Customer Reviews

must have for the dewalt planner These are a must have for the planner unless you are building it into a work bench set up. I did try it without first and it is not the same. They come with the bolts needed to fasten and is quick to do. They also flip up so that is nice if need to have more room to store around it. 5Function well, but installation instructions are a disaster. Thank goodness there is a user made youtube video , since the instruction sheet included with the product is disastrous. Other problem is folding the extension on the exhaust port (back) of the planer. It will not fold up but halfway, and needs to be secured with a bungee cord or by winding the power cord around it. 4Just Ok, not perfect Pros: extended the bed length so it s easier to avoid snipe.Cons:1. These plates are made out of soft steel. It can bend slightly in the middle even just out of the box. Make sure you check for the straightness with a straight edge.2. Mine didn t come precalibrated to level with the planer bed. It can be leveled by loosening the four screws in the side.3. The back place cannot be folded when the 4 hose adapter is installed. Seems to be a design flaw. 3Work great but it's extortion I installed these on my brand new 13 inch thickness planner with out doing any adjustments to them and I am getting 0 snipe. Although they work great, I don't think you should have to pay extra for an essential part of a tool. One of them won't fold completely up out of the way because of the way the planner is designed. 4Installation is pretty straight forward Installation is pretty straight forward. The tables surfaces are attached to the frame by two screws on each side, so you'll want a nice true straight-edge to align them up to your planer bed while you tighten down the adjustments. As someone else said, you can't fold up the outfeed table all the way if you have a dust collection hose attached. But as for function, I'm getting almost no detectable snipe now. Definitely a necessity for planing things you care about. 5Doesn't eliminate snipe, but mitigates it I bought these for two reasons. The first is I definitely needed a longer work surface so I wasn't chasing every piece of wood that I put through the planer. The other reason is I wanted to eliminate snip. The first task it does well, but it only lessons the snipe a little bit. That being said, if you run the wood in with a bit of an angle, it works better, and very little snipe. As for what others stated, they are correct when they say the back table does not stay folded up. The corners hit the base of the planer (bad design).Other than that, they are solid tables and easily installed. Definitely a must with this planer 4Beats me why Dewalt never added this simple attachment with the trays and had pre-drilled threaded holes for two mounting screws Problem with the outfeed table not folding up, solved simply by screwing a 35 x 60 x 125mm block of timber to the black metal frame under the outlet dust port. The front face is cut lengthwise at 77 degrees with the shortest side 20mm wide to allow the tray to fold up flush against it and avoid the power cable.Fit a 10mm rare earth magnet to the centre of the block and the outfeed tray is now held firmly up and out of position, but not touching the power cord.Beats me why Dewalt never added this simple attachment with the trays and had pre-drilled threaded holes for two mounting screws -- easy peasy 5I just installed them and they fit like a GLOVE I just installed them and they fit like a GLOVE (well, a well fit leather glove, or maybe just a custom nitrile glove)! very tight clean fit with little to no play. They fold up well, HOWEVER the table on the exhaust port side DOES NOT fold up square unless the top is up all the way. This is annoying, because for it to NOT fall down means you'll need to take it off to move it (which in Dewalts defense is VERY easy, press the two pins and bam!). I just moved it last night and while transporting it in my hands, a slight bump made it come crashing down against the stop pins. Many more of those and that tight fit will not be so tight anymore. I have not checked for level, but eyeballing it looks pretty darn close straight from the factory. I imagine leveling would be a pain though because each table has four separate screws to level off of. We'll find out shortly when I have time. Enjoy the product, and to reiterate what others have said, these ARE NOT really necessary, I only got them to add to my bells and whistles, now if only they made better longer lasting knives......... 5Better. So upon further examination OK, I've read the reviews here and several other sites as well, and just feel compelled to chime in. First off, using the 735 without these tables yielded snipe. Controllable by lifting up on each end of the board, but snipe none-the-less. With these tables, snipe is all but gone. The minimal snipe I've gotten with these tables installed measures less than 1 thou. I can live with that. Second, I've read that these tables do not fold up. That's hogwash. Let me explain. When I first installed them, the out feed only folded up about halfway.I installed these, uninstalled them, and reinstalled them a few times, and once during that process, I must have switched ends because I noticed the out feed table was now folding up to about 60 degrees. Better. So upon further examination, I noticed that the arm where it mounts, more specifically, the arm directly above the spring loaded pivot pin was hitting the casting of the planer. So out comes the file and within a few strokes to help further round off the stainless arm, no hitting, and the table folds all the way up. 2 Caveats, though.....you must remove the dust port or raise the planer high enough to clear it. And second, the power cord where it exits the housing gets in the way. Poor design. So, in essence, it folds up about 87 degrees, but wont stay there because of the cord. Maybe a bungee around the whole unit to secure? Third...and MOST important....make sure you try using these tables as supplied. You see, DeWalt has them adjusted. Everything I thought I knew about co-planar does not apply to these tables. I installed them and placed a accurate straightedge across the entire bed and noticed BOTH table were higher at the ends than the bed of the planer itself. After adjusting the tables so everything was totally flat. SNIPE!!!! Yikes. I then proceeded to adjust the ends so the ends were about a penny's width higher than the bed. Still snipe, but better. So 2 more adjustments to the tables (about a quarters width) and ZERO snipe. It appears DeWalt had them adjusted correctly from the beginning, as they were right back where they started. So like I said, try them as shipped to you FIRST! If you get snipe, you can most likely adjust it out. Worked for me. Love this planer and these tables. But they should have been included with the unit for the money DeWalt gets for the planer. As a side note, I installed the Shelix head and if it's possible for a person to love a machine....I do. Havent looked back yet. 5Easy install Like other reviewers have said, for the price of the 735, these should have been included. Aside from that, the install was pretty straight forward. I noticed a difference immediately in the amount of snipe being produced, as it is pretty much unnoticeable now. My only real complaint is that the rear table doesn't stay folded up since the pivot point is so close and the exhaust port is in the middle. If you crank the planer all the way up the table will fold in 4
