Very Pleased I am very happy with the wireless pen mouse overall. It's not difficult to use, but it does take a lot of getting used to, and I don't know if I'll ever master the "right click," which is inconveniently located on the left side where I naturally place my thumb. Setup was very easy and quick....simply plugging a cordless drive into my computer and flipping a switch on the pen mouse. After only 3 days of use, it has already reduced my repetitive use pain tremendously, which is the reason I purchased it. Like other reviewers, I am switching back and forth now between this pen mouse and my regular mouse throughout my work day, depending on the task. I was worried about the varied reviews, but for my needs and my purpose of having to change something to alleviate pain, I am very pleased with this purchase. 4Worked once! Purchased this for school use, and it worked great the first time I presented with it. The second time I tried to use it, the red light would come on then go right back off. It won't work at all. :( While it worked, it was great considering the price. 1Cool idea, great for photoshop. I got this for use with photoshop and image editing. It works really well! You can adjust the DPI, it has a scroll wheel, and is pretty intuitive to use. It obviously takes practice, but makes touching up those tricky curve areas way easier. The little left click button was falling off upon arrival, so I had to super glue it on.BOTTOM LINE: It works well. It is responsive and makes photoshop easier. 4Very satisfied with purchase This mouse is much better than I expected. It is easy to use and though clicking without moving the mouse too much is fairly eaqsy to master once you get the hang of it. There are some tasks that are easier with this mouse, and there are other tasks that take more time for me than a normal mouse. I keep both connected throughout my day because I like to switch it up and give my hand a rest.A couple of notes:1. The mouse is pin-point accurate. It feels quick and responsive because it is like using a pen, so it is very intuitive to guid on the screen.2. The buttons are placed in comfy positions. I have large hands (XL - type gloves), and it feels very natural to hold. The basic size and shape is similar to that of a box-cutter.3. Set-up was truly plug-&-play. Sometimes when I set up a mouse, the system needs to think about it for a second or two (or a minute) before I can use it. This was immediate.Out of an 8 hour work day, I find I am using the mouse about 4-5 hours a day, with 3-4 hours on a regular style mouse. I spend a lot of time in email, Excel, PDF docs, and some browser usage and database administration. It is very good for quick, short bursts of activity moving about the screens (such as click for next record, click on a cell, hit ok to proceeed, etc.). For long, protracted moments of mouse-heavy use, I tend to go 50-50 on regular mouse and this one.This is a purchase I am proud of. 5Awesome pen! Be prepared to knock it over a few times. :-) I have replaced my regular mouse with this pen mouse and I love it. It takes some getting used to, though. For example, you can't knock over a regular mouse, but this thing... well, just get used to knocking it over all the time for the first week. The one thing that sucks, though, is the fact that the scroll wheel is not clickable. For programs like Photoshop and Gimp, this thing is amazing, especially considering how cheap it is. The pen does turn itself off after a while of inactivity. Until you come to expect this, you'll be wondering why the thing stops working sometimes. You just need to wake it up by clicking a button, something you'll quickly get used to doing. Just be prepared to be a little frustrated at first. I have had mine for a few weeks now and I totally prefer it over a regular mouse. Even playing video games is no more challenging than when using a regular mouse, which kind of surprised me, honestly. Anyway... Love the thing!Pros:- The base allows you to use the pen like a regular mouse when you don't need a "pen".- The pen functionality is wonderful. In the lowest resolution setting, you can easily draw things that are extremely difficult with a mouse.- It is ideal for whiteboard-type presentations, where you need to circle, annotate, etc.- Comfortable to hold as a pen or use in the base as a (really tall) mouse.Cons:- You will be chasing the thing all over and under your desk for the first week, each time you knock it over.- Scroll wheel is not clickable.- Right mouse button is up too high, but maybe if it was lower it would get clicked by accident? I don't know. Awkward to right-click.- Pen turns itself off after some amount of inactivity until you click a button on it. This takes getting used to. 5Good general idea, bad execution and flawed design This pen had one serious flaw for me, it uses red light LED and an extremely bright one. When you use a mouse you don't see the LED light at the bottom because the shell covers it, in case of a pen the LED is open and since you never press the tip flush to the surface, this light blinds you severely and it's really hard to work when it's shinning into your eyes all the time.This device can work on infra red light, so I had to desolder the original LED, buy an IR one and solder it in instead, so now it's invisible to the eyes. This pen should be made with infra red LED right from the start otherwise I find it unusable.Another problem with this pen is that you can not perform left click by pressing it to the surface, you have to press the button on the side of the pen. What happens when you want to do a double click is that the pen will move slightly sideways because of the pressure you apply and your double click will fail as the cursor moves between clicks. Learning how to do double clicks properly might take a couple of weeks unless you have very steady hands.The amount of energy consumed by the LED is enormous, before I put in an IR LED I could use this pen as a flash light to illuminate a wall across the room. I'm pretty sure the pen can work at much lower light output. Because of this a standard AAA battery will not last more than 2-3 days, so if you want to use the pen, make sure you have rechargeable AAAs and the charger for them.I still use this device from time to time but considering all the money and effort I spent on it I can not recommend it to a regular buyer until its design is significantly improved. 2This is my first mouse pen and I am pleased but at the same time unhappy with design This is my first mouse pen and I am pleased but at the same time unhappy with design.First the sensitivity of the movement when little click of the button will move the cursor over a few inches on the screen. Correctable by turning on "enhance pointer protection". Makes a world of difference.Second thing I hate is the USB receiver has no place to store on the pen so you have to carry it separately. //please correct me if I am wrongThe overall feel to the mouse is cheap plastic garbage that is going to break when you drop it. Upside it is probably another factor keeping the cost of this mouse down.The power switch is this tiny but really pointed type of switch. My biggest worry with it is that it will get caught in my bag and turn on.The last thing bad I am going to say is that you are not going to be an artist with this pen. I have had trouble trying to sign my name but even with the surface pro 4 stylus the signature looks pretty bad at least in my opinion.Overall I like it because it is much easier to carry around can fit in a pocket just fine.Has all major features a typical mouse will have. Left, right, scroll wheel and some button I have no idea what it does. Its made carrying a mouse a lot easier and using it get easier over time. I like this product and I am thinking of getting one for my work pc 4Left click very difficult This works as described but the way it is set up the left click is almost impossible to use. The DPI or CPI switch (it is noted in their documentation as both) does not have any thing to tell you what setting it is on. The drawings on the direction were so light and small I had to take a picture of it enlarge and darken it before I could read it. I do not recommend this to anyone. 1I Don't Understand Why These Are Not More Popular - Love It! I've been using this for just a little over a month now. This is the first time I've tried using a pen mouse, and I have to say I really love it. For me, it is really the best way to control the cursor. It definitely is more ergonomic than a standard mouse and i've noticed alot less wrist pain since I've started using it. Perhaps more importantly, the portability of this mouse is fantastic, I take this into meeting in my pocket and pull it out as needed. I use the mouse at work for probably 6-7 hours a day. At that level of use I got about 3 weeks out of the first AAA battery. I can't say enough good things about this device and highly recommend it.I will say that using this format of mouse is a little bit of its own skill and there is a little bit of a learning curve. In particular as other reviewers have mentioned, the right click button takes some time to get the right technique. Since the tip doesn't create resistance pressing sideways for the right click function will move the mouse. I have adapted by allowing my middle finger to rest lightly on the surface as I move the mouse, applying more pressure to the finger when I right or left click to create resistance to prevent the mouse from moving. Resting your fingers on the surface also helps with the other technique issue, which is maintaining a consistent angle in the hand. The responsiveness of the mouse is very consistent, but using it at significantly different angles will affect its sensitivity. Resting at least one finger on the surface helps to maintain a more consistent angel and allows you to use your fingers to give more precision when necessary. It might sound like a bit of a hassle, but it becomes second nature very quickly and I have found in less than a month, I have more speed and control than I did using a standard mouse. The best way to think about the technique is to approach the grip thinking of the device as a standard mouse that happens to be shaped like a pen rather than as a pen which happens to function as a mouse.The last learning curve issue deals with the fact that it is more cumbersome to put down and pick up the pen mouse, to get around this I actually continue to hold the pen mouse in my hand while typing, sort of tucking it under my hand with my thumb, never really moving my thumb out of position. Doing it this way allows me to actually switch between typing and mousing very quickly, at least as quickly as transitioning from mouse to keyboard, and possibly faster, since my mouse is always where my hand is rather than having to move my hand to where the mouse is. Like I said it only took about a week to pretty much nail this down, and its not so much a detractor as just a difference you should be aware of.Unfortunately, these havn't become very popular yet so it seems that there are no well know companies are designing and manufacturing these devices. As a result the design isn't quite as refined as it could be, although its still great. In general the materials have a cheap feel to them. I've been using this pretty heavily and havnt been afraid of knocking it around abit, and its held together great but the finish on this doesn't proclaim quality. Also, the available colors and trims available on these could use some work and contribute to the "cheap" look. Perhaps the biggest bummer is that there is no storage for the dongle inside the pen. In reality, I'm not moving between computers alot so this is no big deal but it would be a nice touch. One last thing with regard to the scroll wheel, the scroll wheel works perfectly. However this devices just uses standard drivers, and the calibration of the scroll wheel sensitivity was a little goofy. It was necessary for me to drastically alter the scroll wheel sensitivity in windows when I first set this up, but once its done, its set and forget.All and all a fantastic little gizmo. I noticed as I was getting ready to write this review that the company which makes these, which seems to have them marketed under a few brand names, seems to now have another updated model which includes a laser pointer, a capacitive touch stylus for your tablet/phone, and a compartment for storing the dongle. It does seem to be a few dollars more, but it might be worth it. I've ordered one and I'm excited to see if it works just as well! 5Great alternative to a mouse. I have been looking for an alternative to a mouse and thought of the Wacom Bamboo tablet at first and this product showed up as well. The one feature that caught my eye was that there was no tablet for the pen and that it actually used light, as does a mouse, to navigate the cursor. I haven't seen or heard of this product before and read up on user reviews and decided to purchase it because it was inexpensive and I was comfortable with the reviews even though some users were not entirely happy about it.I have had this now for a few weeks and I love it! Its handy, easy to navigate with because it feels natural, the battery life is seems to last since installing once (just be sure to switch it off), and it feels accurate. There are only two buttons, left and right click, and with some practice you'll be able to master the right click. I also like that I can lean back on my chair and use the arm rest as a mouse pad with ease, also with the scroll I can scroll down pages as I read holding the mouse pen. I use this primarily for navigating around the screen and clicking windows, links on a website, move objects in windows and pasting to other folders, but not for graphic design or any other graphic application. Unlike a mouse, you can remove your hand and type what you need to then quickly back to the mouse, but with the pen you have to set it down then pick it up and situate the cursor. For what its worth, its a great alternative for a two button mouse. 5
