Customer Reviews

Made building a deck seem like fun instead of a chore! Let me start off by saying I am not handy. I have had a standard 19.2 drill purchased from a major retailer many years ago, which is quite heavy. It doubled as a screw gun for smaller jobs. Whenever needed to hang something on the wall, I always had problems balancing myself and making sure I didn't drop my drill. My friend had this exact DEWALT DCF815S2 impact driver, and showed it to me. Immediately upon holding it, I believed that because it was so light, there was no way it could have the power that my old drill does. Boy was I wrong! This amazingly powerful little tool has not only improved accuracy, but has made large jobs a breeze! I build a deck out back, and used this to screw the boards in with a square bit. In seconds boards were being driven into the support beams, with not one screw getting stuck! I could not believe how long the battery lasted, it was only towards the end of the job, did I need to switch to the spare battery. I recommend this to anyone that would like to make their home improvement job easier on themselves and to save them time! Here is what is included:- Impact Driver- Rechargeable battery cradle with power cord.- DEWALT branded Carry tote bag- Metal belt clip, which can be attached on either side of the tool.- (2) 12-Volt rechargeable batteries 5The best. The impact function is nothing short of outstanding Its what everyone else says it is! The best. The impact function is nothing short of outstanding! The torque is great. The charge lasts a long time. I also use this as a battery powered screw driver (one simply has to learn to account for the torque), it is not a long learning curve. I have had 3 different electric battery screw drivers over the years, no more..........its the impact driver from now on! A superior hand tool! 5Awesome power, great weight and balance Dewalt makes pretty good stuff. Overall I am happy with it. I had the small bosch driver that the battery slides up into the handle. I like the bosch pretty good but it pails in comparison to the dewalt. Not just more power but better balance and leverage. I also have a Festool CSX that I like for 90% of my driving needs until I need the impact action for tough driving or removal. I use this even on bolts as small as 3mm for stuborn R/C cars that are stuck. The impact action is great for removing suborn screws. The tool doesn't wear you out using it. Even small drills can make you tired from poor ergonomics. This comes closest to my festool. The belt clip could use some improvement. They tried but it actually kinds sucks. It's difficult to hook on a belt or pocket when your in a tight spot or on a ladder. Needs to be longer, slightly thinner and a larger opening to get it started to hook. Think I'll be modifying it a bit. 5The Bottom Line All I can say is if you want quality, reliability, sturdiness, I could keep on but I think you got my point! I'm an electrician that depends on my impact 95% of my site assignments. I have tried to go with a cheaper drill in the past & in this case you truly get what you pay for which is really not that much considering what you can get done that makes your pay check able to afford it! Bottom line industrial, commercial heck even around the house Black & Yellow is what spins in this guy's hands! Thank you Dewalt! 5Great product I learned to appreciate the size of this impact the other day while laying on my back, holding the impact driver over my head while I drilled and installed screws. The quick release made it easy to change from a drill chuck (optional) to a driver in one easy motion. The battery stays charged for a long time. The impact has plenty of power for its size and voltage. Please note that this is a impact driver and not a drill. If you want to drill with this you will need to order a chuck. There are several available for the 1/4 inch hex chuck. The work light is also a nice feature when working in low light and tight places. This is a quality product. 4Hobbyist dream My new FAVORITE TOOL ever. Female, and do lots of simple/routine construction projects. Regular drills are weighted improperly - they strain your muscles just to hold the drill in the right position. And when they encounter difficulty, your wrist can be badly sprained before you know it. This one feels well-balanced just holding in your hand. The first time I used this drill and it started "banging" I thought I was stripping the screw and needed to apply more force. WRONG. This wonderful tool knew it had hit a problem - it didn't twist my arm off when the going got tough, it started to "pound" the screw in and drive it in, too. I LOVE IT. Maybe a person doing more challenging projects would want something bigger than the 12V version, but I think for 98% of home uses, this size is PERFECT. And it uses only hex bits and drivers, with the simplest of load and unload. Hooray - no more leaving the drill bit behind in the hole because it loosened during drilling! 5Heavyweight Performance From a Small Drill - UPDATE 10/4/2016 still going strong After having a house fire in 01/2013, I had a lot of work to do to make repairs on the house and ended up contracting out some of the work. One of the contractors was the a/c company. The guy had this tiny drill and I actually made fun of it. I had never seen one of these before. I knew he had to drill through some studs and asked him if he needed to borrow my "real" drill...my craftsman 19.2 volt. He lol'ed and said "no thanks, this thing is a beast" and I watched as he started using it and my mouth dropped. He was right. This drill has become my go to drill for around the house. Unless I'm drilling holes in thick wood (I even use it for that sometimes), or something that requires a bit more finesse (the trigger on this is much more sensitive then a traditional cordless drill)...I'm using this instead of my craftsman. I actually sigh when I need to use the craftsman instead of this guy. Right after receiving my drill, I had an ENORMOUS wood swing/play set for my kids I had to put together. It had hundreds of torx/star bit head screws on it. This drill made it SOOOO much easier. The impact feature turns this thing from a lightweight, to a heavyweight. If I could give this thing more than 5 stars, I would. There is a bit of a learning curve when you begin using it. The bits tend to fall out unless you are careful with them. What I have found that worked is using one of the bit extension tubes (the kind with the sleeve that pulled over a screw) and the bits do not come out near as easily as they did before. That and getting used to the sensitive trigger is about it. Other than that, you will love it after the first use.UPDATE 10/4/2016 - This guy's still going strong. I have purchased a few various impact drill sets and I have actively used this drill instead of my Craftsman every chance I get. No complaints at all. 5Perfect small driver/drill Had a Dewalt 1/4 inch drill, burned out after 10 years. At that time I didnt know Dewalt would rebuild them. Threw it away. I was using my 12V hammer drill. Just to heavy for small jobs. Added this to my Christmass list. Wife purchased it at Home Depot.I reurned it to them when I found out how much she paid for it. I ordered it from amazon. Saved her $10.00.Have used it many times since. Perfect for the home owner and the semi professional. My contractor loves it as well. He used mine one day, went out and purchased one the next day. The battery lasts long, both in use and left sitting for weeks, it wont discharge. I have not noted any wobble in the chuck works great for me. 5Everything I hoped it would be I will admit there are better ones on the market but this one is perfect for me. I am not a mechanic just a homeowner that needs to do some repairs or projects once in a while. This has plenty of power for me, one with a larger capacity battery would have more but for the price it works perfect. I also already have the 12V drill so the same battery fits in this so now I have backup batteries so if one dies I still have one charged. 5Awesome product....nice for smaller hands This driver is Awesome! I love the small, lightweight size and it came with 2 batteries. I don't even use my larger driver anymore. I built a shed ramp with ease using this driver. I am a female with smaller hands and problems with my wrist. I didn't have any aches or problems using this driver. Love it! 5
