Customer Reviews

Excellent product, for an excellent price!!! We have been using these filters for 10+ yrs. We have a well and change the filters out about 3 sometimes 4 times w/in a yr. The town we live in is very small so the local businesses charge u a burial fee just for ONE of these filters. Well i bought 3 of these filters PLUS FREE shipping. These filters do an incredible job with the sand sediment and if we use more water our pressure starts to decrease of course and we might have to change filter a little earlier than usual, no big deal because i wouldn't hesitate to purchase more thru amazon at the great price & awesome service. you can't beat this GREAT deal! FREE SHIPPING FREE SHIPPING.........it's sooooo worth it.......JUST BUY IT!!! or 2 or 3 even 4 cuz it's FREEEEEEE SHIIIIIIPPPPIIIIING 5Not a quality product If you have a lot of sediment in you water this filter will plug up and self destruct thought it was just a fluke but after 1 months it fails and I know right when it happens .we get a big dose of dirty water through the faucet. A have since switched to a spun poly sediment filter ,when it's plugged the pressure drops. 2Tried 3, GE was the best I bought the GE, DuPont and Culligan so I could compare them and decide on one to get all the time. The GE FXHSC is about twice the quality of the other two, they use about double the filter paper and the quality of construction is noticeably better. 3Good Value Glad I found these on Amazon subscription services. Since our well water is so rusty we need these every month and at half the cost of buying from the big box store it's a great deal. I wish they would last a little longer as ours clog up so fast and when they were whirlpool brand before cullingan took them over they seemed to last longer. Overall still good for heavy sediment removal. Please let me know if this review was helpful. 4It is a Culligan but not the R50-BBSA It is ... It is a Culligan but not the R50-BBSAIt is actually a R50-BBSB as another reviewer also stated. It will fit the same, but probably won't last as long as it us not as dense and doesn't have as much "pleated" surface as the R50-BBSA 1A decent pre-filter for sediment and silt reduction (50 micron) SUMMARY: In well water applications, this filter is an excellent choice for the first filter in a double-filter setup, but a second filter will improve your water quality. If you're on "city water", you won't need one.DETAILS: Ever since my well pump was replaced, I seem to get more sand and silt in my water supply. I've installed an inline two-filter setup to significantly reduce the amount of silt, and use the Culligan R50-BBSA Level 1 50 Micron Heavy Duty Sediment Replacement Cartridge as the first level filter, and follow it with a Pentek DGD-5005 Sediment Filter (10" x 4.5"), which is a 50 Micron prefilter with a 5 Micron core. Using the Culligan R50-BBSA in front saves money, as the Pentek DGD-5005 will last longer between changes. Both filters are polypropylene, which don't degrade in well water as the paper filters tend to do (such as others made by Culligan, GE and others, which I've tried in the past). Polyproylene is the only way to go.NOTE: I recently installed the Pentek filter to replace a GE unit as the follow on filter, and will provide a review of that at a later date. 4Very well made and effective I have a GE whole house filter system. I change the filter every three months. These filters are just like the ones I used to purchase from the home improvement store where I bought the original filter kit, except about $5 less. Its amazing how dirty the filter gets from our domestic water supply. Yuck. 5clean water, its all you need I got tired of replacing my faucet heads every few weeks, so I threw one of these in and it works great. I stock up when they are on sale, and when my pressure starts dropping, I replace them. I have not had to replace anything since. 5Be Advised - Product not as described- now from China Product received not as shown or described. Received a R50-BBSB made in China not the R50-BBSA made in USA as pictured and indicated. Amazon needs to either correct stock or update page. What I received appeared to be a low quality replica of the original. The pleats on the filter were VERY unevenly space -- some bunched up very tight and others spread way apart. Apparently put together in a hurry with no quality control.I had purchased this same item from Amazon about a year and half ago with no problem............ 1Great filter for highflow applications We have a 120' well. When the well was first put in we pulled up seashells that were about a foot deep the entire 150' foot of our driveway. After it settled in for a few months we started getting a black soot-like substance. We sent the water in to the Health department and it came back that the water was pure and safe to drink. The well digger said to just put a filter on and change it once a year. I change it every few months. This filter has great water flow and no noticeable pressure drop. That said, I am running an industrial water pump since I use it for 200 fruit trees as well although that part is not filtered. Even with a smaller pump I think there is enough surface area to keep the pressure up and as a backup I have a pressure controlled bypass on the big blue case so I am very satisfied. 5
