Almost perfect, but one small (but important) flaw denies this case a full 5 starsI bought this as a possible solution to the fact that the AppleTV 4k remote is way too thin to be used comfortably, not to mention it's slippery and easy to drop! Sometimes things shouldn't be made as small or thin as possible, but thanks to the elago case it adds much needed thickness to the Apple remote. The textured rubber surface gives me a solid grip; fitment is perfect and the material thickness is just right. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the raised edges on the sides of the touchpad make it nearly impossible for me to press the edge of the touchpad for FF/REW purposes. Instead of getting the usual skip forward response, I inevitably end up pausing video a lot because the touchpad is registering a center click instead of an edge click. If the side walls were just slightly lower than the rest of the case (very minimal, say -2mm) then it would have been perfect. Aside from that one flaw, the case is worth it.4Affects basic functioning of the apple tv remoteI purchased this as I needed something to protect my apple tv 4k remote from falls . The case has a good ergonomic design and makes it very easy to hold the remote. The lanyard ensures double protection. However, after I i put the remote into the case, it started to malfunction, in that it randomly noted clicks and did not move the icons on the apple tv properly as before (even though it was fully charged). Moreover, the remote has a touch screen which needs to be pressed at the edges to fast forward videos; this case seriously affects this functionality.1Yes, it is worth it, stop laughing.I got this because I always feel a little clumsy dealing with the new Apple remote. Sometimes I push the wrong end. Also, it's so smooth it's slippery. I have dropped it more times than I like. My family laughed at me when I put this on the remote and thought it was unnecessary. Well, who's laughing now? Me. My spouse sheepishly admitted it does make the remote easier to hold and use. And it may not be applicable to every household, but we have a metal box on a tabletop and a metal cocktail table in the family room and the magnets in this case allow the remote to stick to them. Kind of fun, and it doesn't get lost as easily. And now it's almost impossible for the remote to slip into the cracks of upholstered furniture. I did take the lariat off, that was too much even for me.5Works FineThis remote case works fine, but it isn't optimum for me.The case makes it more difficult to click the extreme right or left edges to jump forward or backward 10 seconds in the streaming video. It's already difficult enough to try to fast forward/backward accurately. The magnet feature has no benefit for me. I don't have any convenient metal surface upon which to store it. And the magnets need big bulges in the bottom of the case, and that makes it less comfortable to hold. The lanyard has no practical benefit for me, so I removed it. If you need a lanyard, it's a good one.The other thing I wanted a case for, is to make it instantly visually obvious which end is which. I picked the matte black case, and that was a mistake. You still can't easily see which end to hold, especially in low light.I think I'll try a different case, without magnets, and probably in red.4A Must-Have Apple TV Remote Protector I thought about leaving my Apple TV 4K remote alone without a case, then realized it was made of glass and would cost half a Benjamin to replace it if it cracked. Enter the elago R1 Intelli Case. This is a fitted remote sleeve made of black silicone. There are two thin magnets in the sleeve that help stick to metal surfaces. It's strong enough to stick, as long as you don't touch it or knock it off. It also comes with a wrist strap, which I decided not to add on. This strap is mainly for people that use the remote as a game controller.I bought this case mainly because it was the best design, without an obnoxious logo plastered on it.This case is well-fitted, comfortable to hold, and it protects my remote. Recommended. 5Love it!!! This is my first Apple TV case for my first Apple TV remote and I love it! I've had it for only two days but my first impression of this case so far is pretty good! There are a couple of things that I've notice that could be off putting for some, so I'll point those out. I purchased one white and one black and they both have a smell that I can't quite put my finger on but I think it's like propane??? I don't know. I think it's fading now, and like I said, it's only been two days, either that or I'm getting used to it, and I can only smell it if I put my nose to it so it really isn't a problem. The other thing I noticed, is that the IR range to my TV (I hope I'm explaining this correctly) has been diminished. Like I have to point the remote a little more directly toward the TV to adjust the volume, than I did before. It's a little annoying but it hasn't a big been a problem. I haven't, however, found any issues, of this sort, with controling the Apple TV. So those are the only issues I have come across.....nothing that would cause me to take away any stars because this case feels awesome and looks awesome! I don't know about protection but I'm not about to drop it on a hard floor on purpose but any case is better than nothing and it feels sturdy. Oh yeah, another thing I read in some other reviews about other cases was a problem about interference with the track pad and I'm happy to say that I haven't noticed any interference at all, that was something I was also very concerned about but everything works as it should. 5Great cover! Like the magnet too!I ve had the case for about a week now, so durability time will tell, but I like the look and feel of the case. It appears to safeguard the remote well. I really like the magnet on the back that allows me to keep the remote on the backside of the tv for storage...with the added benefit of keeping it out of the reach of the children. The magnet is strong enough to hold the remote without having an effect on the electronic devices (tv in this case). Unless something goes terribly wrong in the future, I would recommend this case to those who want to protect their remote while keeping as low a profile as you can. Great product!5BEST Apple TV Remote Case!I love most of Apple's products and I think I own at least one of every product they have. I bought the Apple TV in early 2018 and I love it, however, I hate the remote it comes with to the point where I've wanted to smash it against the wall because its either too sensitive or it slips out of my hand because I'm trying to not touch certain parts so it won't activate something I don't want it to do, or it falls behind the couch or in between the cushions. I had tried to buy other very expensive remotes to replace it but they were crap as well. I was seriously thinking about getting rid of the Apple TV and going back to Amazon TV. Apple, if you're looking at this...you need to thank this company! This wonderful, little case, saved me and I'm sure many others from getting rid of Apple TV. I really do love it but my lord, do I hate the freaking remote you designed!5Not ready for sale as they are being sold right now!I purchased three of these Intelli Cases. I bought two for my use, the black and the nightglow Blue, and the red case for my friend. All three cases add a level of security to the tiny Apple TV remote. I can find the remotes easier since they add heft and tectile touch. They also have the long wrist band built in.I like the Intelli holders or I would not have purchased three of them. But, there are some issues the manufacturer should address. Since I view these issues as major flaws I have to reduce my rating to two stars1) the magnets are so far from each other that neither one is strong enough to stick to anything. Had they placed one larger magnet in the middle of the case it could easily be a attached to my lamp, headboard or any other metal object.2) the glow in the dark feature does not work at all. I cannot see the Nightglow cover in the dark at all!3) the black case needs some other colors on it, like decals, shapes, lighting bolts. The black case, like the Apple remote it s holding, is invisible in the dark. I lose it all the time!4. the textile handle has already broken off of two of the units. This seems hard to believe that the material handle would fail in a short three week lifespan.Other than the above issues, these can be fixed with minimal effort and money by the manufacturer,I actually like the cases. However, I won t be purchasing any more of them until these issues are addressed.2A big improvement Apple has always been a force in product innovation, style and often performance. But even the most loyal user of their products can agree that some of their ideas work better in real life than others. My Apple TV is an important part of my home entertainment system, especially since I cut the cable. But from day one I ve believed the remote wins more on looks than on function. It s actually too small and slippery for my hands and oddly balanced to use without brushing the wrong button at the wrong time. And I never seem to have a place to put it when I m not actually using it.WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUEOf the several similar styles of cases for the Apple remote available this one is made with a couple of magnets that not only give it a little better feeling of balance but let me pop it on and off the metal leg of my chair-side end table where it is right within reach all the time.DESIGNIt really looks like something Apple would have designed themselves and made that way as well. The remote slips into the case and the biggest improvement is the large non-slip lower third that gives me a place to get a better grip on the remote firmly with my thumb so I can have more control over the sensitive trackpad at the top.FEATURESI m not big on lanyards, I prefer to set my remote down when I m not using it, but friends that use the remote for gaming say they really like it. And the lanyard that is provided with this case is more than substantialMy remote seems to hold a charge forever so I m not concerned about access to the charging port but nevertheless the large cutout makes it easy to access.VALUEThe price for the basic black case is reasonable but I think the premium is too much if you prefer one of the several other color options. Note that this will work with all Siri-enabled Apple remotes (the ones with the black top surface and silver metal back. The older style Apple remote without the trackpad is an entirely different style and will not fit.ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENTLet s be real, you can t expect perfection for the price but there are a couple of things they could have done better. One is that the fit is good but not perfect, the remote doesn t fit as snugly as it could. Another is the fact that they had a lot of space on the back of the case for the magnets but the ones they used are not as powerful as they could be. The remote in its case isn t heavy but still when I stuck it to a metal surface over time it tends to slide downward very slowly.Using a case or not is a personal choice for me - it is a big improvement over not having it. 4The case has magnets which aren't useful to me as there's nothing magnetic nearbyAs a case, it works well. It solves one of the main problems I have with the Apple TV remote (which I didn't really use until recently) which is that it's fragile, dark colored, and hard to orient. I have a black couch so if I'm trying to find it at night with the lights down, it's tough. The case has magnets which aren't useful to me as there's nothing magnetic nearby, but it fits snugly and makes it easier to hold and find the remote. That being said, the main reason I picked this particular model was because it's supposed to glow in the dark. I'm pretty sure you'd have to leave it on the surface of the sun for a few hours for that feature to work. I get tons of light in my apartment all day and it sits underneath a lamp when I'm not using it in the evening, but it never glows in any useful fashion once the lights go off. If I aim a flashlight directly at it for a while it will glow, sure. But that's not particularly helpful.4They do the job, but could use some improvement. This case works fairly well for our Apple TV remotes (we bought two). It isn't as stout as I was hoping it would be, and it's more slippery than I was expecting. The remote fits, but it doesn't seem to fit tight. The remote case is too heavy for the magnets to keep it on the television, too- although this might have more to do with my TV than with the remote case itself. It still does the job, but I might check out some other options next time. 4Makes remote much easier to hold The apple tv remote is pretty small and feels a little uncomfortable to hold, so I got this case and I'm really happy with it so far. It has just enough grip, but it does not feel sticky. It adds a little bit of size which I like. The only issue I have is that, the remote has a touch pad to navigate and you click it to select items on the screen, and since the touch pad goes all the way to the edge, when the case is on it rubs against the touch pad/clicker. So far I have not had the touch pad/clicker get stuck, but I wonder if it would be possible. Other than that though I'm happy with it. 5It does the jobI dropped my remote countless times. I definitely passed the limit of probability where it should have shattered. This sleeve has definitely extended the life of the remote from accidents.Get this one than the other ones. It's slim and the grip is great. It doesn't get dirty nor sticky, and I have kids < 7 years old who play with this.Worth it.Other plus features:* The magnets can be removed.* Even if they don't work for you, you could replace them for a stronger magnet* The magnet to the TV is really cliche, I tried it, but I only put my TV at risk of getting smudged with dirty hands. Plus it looks ugly with a TV remote block on the side. I am not dissatisfied for having to store it like a regular remote.* The control is lifted from the surface a bit from each end (like a bridge), so there is less surface area for it to get dirty if you place it somewhere filthy by mistake.* The grip is ergonomically squishy. Sometimes I just grab the remote to play with the sleeve... but don't do that. You'll end up changing channels, shows, and maybe turning off the TV. Just use it for what it's intended for.* I never played or used an app that required me to use the sides of the touch platform on the remote. So don't make it a deciding factor for choosing the right sleeve. This remote sleeve will do.5A good solution to the mediocre Apple TV Remote AppleTV may be a great product, but it's remote sucks. It's small, it's hard to hold and easy to lose. Even worse, the remote is almost impossible to use if you have a parent with even mild Parkinson's Disease. Their tremors do not interact well with a tiny touchscreen surface. As a caregiver you only had one choice: the relatively expensive Harmony Remote with real buttons to push. I saw a review of the elago case, and it was a no brainer for under 10 bucks. Sure enough it worked. My father was able to get a good grip on the made for a Hobbit sized AppleTV remote and with his other hand able to manage the touchscreen. I personally like the added heft and bought a second one for our home unit. 5A total winner - the Apple remote is now tamedThe unadorned Apple remote is a nightmare--too small, slippery, way to easy to grab carefully yet still be holding it upside-down or somehow push your finger along the touch pad inadvertently and screw up whatever it is you are watching or listening to. Some folks have fixed this by use of the iPhone or iPad app, which is fine, but I thought I would see if the Apple remote itself could be tamed, simply and cheaply.Googling things like "I hate the Apple remote" was hugely fruitful, albeit often producing expensive alternatives. This little silicone thing is about 10 bucks, holds the remote snugly while allowing access to every feature, completely changes the form factor into comfort and security, and it has a perfect nonslip feel and finish--it turns the stupid Apple remote into something worthy and (almost) flawlessly useful.I don't know what the little lanyard is for, but it's fun to play with. Go ahead and get it in the color of your choice (mine's a rich red, making it easy to find and cool-looking). It's five stars, definitely.5
