    Start with a Quality Filter Before Worrying About MERV Ratings Received today - delivery was slow -the other filters that I purchased from other sellers (Filtrate and Nordic Pure) arrived last week. The box these came in was pathetic and thin - the result was that the filters had mushed up corners and 'V Pleats' that I had to manipulate back into a form that I felt comfortable enough with to place them in my HVAC Handler for 3-6 months. The filters themselves had white adhesive paper over all of their factor printed specs; why? Because upon looking at the print underneath - I viewed that they were actually from larger 'generic/bulk' filters that AirFilterBuy purchased - cut - and place back in the original low grade paper frames. Here is the deal - if you consider yourself a person seeking quality filters for your home - RUN - don't walk to another seller. 2Beware, size is not standard Doesn't fit, as the actual size is 19 3/4 x long rather than the standard 19 1/2. The filter is the wrong dimensions, because it is a cut down 14x20x2 filter (see the attached photos). A piece of white tape has been placed across the original label.Won't buy from these guys again. 1Filters not as advertised I purchased the 2 pack of the MERV 13 filters. The 2 pack that arrived did not resemble what I had ordered before. The 2 filters in the 2 pack I received this time did not match each other as well. One had many less pleats than the other one. Neither looked like the product as pictured on Amazon. There were no markings on the filters to indicate anything other than their size. Clearly, these filters were incorrectly packed and labeled. I returned them and will not buy online again. (you can see by the photo how it differs from the online advertised one - including different cardboard frame, many less pleats, etc.) 2If you have an Aprilaire Space Guard 2200, do not buy this I have an Aprilaire Space Guard 2200 and purchased this filter since it had good reviews, had a high MERV, and it was advertised to fit my air cleaner housing. It does not fit a 2200. There is a significant gap between the top of the Space Guard housing and the top of this filter. I thought this would be a fix to the pleated products since installing them is a pain, but I guess I will have to go back to those type if I want a correct fit. 2No gasket material These are a decent filter, however they do not have the gasket material on the top and bottom that I have gotten on lesser and higher priced filters. It seems to work but I know there is some blow by. If they add that its a five star highly recommended filter. 4Not what I expected Actual size is smaller than size stated in the description, the filters feel flimsy and aren't completely attached to the carboard frame. 1Best In Class Having tried all the other MERV 13 filters in this size, I find that this filter is the best of its type, notwithstanding the additional cost.To some extent, all of these large filters are similar, whatever the MERV rating: they are filter media pleated inside a chipboard frame with chipboard on both sides. It's been my experience that this product is better because (1) there are more pleats, meaning more filter media for air to pass through, and (2) the filter media is also reinforced with a kind of wire mesh. To me both of these are important because the greater number of pleats means more media to catch particles, and the reinforcement means that the media will hold its shape more effectively over time. Possibly this is the reason for the additional cost.As to shipping, it is true that the filters are shipped in a flimsy cardboard box, and the box and filters may arrive dinged or dented. I find that a few minutes of careful straightening are enough to return a dented filter to its proper shape.A note as to use: I use these filters in a heavily populated section of New Jersey, and, presumably due to the amount of pollutants I find these filters only last for 90 days. Nonetheless, I think it well worth the expense, as I only have one set of lungs. 4No more stuffy nose (allergic to cats) I'm allergic to cats but live with one (I know I know). As a result I use an air purifier and decided to try upgrading our AC filter. It's only been 4 days but I can already feel the difference the difference in our air. I still take an allergy pill every day but no longer have a stuffy nose by the middle of the day. I compared the price online to nearby brick and mortar stores (Walmart & Target) and it was almost the same. 5So-so... I would like to think, the maker de-spec'd the cardboard container that holds the filter media, to increase the quality of the filter itself, but by doing the first - makes me question the second.There were minor irregularities in the folds and the cardboard was bruised, not crushed, yet the shipping container was in perfect shape - leading me to think about the de-spec. I'll use them, but...Jim 3Great for the price WOW. Great filters from FilterBuy. Merv-13 Pleated AC Furnace Air Filters 2 Pack. We live in Montana and have to deal with smoke during the wildfire season. Usually we run our HVAC with Merv-11 filters which are great for general filtration and air flow. But when the smoke sometimes gets bad during the summer months, we switch out the 11 s for the 13 s. At the end of the fire season we switch back to the 11 s. We don t run the 13 s throughout the year because the pressure drop puts more load on our blower due to the higher filtration restriction but during the fire season they are great for the price. 5
