    This feels like plastic, but I thought maybe it's some new I would give zero stars if I could. This feels like plastic, but I thought maybe it's some new, high-tech aluminum and I'll just keep an eye on it. At first the ends popped up and then it just began to melt very quickly! Don't waste your money. It went straight into the garbage! 1Great but MEASURE YOUR STOVETOP!! We have an older gas stove, with smaller "eyes" than newer stoves--which is a big problem with this griddle. First, let me say that it's a terrific griddle--well-made, nonstick, cooks evenly. And the company was terrific, too--very responsive and worked hard to understand and help with our problem. Unfortunately, there was no easy answer.Here's the trouble. The edges of each side are raised, except in one corner, where there is a grease pocket. On stoves with big burners, or glass tops, the griddle rests on the long raised edges along the sides. On our smaller gas stove, it can rest only on the corners--and one of those is a pocket, the other 3 are raised, making it tippy. We could get it set properly, but any movement, such as flipping food, caused it to fall off its corners and rest on the reverse griddle surface, potentially scratching it. After a number of emails back and forth, we finally came up with a solution on our own that works for us: we bought a cheap, big jelly roll pan (cookie sheet with sides) and cut off one short end to make room for the griddle length. It'll burn out eventually but we don't use the griddle frequently, so this works great for us.Here are the pertinent measurements: the griddle is 19 1/2 x 10 5/8; the double stove eyes are 17 7/8 x 8 3/4; and the cookie sheet is 17 x 11 1/4. Except for the size problem, we highly recommend this griddle. It really is good and the company is, too! 5Pretty Great! I think the griddle is pretty good. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is there are a couple of things I dislike about it. The first, is it doesn t heat evenly, which makes sense given how the burners are set up, naturally two spots will be hotter than the middle. But if you can use it with that in mind, you won t burn stuff. The second thing I don t like, is that it slides around on top of my stove top easily. Again, if you know that, you can work around it. Regardless of that I totally love this. It s super easy to clean and store away when not in use, and makes cooking multiple things really easy without having to use two different pans. Even with the two negative things, I would still recommend this! 4Not suitable for glass-top stoves So sorry to note that this griddle failed on its first use. We bought it for our glass-top stove, which the documentation indicated it would be suitable for. Unfortunately, the griddle warped when it got hot, causing it not to lie flat on the stovetop.Delivery and return were prompt and civilized.As a note, we don't really like the glass-top stove just because of issues like this. But we're stuck with it for now, so we will keep searching for better solutions. 2It's not flat it's bowed The griddle is completely bowed in the center and everything runs to the corners. Not what I was expecting. Very unhappy 1<3 Lightweight, doesn't stick, fits the stove, and heats evenly! I have had several stove top griddle/grills and haven't been happy with them...until now!Experience with with other griddle/grills:First I had a NordicWare one that was supposed to be non-stick. It wasn't! I did love the grease reservoir and it fit my stovetop, but it just stuck waaaaay too much. Then I got a LodgeLogic Cast Iron one. It stuck, too (despite that they say it's pre-seasoned AND I also oiled it just in case.) It didn't fit well over my square gas burners (too small) plus it was extremely heavy and there was no grease reservoir. I tried to care for it as instructed but food just kept sticking to it! You definitely can't put cast iron in a dishwasher, you have to dry it right away or it will rust, and you're supposed to rub it with oil after each wash so it's really a pain in the butt to clean/maintain. Admittedly I didn't clean it properly EVERY time, but that was after months of doing it right and then I just finally gave up. Perhaps I simply don't have the patience to maintain cast iron. After 3 years of trying to make this pan work for me, and after last week when I lost half of my burgers because they were stuck to the pan, I threw the damn thing away and hopped online to find a different one. I saw the Ecolution and decided to take a chance.The Ecolution experience:When I first opened the package I was a bit dismayed at how lightweight it is. My immediate thought was "There's no way this thing's gonna distribute heat evenly" ... but it DID!!! At first I thought it wasn't going to fit on my GE square gas burners, but once I flipped in the other way, it was perfect, though if your burners are any larger than mine it might not. It would be wise to measure before purchasing. On the griddle I made turkey burgers (with no added oil!), grilled some bread (with a little butter), and fried some eggs (with a bit of butter.) Nothing stuck! I grilled the bread in the middle section, which is between the burners, and it grilled evenly! What a wonderful surprise. The next meal was a NY Strip Steak on the grill side. I did lightly oil the grill just in case (Do NOT use cooking spray. Just a little oil on a paper towel is good.) No sticking! Joy!!! Cleanup was a breeze since there was no sticking. You can also throw it in the dishwasher. The reservoir is a great feature. OH -- and I was actually using medium-high heat and experienced no warping at all as has been stated by other reviewers. Hoping this thing holds up and continues to perform as well as on these first two tests. Will update my review if it doesn't! 5Not Warp Resistant The metal gauge is too thin for the application. When heated to egg and pancake temperature the center bows up to make a convex form causing eggs and liquids to run to the sides away from center. This should have been corrected before marketing it. Minimum thickness for aluminum to retain shape when heated to cooking temperature is 1/4". The sharp 90 degree inside corners will prove to be hard to keep clean. It's too soon to tell how durable the griddle is. 2It's OK, but not great Living in an apartment, I don't have the luxury of cooking out, but if I want a juicy steak for dinner, it's either eat out (expensive) or go without. I got desperate and cooked the steaks in a pan, but you don't get the right flavor that way. This product seemed like a way out for me, so i bought it, primarily due to the non-stick aspect (as well as being dishwasher safe. In general, it's an ok product, but nothing extraordinary. I will say though that one big downside to this product is the shape: warped. You would think for a cast aluminum griddle, it would be flat, but it isn't. Couple that with placing it on your stove, it WILL slide around, and often. Grilling steaks, chicken or even burgers works, but be prepared for a massive stove cleanup afterwards (depending on fat content of the meat of course). As for cleanup of the griddle, the non-stick coating only works so well, and if you season your meat like I do, you will get "gunk" in between the grids and cleaning them out is a chore. Soaking the griddle, running hot water over it, won't help much. I bought some griddle scrapers to help pre-treat the griddle, but in the end, you have a chore ahead of you, and as for putting it in the dishwasher, you'd still need to get all the big stuff off beforehand. My recommendation is that if you really NEED something like this, buy it, but if you have any other alternatives, seek them out first. 3Large and non-stick Great non-stick griddle. I have used it only a single time so cannot comment on any longevity, but it offers a nice slick surface. The cooking surface already has a few marks on it (no actual scratches) which don't seem to affect anything yet, but gives me concern about how it will wear over time. Across two burners, I did find if the heat is not kept very even, the pan does warp somewhat. It did return to normal afterwards. As noted in other reviews, after just a single use, some of the paint on the backside chipped off (actually stuck to the stove). Fairly light weight. 4Pretty good except for one design flaw This is awesome for making breakfast on the weekends. I can fit everything without having to use several different pans. I just wish the handles extended up instead of out. The one handle runs into the back of the stove top, so I can't position it exactly over the back burner. I don't know about the durability really, since I haven't had it for very long yet. The handles do get hot, even though they are covered in silicone.Edit: reduced by one star because it has warped after several uses. 3
