Customer Reviews

WORKS WELL, HOLDS A COMPLETE SETI bought this to hold and store a second set of open end box end wrenches. It holds from 5/16 to 1 1/4 inch wrenches and holds them securely. It is a little unwieldy when full but works all the same. I will note that SK tools are a little to wide and thick to fit it well but most other brands should fit perfectly, I have Craftsman in mine. My partial set of SK fit but not well and deformed the little pieces that hold them in. Could be a little heavier so it doesn t flex as much when full and carrying it. Holding 15 wrenches it is the biggest one I have found. I would highly recommend it for organizing and holding wrenches laying flat on wall mounted, for carrying them around I would say a roll would be better. Hope this helps you5Holds Wrenches Like A BossI ordered this because I had an old holder that held 11 Craftsman wrenches and I was wanting to expand the wrench collection, which included expanding the holder capacity as well. This organizer looked to fill this role by adding 4 more slots for my needs; total 15. Once the item arrived it was found to serve those need perfectly.Although I am not letting it affect the rating, nor am I entirely blaming the vendor, because the dimensions were indeed listed, please be aware that if you are buying this item to fit in a roll-around tool box, it "WILL NOT" fit in the upper cabinet. Most upper cabinets are 12" in depth, and this organizer is 13.5".It would have helped if this was stated a little more clearly on the description so customers would know that this item was going to need to be stored in their bottom cabinet in their toolbox, which in my case hurt badly. I am still trying to get re-organized.Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and delivery of this item.5Great wrench rack, works perfectWorks great, hold wrenches nice and tight, the clips are effective and can accommodate a variety of wrench thicknesses. Plastic seems strong. Tested with Craftsmen and Kobalt wrenches. Kobalt fits great, Craftsmen is a little tight. There are more than enough spaces. My wrench sets are 10 or 11 pieces and there are 15 spaces. So you can move up or down a couple of spaces to get a better fit. Moving up the rack each space is slightly larger than the last. Photo 2 shows the rack held upside down holding the wrenches without falling out.dimensions:length: 13-11/16 long with handle down, 12-3/16 handle folded upwidth: 7-7/16 max 2-1/4 minheight: 1-7/8mounting hole spacing: 4-15/16, handle opening 1-1/8 x 4Max wrench thickness: 3/8 wrench must be at least 7-3/8 between jaws to fit largest slotMinimum wrench thickness: 1/8 x 2-3/8 between jawsRack Material thickness 3/16, very flexible at room temperature. Feels like polyethyleneImprinted Ernst 15 Tool Gripper, Made in the USA5Herd up them wrenches I found that some of my smaller wrenches did not fit at the narrow end. There is a stubby wrench version to consider, but then you have multiple organizers fighting for position in the drawer. The cost is fair, so an extra holder is affordable. My wrenches, Craftsman, Snap-on and others, all slip in and out of the slots just fine. The problem is with angled wrenches as they do not all fit in together very well. These organizers are helpful for most of your wrenches, but are not a universal cure for wrench herding, hence four stars. 4Not good for normal wrench sets.I have three different brands of open end wrenches, two sets of seven and one set of ten, so I ordered (2) - 7 wrench holders and (1) - 10 wrench holder. For two of the sets I own, the model 5081 - 7 wrench holder does not hold anything but the small wrenches, very well. The wrenches need to be pretty thin for the 5081 holder. It holds my Craftsman wrenches until I get to the 5/8" and 3/4" wrenches, they are too thick. The Model 5049 holds most wrenches very well. I think I may return the two 5081 holders and get two more of the ten wrench holders.2Superior Wrench Organizer The design of these wrench organizers is far superior to most other types I have encountered for these reasons:1. The handle is sturdy enough to hold the fully loaded rack without problem when carrying.2. The handle can also be folded up to reduce the amount of space required when placed in a tool chest drawer.3. The wrench slots have simple, but effective clips that actually hold the wrenches in place.4. The graduated size of the wrench slots works very well for typical sized sets. Now, you might read through that list and think those seem like obvious features that every wrench organizer should have, and you'd be right, but sadly most fail in at least one if not most of these features. This model work great for the GearWrench 20-Piece Ratcheting Set when paired with the Ernst 5049 Black 10-Wrench Organizer. 5Hold the wrenches tight! These work very well and will hold the wrenches in your tool drawers even if you slam the drawer closed. The only negative for me was I have a very large metric set, and I loaded them into this starting from the largest to the smallest and by the time I got to the bottom slots the wrenches were a little too big. It accommodates them but it bends quite a bit.I highly recommend these. Keeps them in order so I don't have to hunt and peck in a disorganized mess! 5An excellent design. The wrenches get stored in a small ...An excellent design. The wrenches get stored in a small space yet are easy to get out. I also like the plastic they used, which is flexible almost like rubber. Yet wrenches slide in and out easily. It doesn't seem like this holder will scratch the chrome plating on my wrenches over time, yet they are stored securely enough that I don't think they will move, even while being transported in a bouncy trailer. I also like the handle design, which folds out of the way without taking any room in your tool drawer, but can still be used when you do want a handle. Some other systems that don't fold end up taking up a couple inches of drawer space just for the handle. Made in the USA too.5Great wrench holdersI'm a big fan of these. With so many options on the market I was hesitant to buy but I' glad I went with Ernst. The wrench organizers hold my snap on wrenches in place very securely and fit well in my tool box drawers. I can carry them easily and without worry that any of my wrenches will fall out. The handle folds underneath for compact storage and the different colors allow for easy identification of SAE and metric sets. The fact that these are made in USA is also a plus. I will be buying another set in the reverse configuration for the rest of my wrenches to nest in the drawers nicely.5Repeat purchase, love the material it is made out of. Don't hang it by the handle or it might break the handle.I have purchased this same organizer in the past. (5 total so far) I like them to match and I use black for metric and red for SAE.I like how these come in different configurations for more or less wrenches in a particular set. (not as much wasted space if you are using it on a smaller set for example and order a smaller organizer) Also, the material it is made out of seems ideal for a wrench organizer. It is a softer plastic that is pretty easily bent. When inserting or removing a wrench you really notice this. It is also keeps a pretty good grip on the wrenches. I have some that are more brittle and are harder to deal with. They expect a certain thickness in the wrench for example. These work with thin or thick wrenches in my experience.I would not recommend hanging it from the handle on this style. I did that and after about 6 months the handle broke. (picture attached) To hang it on a wall, use the screw holes on the back of the organizer. The other style that goes from small to big with the handle on the small size didn't break. (it is a shorter handle and can hang that way without breaking) I now keep them in a drawer in my toolbox.I bought 2 to begin with for my normal sized (Craftsman ratcheting) SAE and metric wrenches. Later I bought 2 again for SAE and metric stubby GearWrench wrenches and finally I bought this one that is the perfect size for a very thin set of Stanley metric wrenches I found on clearance at Menards. (The thin set is to work on brake caliper pin bolts to avoid having to use a small vicegrip)5Good wrench organizerI really like the neatness, visibility of the individual wrenches, and provision for organizing my combination wrenches in a more compact way versus a wrench roll up pouch which I used to have. I also purchased the black reverse organizer which is the perfect complement to the holder being reviewed to cover my metric wrenches. The only draw back for both is as the wrenches increase in size and thickness, they're squeezed too closely together and become a little more difficult to insert. It's not a deal breaker but Ernst should make the openings progressively larger for the larger sized wrenches, and increase the spacing. I should mention my wrenches are S-K and Craftsman. For thinner wrenches this shouldn't be an issue. I marked my overall review down 1 star for the design issue mentioned above.4Very nice, inexpensive wrench organizer.I purchased this to hold a set of Craftsman metric open/box wrenches, that came without a holder. The Ernst 5089 holds the entire set, plus has room for a couple more. The wrenches are held securely, but can be easily twisted out. The holes on the back are perfectly spaced for pegboard hooks, so mine is hanging on pegboard. The one disadvantage is that the wrenches face downward, making it difficult to see the size markings when hanging on the pegboard. Right now, I count down from the top ("19, 17, 16, 15 . .") but eventually I should have it memorized. Plus, half the time I don't know what size the nut is and just take the wrench set over to the work. For reference, I am not a professional, but just a guy who works on his bicycles and various household projects.P.S. I like the suggestion to get one color for metric, another for standard. And maybe a third color for Whitworth, in case you buy an old MG.5Superior Wrench OrganizersThe design of these wrench organizers is far superior to most other types I have encountered for these reasons:1.
