Customer Reviews

They Look Great! They look nice at the end but took me awhile to install 2 of them. Not a solid one piece, made up of 3 parts plus the hardware. Once installed, I was real pleased. Goes perfect with matching brass hardware and faucet. 4Great value, for a decent product ... Simple classic squared-corners design with a nice updated oil-rubbed bronze finish. Great price without sacrificing look or quality. Are these the same as $40 bars you'd find at the big box stores? No. BUT, they are of a good quality, seem like they will hold up to normal wear, and didn't break the bank. That's a winner in my book. 5Decent but not for your main bathroomGreat add-on item. It was only $4.00 so I won t complain at all about it. BUT, beware that this is not a nice $15-30 towel holder, I would warn you not to buy unless you get it cheap as an add-on. I m only using it for a spare half bath, wouldn t suggest for your main bathroom5Nice, but it looks black. My gripe is that it looks more black than oil rubbed bronze.Installation was mostly easy. The flat head screws that were included were hassling me, so I used my own phillips head screws. Now that its up, it is sturdy and looks nice. Just doesn't match my other oil rubbed bronze fixtures. It was packed well and shipped out very quickly. 3Nice towel bar. This matched very closely with one needing to be replaced. It is a little darker than what might expect for ORB but works. The bar length however is actually about 30 1/8 inches. So if you are using old bracket holes (which should work if similar bar is being replaced) then you might have a slight issue. I simply cut the extra 1/8 inch off with a hacksaw in order for the brackets to position properly. Also, if you anticipate someone accidentally using this as a "grab" bar keep in mind it is hollow thin aluminum. Will bend easily and could break. To beef it up "just in case" buy a piece of 11/16 x 11/16 square moldiing from a place like Home Depot, cut to length and insert into bar. Works great.4Only reason I m rating it 4 stars instead of 5 ... Only reason I m rating it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was absolutely no instructions or manual that came with the product. I ve never put together a towel hanger such as this one so I was confused but figured it out thank to me boyfriend. It holds up really well and matches everything in my bathroom. 4Very Nice and SturdyI've had these (I bought two) for several months now and are extremely happy with them. They are very sturdy and have a little heaviness to them. Extremely easy to install. They're horizontal mount and fit the same mount as the ones I replaced so don't take the hardware off until you try the fit. The thing that took the longest was trying to screw in the little set screw. You'll need a small flathead for that one. I mounted my holder so the set screw didn't show underneath but you can place it so they screw in on the top. They're silver so will be noticeable. I got the oil rubbed bronze and they are almost black with a very slight bronze color around the square mounting brackets. I also bought matching towel bars and they all have the same bronze coloring around the same areas. Once installed they really class up a bathroom. So now I've got new toilet paper holders and towel bars then wanted matching switch plate and toggle plate covers to give everything a little more oomph Instead of buying new, I bought a can of Rustoleum oil rubbed bronze spray paint and for less than $4 (use Michael's 50% regularly priced item coupon) I painted the old switch and toggle plates and the crumby gold tone vanity light for both bathrooms saving probably about $75. Because all the screws for the plates were white I poked them through a piece of cardboard and painted those, too, so they blend right in.5UPDATED from 3 to 5 StarsThis replaced an old, round towel bar (chrome & brass). Didn't expect it to be top-of-the-line but it is a nice looking towel bar & is what I was looking for... A good looking, cost effective, brushed/satin nickel towel bar for our 2nd bathroom.Update 5/28/19: I used the anchors provided to make the existing hole larger so I could use a different anchor to secure the bracket flush to the wall. Did a search & found that they are called a "toggle bolt & wing nut"...it folds to go behind the wall & is pulled up flush to the back side of the wallboard with a screw - but - before doing this remember to add the bracket for the new towel bar on the screw in front of the piece that goes through the wall. Using this anchor sets the bracket flush to the wall & is more secure than a plastic anchor. It can also be tightened anytime necessary. When the 2 sides of the towel bar were secured on the bracket, they were flush to the wall AND I didn't have to trim any length off of the bar itself.Suggestion: If, when you place the anchors that come with this item, the face of the anchor isn't completely flush with the face of the wall...save yourself some time & frustration by NOT using the plastic anchors & finding the type I've described. Also, if you overtighten the provided plastic anchors, they will crack.Original Review 5/26/19: 3 things I don't like. I wanted to use the existing holes by replacing the old anchors with the anchors provided. The first thing I noticed is that the mounting bracket (for this towel bar) is a bit wider than it is high). My old bar was mounted on a bracket that is just the opposite & was mounted with 2 screws. Fortunately, when I used the existing top hole, the 2nd hole is hidden by the new side pieces of this towel bar. Problem 1 solved.Next - The side piece that holds the bar itself doesn't sit flush with the wall when mounted on the bracket. It leaves about a 1/16" gap. It doesn't matter if I mount it so the set screw is on the top or bottom. The mounting bracket sits flat against the anchor. If either the bracket were formed with a dimple for the face of the anchor to sit into - or - the side pieces were 1/16" deeper, it would be flush to the wall. Right now I have no idea how I'll solve this problem but since I don't have the original packaging, I can't return this item. The next problem I ran into I think is because of the old bar & how it was mounted - I will be trimming 1/16-1/8" off of the bar so it fits without pushing the side pieces on a very slight angle. Again, not a problem of the item itself.5Really Nice and ClassyI've had these (I bought two) for several months now and are extremely happy with them. They are very sturdy and have a little heaviness to them. Extremely easy to install. They're horizontal mount and fit the same mount as the ones I replaced so don't take the hardware off until you try the fit. The thing that took the longest was trying to screw in the little set screws. You'll need a small flathead for that one. I mounted my holder so the set screw didn't show underneath but you can place it so they screw in on the top. They're silver so will be noticeable. I got the oil rubbed bronze and they are almost black with a very slight bronze color around the square mounting brackets. I also bought matching toilet paper holders and they all have the same bronze coloring around the same areas. Once installed they really class up a bathroom. So now I've got new towel bars and toilet peper holders then wanted matching switch plate and toggle plate covers to give everything a little more oomph. Instead of buying new, I bought a can of Rustoleum oil rubbed bronze spray paint and for less than $4 (use Michael's 50% regularly priced item coupon) I painted the old switch and toggle plates and the crummy gold tone vanity light for both bathrooms saving probably about $75. Because all the screws for the plates were white I poked them through a piece of cardboard and painted those, too, so they blend right in.5Good quality for the price Good quality for the price. Only reason I give it 4 stars because its hardly oil rubbed bronze it's basically black. And the directions weren't good. But it seems sturdy and it looks great. 4It works in our bathroomWe just moved into a new apartment, and for some reason, the bathrooms don't have any hand towel holders. therefore we bought these cheap ones just to attach to our wall. They seem to match our existing style of towel rack, so we thought they'd be a good match. Turns out, they look great! They're simple and sturdy. It took about 5 minutes to attach both of them to each of our bathrooms. They look great. They hold the towels and now we have dry hands. There's not much I can really say. I'd recommend them if you're looking for a cheap option for a towel rack for your bathroom.5Nice towel bar, be sure to use anchors! Make sure you use wall anchors and a level when you install. I first installed without any anchors and after it fell out of wall I tried it again the right way with simple plastic wall anchors and it did the trick and isn t going anywhere now. Although the bar is very lightweight, it doesn t look cheap and serves its purpose very well. I got the matching hand towel ring also and they look good together! 5Like others have saidLike others have said, good quality for the price. The hardware is designed well for mounting. I had a little trouble getting it to lay evenly, though. The item is durable enough and the appearance is good. The ring feels a little hollow. Unless someone actually touches it, though, it's not noticeable. If you are looking for something substantial/weighty and "fancy", look elsewhere. Otherwise, I think it is a good buy.4Solid towel bar I've been buying a number of bathroom towel bars and accessories made by Design House. I can say that there is good color match between the items. So far I've purchased a 24" towel bar, toilet paper holder, towel ring, robe hook, and this 18" bar. The "rubbed bronze" color looks the same for all of them. This isn't always the case when you buy things like these. They also all use the same fastening system, which I've detailed in my reviews of the other items. To avoid repeating myself, I'll summarize by saying use your own wall anchors instead of the ones supplied. The longer bars like this one have a template on the back of the package that you can use to mark the center points of each bracket. This actually works out pretty well. If you tape a small spirit level to the cardboard, you can mark the holes and also know that they're level at the same time. The towel bar is pretty sturdy, it doesn't flex like a plastic bar. It will hold heavy wet towels no problem. Don't use it as a ladder rung and it should last a long time. 4Think outside the boxThis towel ring was the perfect touch to make a fake canopy over my bed. Since my ceiling is recessed and the way thefan is placed I could not do a "real" canopy.5Lightweight. Doesn't move easily.Ordered this because it is the same style as the 24" towel bar installed last week & want to keep the hand towel off the vanity but handy. It's a nice looking, cost effective, brushed/satin nickel towel ring for our 2nd bathroom. However it is extremely light & the ring doesn't swing freely (1) because it is so light & (2) there is a silicone type 'washer' on either side where the ring is attached. I didn't check to if the ring is actually metal or a plastic.Save yourself some time & frustration & DON'T use the hardware that comes with. The plastic anchors will crack if the screw is overtightened but, more important, they cause the piece not to sit flush to the wall but about 1/16" gap. After creating the anchor hole where needed, I used a "toggle bolt & wing nut"...it folds to go through the wall & is pulled up flush to the back side of the wallboard with the screw - but - before doing this remember to add the bracket for the new towel ring on the screw in front of the piece that goes through the wall. Using this anchor sets the bracket flush to the wall & is more secure than a plastic anchor. It can also be tightened anytime necessary. When the towel ring was secured on the bracket, it was flush to the wall. Don't like this or the towel bar enough to order for our master bath.3Know what you're gettingThe mount is metal, but the ring is plastic. You will need a precision flathead to install this. I'd also recommend your own screws and drywall inserts. I personally wouldn't hang anything heavier than a hand towel.I didn't expect the plastic bit, but it makes sense when all the others are 2x the cost. Not an issue for me; doubt anyone would notice and I got it for hand towels.I also had my own hardware. the stuff they give you is entirely too heavy duty for what the thing is capable of holding, and it's lightweight. Use smaller stuff. i also only used 1 screw not 2 since there was a center hole in addition to the 2 they want you to use. I don't expect it to spin and really ti should be plenty. Not everyone has a precision screwdriver around. this was unexpected. It's a little screw on the bottom to hold the mounting bracket. Just a heads up.It looks good, finished well and the plastic looks like bronze. the plastic does seem pretty strong (it didn't bend when I messed with it). The joints holding the plastic to the metal also seem deep enough to where they shouldn't come out during normal hand-drying use. I was apprehensive when I first opened it but I think I can get away with it. if not, heck it's $6.4
