Customer Reviews

New ones have a different bulb. A bit more yellow..I now have 3 of these. But the last one was a bit of a yellow beam rather than a white one. I returned it,and they sent a replacement. That too was still a bit yellow, but I kept it. Further analogy would be the last light was more of a 2700K light, and the earlier ones are 3000K. I liked the whiter ones better. I called Dewalt, but they had no response for the change.. DeWalt sent me another, after I talked with them via phone. This one, also has a more of a yellow tint to it. They must have changed the bulbs, in the more recent production..4I use this almost everyday.Updated review this lights magnet is so awful frustrating it really makes no sense how they make a light with a magnet and the magnet doesn t hold it not even on solid steal. Ryobi 2500lumens 700 yard light was what I should have brought. Desalt isn t what it use to be it s there name there color yellow but definitely not made well I had two desalt screw guns die in less then a year.I never realized how important having a light this powerful is. My only complaint is the magnet is garbage it won t even hold the light on my vans metal ceiling. How s the rocket scientist at dewalt that puts a magnet On a tool that isn t strong enough to hold the tool and the battery. Makes no sense dewalt is for the birds don t believe the hype ryboi is better5I was getting angry....Having both 12 volt and 20 volt DeWalt tools, this was an easy add-on for around $30. I probably use it at least once a day for getting into dim areas in my workshop, and rely on it to always be ready. Well, this week the switch started to get "fussy", and seemed to need some jiggling everytime I went to turn it on. I begin to feel angry that this tool was on it's way to the trash bin so soon after purchasing!. So I searched the Amazon reviews to see if others had the same issue with the DeWalt flashlight, and there I realize (see) that I had this flashlight for 9 years! Nine years for a tool that I use almost everyday, and I rethink my opinion: definitely a 5 star buy!5Brightest light I have ever seen! 130 Lumens, what else cna I say. Light, compact, does what it is supposed to do. I currently had the dewalt 18v snake light. This thing blows it away. So much brighter and lightweight. I have 5 12v batteries so I figured , eh what the hay! I'll atleast try it. This far exceeds any of my quantifiable expectations. I have many flashlights for work, scorpion, streamlight and so on. This is on par with their brigthness if anyon esle knows what a streamlight can put out. I would order again, heck, I would order 4 mroe if the wife would let me. One complaint I have is the sturdiness of the swivel head. Not saying it will but seems and feels like I can snap it off very easily. Maybe, maybe not and we will see what time will tell but do not that let that hinder your purchase. Expect the worst and hope for the best and you will not be dissapointed. You can place the light in a y direction adn it will hold. Lights up a 12x16 bedroom entirely. 5Luv this unit, This unit is as bright or ... Luv this unit , This unit is as bright or brighter than other very expensive units and the 12 volt batteries last forever.I have it beside my bed (use magnet ) and this is a tactical beam that any intruder would be blinded by it for sure , of course I use it around the house for stuff all the time . I also have the 12volt screw gun that is sold for the same battery and it handy as well . 4Useful, bright, versatile and smallVery useful tool. With a 12v, 2.9Ah battery, it remains light and versatile around repair projects. The 130 lumens is plenty bright. Often more is not necessarily better because of reflections, especially off metal objects. DeWalt seems to design this with just the right amount. In comparison, the 20v version is much larger and heavier, too much for tool belts. A very welcome addition to my 12v collection of tools.5Not just for contractorsThis review is NOT by a contractor. If you need a contractor review, please skip this one. This review is from a homeowner who needs some basic cordless tools around the house for small projects.I ordered this along with other Dewalt 12V max cordless tools. The reviews for this flashlight sold me - thanks to everyone for taking the time to share their feedback! This is a must have accessory for the 12V max LiON system. It is for the 12V max system, not the standard 12V system. 12V max is Dewalt's 12V LiON (lithium ion) system. This flashlight is AWESOME! 12V battery pack really juices this flashlight for some impressive intensity. Flashlight is comparable in size to a flashlight powered by 3 or 4 AA batteries but the brightness is incredibly more for this flashlight (all my subjective opinions - no measurable comparisons to share). Flashlight will clearly light up objects at approx 75 feet (not sure how much further). I have this to use for assorted lighting needs. Primarily, it is attached to the side of my refrigerator (magnetic case) for general use and emergencies. It is easy to access but out of the way. Compact size (6" x 3" x 2.5") allows to be stored conveniently and easily carried. Pivoting head is convenient for adjusting aim when stationary. Light will light up a room with beam pointed at ceiling (not good enough to read by but good enough to see clearly from the reflected ceiling light). Light is easy to prop up with metal kickstand. Only downside is that beam is not adjustable. From 2 feet, beam has about a 2 foot diameter with a 1 inch bright center. From 15 feet, beam has about a 12 foot diameter with a 1 foot bright center.5Bright, convenient, a little pricey At $20 or even $25, this would be a great buy. But at $35+, it's a little pricey. The magnet works great. The stand is ok, it struggles a little on uneven ground (like in a crawlspace). You can also use the holes in the clip to grab a convenient nail to set it on. Small size allows it to fit in my bag w/ my other Dewalt tools.Too much spot, not enough flood on the light and I have some concerns about a plastic, rather than aluminum, ring around the lens of the light (that's a spot that gets a lot of accidental hits). It is a very bright light and the battery life is excellent.On/off button is accessible and you can operate it with gloves. It appears splash resistant. 3great light but expensive batteriesGreat light, especially if you need it in a place where you just need both hands doing something else. With the belt clip or magnets on the back, you can turn the head to look where you need it. No propping it up somewhere to constantly have it fall over crap.I deducted 1 star for the fact that you seem to be unable to find this with batteries as a set and for a light like this, 2 batteries and the light came to just over 100 bucks. Normally I wouldn't say much but that seems a little excessive for a light of the type, mainly because the batteries are so expensive. The DeWalt batteries do last a real long time and I cannot say that I dissatisfied with the quality and performance of the light at all.The price is almost a gotya.... the light is cheap to buy, maybe you will buy it before you realize how much the batteries are.4Great for long distance work. Otherwise the 12v MilwaukeeNice light but has quite a spot component to it. I also have the 12v Milwaukee LED light and two things surface. 1) the Milwaukee is much better as a work light since a spot light is more like a flashlight. And 2) the Dewalt has a much better form factor and features that really work. The magnet on the Milwaukee barely holds it still, and it's shape prevents it from pointing easily in many directions. In a nutshell, I'd say the dewalt is more of a every-day light especially when not doing tool work, and the Milwaukee is an excellent wide spectrum work light. If I was plumbing, doing electrical or digging around in a hole or chimney, I would use the Milwaukee hands down. If I want to know whats going bump in the night or what's crawling around the back yard, then definitely the Dewalt.Really, the Milwaukee produces a beautiful wide spot-free distribution of light. I just wish it was more like the operation of the dewalt. Oh well. Can't have everything.4Don't leave home w/o it!This light is the best tool I have in my truck. If you have a 20v Dewalt charger, the 12v battery will charge on it(battery would need to be purchased if all you have is 20v tools). The magnet will attach well to most normal metals, the LED is brighter than the 20v light, the head is directional and it is small. I leave it attached to my tool pouch always. Can not beat this light, period.5I've used this over and over for every automotive job imaginable and under terrible conditions. I don't have a garage If you need a bright and reliable worklight for all manner of mechanical work, then you can't go wrong with this one. This was given to me as a gift and I didn't have many expectations. I've used this over and over for every automotive job imaginable and under terrible conditions. I don't have a garage, so I work on cars & trucks outside. It has never failed me. The combination of a tilting/rotating head and strong magnetic base make it extremely flexible. It's small enough to fit in tight spaces, but throws a powerful light. It will also last for hours. I have a recharger and two battery packs. One is always plugged in. I rotate batteries and take the light with me every day -- no joke. Many times I've gone out to my car and grabbed the light to illuminate a mechanical job at work. It's been equally helpful lighting up the woodpile in the middle of January in sub-zero conditions. Attach one to the side of your toolbox, you won't be sorry. Best portable light I've every owned hands-down. 5Must-have tool if you already own Dewalt 12V Max batteriesI was very pleasantly surprised with this light. Yes it looks a little goofy. But with the swiveling and pivoting head, the magnets, the little kickstand AND the belt clip, you can set it up virtually anywhere you need. It's amazing how versatile it is.Very bright and runtime has been great on my older pre-XR 12V MAX batteries. I've dropped it several times, no damage. This is a must-have tool if you already own some Dewalt 12V MAX battery packs. It is seriously worth the $35. Just try it out.5Great for putting light where you need itReally handy light! I held off on buying this light for a while but I'm glad I finally did! It's kinda expensive if you don't already have batteries but if you do, I'd buy it. I was skeptical due to the 130 lumen output rating but it seems a lot brighter than that. The magnet, clip, and hanger features work well. I work on cars and using standard flashlights or work lights can get annoying trying to keep the light is where you need it.5
