Customer Reviews

Works great. The arm is quite strong and flow is great. The people who's shower head this arm won't support must have something reallllly heavy attached because it supports the two shower heads noted below easily.Combining the four products linked below I spent just over $100 total and have a double shower head with one large rain-head and one small rain-head and a 3-way diverter allowing each head to be used independently (if one person is showering, switch from 8" rain head to little rain head for high pressure for getting shampoo out of hair) or simultaneously (if two people showering together). It works quite brilliantly. Please note, I am in apartment building with high water pressure. Including product in this review, here are the four parts I put together, which are all Amazon prime so I think okay to link:Large Rain Shower Head: Kingston Brass K136A1 Shower Head: http://amzn.to/1gMG6xlSmall Rain Shower Head - Waterpik JP-140 : http://amzn.to/1gMFTKHHigh flow arm coming off wall - Danze D481150 9-Inch Adjustable Shower Arm with High Flow: http://amzn.to/1gMG9Jy3-way diverter attached to Arm - Delta Faucet U4920-PK 3-Way Shower Arm Diverter: http://amzn.to/1gMGegc 5Cheap screw in arm broke, avoid. Should of listened to everyone else, put a 10-inch head on this arm and finally after getting shower completed, left to have dinner came back and head had fallen off. After inspecting the arm realized the screw that holds the arm in place snapped off. I was just happy that it didn't appear to have broke the head and especially happy it didn't break into pieces and break the glass shower walls. 1A skull fracture waiting to happen While this might work great for smaller shower heads, this extension arm was a nightmare experience when trying to use it with a 12-inch rainshower head. Despite claims from the manufacturer that it could easily support the weight, it was immediately obvious that something was amiss when the little joint between the fastening nut and the arm itself visibly bent while supporting the weight of the head -- nothing dramatic, but it was obviously under strain. That was worrisome enough but the real kicker is that whatever fastening mechanism is behind the tightening screw failed to support the weight on three different occasions on the very first day of use, the arm swinging freely downward until crashing into the wall without any warning. Considering that most of the shower heads you are going to use with these arms are pretty solid pieces, this means a pretty big risk of having a solid hunk of metal suddenly smashing down upon your head if it happens to give out during use.Luckily, all three failures I've experienced thus far have been while the shower was not in use but I figured I would post a warning all the same. If you value the integrity of your skull or the lives of your loved ones, don't use this arm with a shower head holding any weight behind it. Beyond that, it seems to give out pretty easily if touched at all (careful raising your arms during a shower!) -- I wouldn't use it with any head whatsoever unless it were also supported via ceiling cables or the like. 1Exactly what I was looking for This shower arm is exactly what I was looking for. It allows for the same high flow of water that the shower arm extending from the wall does and provides very good locking mechanisms for adjusting the height of the shower head. I use my extender to lower my shower head so I can reach the controls, but it can also be used to raise your shower head of the arm from the wall isn't high enough. Since I use it to lower my shower head, I cannot say for sure whether it stand up to extended use for raising the shower head, but the locking mechanisms do seem strong enough for that. There is no reduction in water flow, which was very important to me. Very happy with this purchase and definitely recommend it! 5Minor engineering flaw I was extremely careful not to overtighten this, but at an extremely low torque the wingnut (which appears to be stainless) stripped the male thread inside the joint (which appears to be an alloy of tin and hope). I've never seen a thread fail so spectacularly. Normally when I see one star reviews about parts breaking I assume mechanical incompetence on the part of the user, but from a materials science perspective I think the manufacturer is to blame here. (I will note, after taking it apart I could not see any plastic internal parts referred to in other reviews -- I wonder if the internal metal is so soft they just thought it was plastic)I gave it two stars for the quality of construction for the rest of the product. The brushed nickel finish was perfect. Judging by reviews your mileage may vary. 2Will not screw onto shower arm! Will not screw onto shower arm!I bought this product after installing new shower head and few months later an inline shower water filter. I had no problems installing the shower head and then few months later taking the shower head off and installing the inline shower water filter. When it came time to install the adjustable shower arm I could not get the nut of the adjustable shower arm onto the existing shower arm without it feeling like it was cross threading. I could screw the nut on a few turns by hand and then I would feeling strong resistance before I could not turn it anymore by hand. After several attempts I noticed that the threads on the existing shower arm were being pulled apart by the repeated attempts. That is when I finally concluded that the thread on the nut of this product was not correct for the existing shower arm and reinstalled my previous shower setup. Is there more than one standard for threading shower arms or is it product just defective? If there is one standard threading for shower arms, should I trust a company that can't get that right? I would answer !@#$ no! 1Great Product, but don't over tighten! We paired this adjustable shower arm with Moen 164745BN Shower Arm Flange, Brushed Nickel and Moen 116651BN 6-Inch Straight Shower Arm, Brushed Nickel. The colors match very well, and the adjustable arm made it easy to raise our shower head up a bit without having to change the plumbing. My only complaint would be that if you tighten the "wing nuts" that lock the adjustment too much, it leaks. Loosening the adjustment to the point that it almost felt like it was going to fall without support fixed the leak, and we haven't had to mess with it much. I did take a star off for this, since bumping it a little will cause it to fall. It would be nice to be able to tighten it a bit more without it leaking, but overall, I'm happy with the purchase. 4Don't waste your money. This item is poorly designed. One of the connections has two sets of threads set back-to-back, where tightening one loosens the other. It continued to leak regardless of our attempts (mine and professional plumber's) to get it right. There's a rubber o-ring inside one of the connections which disintegrates upon tightening, adding to the leakage problem. On top of all that, the hinges for the adjustable arm were never secure, causing the entire shower head to drop without warning. Do NOT purchase this item. This will NOT solve your problems - only add to them. 1Useful, but read my precaustions. Made in China, like way too many things here, where they are not very transparent about origin I guess it accomplishes what I wanted, which was to move the shower head closer to center and at a greater height in my walk-in shower. I am not tall (5'9") but hate to have to crouch down due to a too-low head. Just be careful to not over-tighten the adjustable joints or they will leak like crazy. I even took it apart and applied silicone grease to the O-rings, but it still squirted like a fountain at the joint. So, I tried slowly loosening and reached a point where the leak stopped. First time I have ever had a plumbing leak because the fitting was too tight. Made in China BTW . . . 3Nice product for small shower stall This was a great solution for adding the Kingston Brass K136A8 Shower Head, Satin Nickel to the pint-sized (2 x 2 1/2 foot) shower stall in our 1921 home without any complicated plumbing work. It allowed me to place the the large rain showerhead at exactly the height I wanted and directly in the middle of the stall, unlike the 12" arms that would have jutted out too much. I somewhat resent that this product cost over $40 instead of the $18, the price for 12" arms, but it seems to be the only product available in the size and finish I needed. Its knobs are not the most elegant thing in the world, but they are mostly hidden by the large shower head and the lovely finish. In any case, if you are so nitpicky as to care about the knobs, you are likely not even going to consider this product anyway and go the route of paying for new plumbing behind the wall instead. But I would recommend saving the money and buying this. 4
