75x3.75, even though 16x25x4 was printed on it. So can t really blame 3M for that. Just be sure to actually measure your slot rather than just buying the same size that you re replacing. 3AC Filter These came slightly crushed which means air could pass around the edges as opposed to going thru the filter. These are also the correct size for my AC as advertised size and actual size are different. I was also looking for a higher Merv rated filter which these are. Go by Merv rating as opposed to 3M's madeup filter rating as they are the only ones who use the rating and won't give you any way to reference against another brand. 4
