Customer Reviews

Great but had a few cracks. I bought this awhile ago but I wanted to give time to use it. I used it to replace my old bathroom doorknob. It works great. I will say I heard some cracking when I was screwing it in and noticed some lines in the crystal. It has been able to withstand my husband s constant slamming and hard opening of the door. 4things seem fine. Until one morning a few weeks in- I ... I don't know why I purchased this. This was the doorknob I had originally, and it kept falling apart. For months I tried coming up with different solutions to keep it together, but every morning I open my bedroom door to a bang, and the sound of a knob rolling on the floor. So what did I do? I came to amazon to buy another. The same, identical door knob. And you know what happened?I install it, things seem fine. Until one morning a few weeks in- I open my door, and the familiar "Bang, Roll" rings out again. My landlord, my roommate, and myself have all tried and failed to make this thing work.Door knobs are not difficult mechanisms. What is happening here? 1Style and Function We have a ton of glass door knobs in our newly purchased old home and one of the door knobs literally fell off in my hand when I opened it one day. This sent half of the door knob crashing to the ground and what was definitely already not functional was now completely inoperable. I opted to replace the original doorknob with this replica. Most folks who visit my home cannot tell the difference and it helps me keep the original character of the house while also having a functional door! This is a great compromise of style and function. 5used these on newer, standard pre-drilled doors, you just need the latch and a rosette that fits I used these on newer doors, replacing knobs that were a couple years old.. I bought the recommended latch which fit in the predrilled hole just fine, then I slipped in this knob and it fit fine.. The only thing that doesn't fit is the 2-1/2 inch rosettes because they miss the wood but I am buying larger ones from a different company.. These are not the best quality, but they are so cheap compared to the $80+ ones pre-assembled that I can always buy another if anything happens, or use the vintage knobs I have from before I replaced all the doors in my home 10 years ago.. Overall, a good product if you can figure out how to work the spindle into the knob, the screw on the side of the knob allows it to go in deeper, don't force it, just get a screwdriver.. Also, this comes with 2 knobs, so buyers DON'T "beware" of that issue (lol) 4Perfect replacements for 1940s house broken glass door knobs I own a house built in the late 1940s and has glass door knobs throughout. I love them, but some have broken over time and some are just not looking that great, even after cleaning. Bought these to replace some of them and they look perfect. Glass is sturdy, not flimsy feeling - feels heavy like originals. Silver is nice because it reflects the bronze on the faceplates of the mortise locks. If you're looking for replacements for your old glass door knobs, these are a steal. Ignore the differing white balances in my photos. They look great! Will be buying more to replace other door knobs. 5Would definitely recommend the purchase Great quality. Amazing how simple things as door knobThey go on very easy and look way better then the brass knobs these replaced. My only complaint is the thread pattern or tip of the set screw must be cheap quality. They seem to all be good after being slightly worn in(10 weeks or so)but I did have to tighten the set screw down to full tight several times. I think the set screw tips all do it for some reason. Every single one of mine did for about 2-3 adjustments each. Not huge deal but call from my wife in the middle of a work day saying she can't get the door knob to open it just spins can be inconvenient.(I did not seat the set screw on the rounded edge. I made 100% sure each handle was lined up on the flat portion of the square rod to ensure shifting could not occur at the twist of the handle) 4Very pretty Fits door perfectly. 1st you have to remove the set screws on the side of the door knob. Then put the rod in place in the knob (it screws in). Place the set screw. Put it thru the door do the same to the other side and fini! The pictures show with and without a face plate. The door knob looks longer on one side because of this. 5Very pretty Whoever renovated my house last installed the cheapest kind of fake brass knobs on the doors. These were an instant improvement. Well, not so instant, because I neglected to heed the advice and order the plates and the workings along with them. When I went to take the old knob out, these didn't work with the previous guts, and the previous cheapo knobs also didn't have a plate. Those I had to order separately. But now that I've learned so much about the inner workings of a doorknob and my family lived through a week of having the locking mechanism taped closed so that the door wouldn't accidentally close, never to be opened again, I'm very happy. Even if these aren't glass on brass.Just a note: these do not have a locking mechanism on them, naturally, since they are glass knobs. I still love them, and have even installed them in the bathroom. Even with no locking mechanism. 5Beautiful, Affordable, Glam Crystal Knobs Beautiful, well-crafted knobs to help preserve the history of my home. Originals were damaged, so these fit in perfectly. Very affordable, too. 5definitely recommend for those of you with old houses needing to replace glass knobs I could not be happier with these great door knobs. They are very pretty, the metal bases are done nicely (I have both polished chrome and bronze finish), and the glass is nice and clear with no yellowing from adhesive. They look just as good as the damaged knobs I removed and the price is awesome. The bronze finish works well with the old aged brass rosettes on the door, you can only see that the finishes don't match if you're up close and scrutinizing the knobs. :) If I had all of the time in the world I'd buy the brass-base knobs, strip off the lacquer, and use an aging solution to darken the brass and try to get a better match. But the bronze finish is close enough. 5
