Customer Reviews

Decent product, only as effective as the low price would suggest. This is an inexpensive and somewhat effective product. For the price I did not expect it to be the most durable, and it's not. The connection points, including the threads, are made out of plastic which means when you are screwing it onto a metal shower head the threads will eventually get stripped. When installing make sure to use the included teflon plumber's tape at the joints as it will ensure a good seal and has some give so less likely you strip the threads on the initial install. Our water does seem to be more manageable, skin is not quite as dry and hair seems less damaged. Again I would not think this is catching all the chlorine or otherwise filtering with 100% efficiency but for the cost it's pretty good. I did not do water tests like some other reviewers. The filter did come in what looked to be a repackaged state, the packing tape to seal the pacakge makes me think this was opened, returned, and resold. Still installed easily and had all the parts.Replacements are easy to get AQUACREST Replacement for Culligan WHR-140, WSH-C125, HSH-C135, ISH-100 Shower Water Filter Units (Pack of 2) in multi-packs 4Product Doesn't Work Nor Does Amazon's Return Policy I'm so very disappointed n this product & with Amazon's return policy. I ordered this around June 1st & was received shortly thereafter. We've been in another state for the past 30 days. We just opened & tried to install but it's not working like it should. The filter will not stay up, it swings down under the shower faucet. Rendering it useless. Seems like it's missing a part that holds the filter in place. Now I paid for & am stuck with a useless product. Wish I could give this a zero. 1Works well, but catastrophically fails! The design element I like most is that it offsets the filter above where it attaches, so that the shower head is almost at the same level that it would have been without the filter. However, there is a design flaw in the lid for the filter. It is a thin plastic, made even thinner by the interior threads. I have purchased two of these, a white ISH-100 and a chrome plated ISH-200C. Both of them failed the same way, the cover cracking and spraying water all around the bathroom. I am not the only one experiencing this. Culligan does not sell a new cover, so even though I have spare filters, I will need to buy 2 new complete filter units. 2Does not remove 100% of chlorine I am a drinking water plant manager. I decided to install this unit in my shower to prevent my hair from drying out from the chlorine in the water. After installation, it seemed that my hair was less dry, but I wanted to test to see if all the chlorine was removed from the water. After testing the tap and the filtered water, I found that this filter only removed approximately 0.5 ppm free chlorine. The tap water was 1.19 ppm and the filtered water was 0.74 ppm free chlorine. Also, I tested the total hardness and alkalinity of the filtered water. Neither the total hardness or the alkalinity changed significantly after filtration. So my conclusion is that: the filter only removes a portion of chlorine and it does not remove any minerals. It seems that the 0.5 ppm removal of chlorine is enough to keep my hair from drying out, but I would not buy this product if you expect 100% removal of chlorine. 3I'm really disappointed with the design of this product Culligan ISH-100 Inline Shower Filter for Use with Existing Shower Heads, WhiteI'm really disappointed with the design of this product. I have used Culligan products for years and have never had a problem. This one has a design flaw. There is a metal collar that connects to the shower arm/pipe which, with plumbers tape on the threads of the pipe seals nicely. HOWEVER, where the collar fits into the shower filter there is a gap that leaks - a lot. There is no way to stop this leak. As I mentioned, it is a design flaw. So, if you don't mind a constant drip from there, I guess it might be something that works for you but not for me. I returned it. 1Built with faulty joint I ordered this with Sunday shipping and was excited to set it up today so my shower in the morning would be filtered. I followed all of the included instructions and the ONLY place that is leaking the the ONE joint I cannot adjust because it's built into the system. I wanted a system like this so I could change the filter without having to undo the whole shower. When I noticed that joint didn't tighten I was skeptical but now I'm just very angry and disappointed that I have to put everything back together and I don't have a filter and I've set it up and run water through it (hence knowing where it's leaking from) so i can't even return the darn thing. VERY VERY disappointed. Attached pic of faulty joint. Even reread instructions for advice on troubleshooting. Very upset. Buyer beware. 1Giant Leaking Issues I installed the Culligan ISH-100 Shower Filter and it leaked at the junction between filter and the connection to the shower head. Disaster of a product unless this particular one is defective. Also, the filter position limits the shower head tilt when the pipe coming out of the wall has a bend in it and most do, obviously.Very unsatisfied, just haven't repackaged it to return. Would not recommend, period. 1Great for 4 years, then it split open while in use making a big mess It worked well for four years but then the housing just split open while I was taking a shower. What a mess. 3Affordable Replacement Filters, Really Works Well. There are so many shower filters to choose from. I have tried a few over the years. The last filter I had was a Vitamin C filter that attached to the shower arm a bit like this one does. It was just that it ran out of Vit C rather quickly and was expensive to refill. This one has been going strong for over a month now and it still going strong. The instruction sheet says to remove the cartridge and flip it over if the flow of water begins to lessen. You will also get some more life out of the filter medium. I can definitely tell that it is reducing the chlorine. My hair and skin feel softer. We have really hard water where I live and this seems to help a little with that too. (if you really need to reduce your hard water you may want to check into an electronic water softener, I have had a clear wave brand one now going strong for 8 years, there is also an Eddy brand here on Amazon that looks good too. I haven't had any scale or lime deposits on the fixtures and tiles since) This in-line shower filter seems to make it even softer feeling.I chose this filter because the replacement filters are available in the Amazon Subscribe and Save store and that gets you anywhere from 5%-15% off your filter when you have it auto shipped. That really makes them much more affordable! 5but right now I am pleased. Worth the $$ First of all this product is $18 it is not going to get rid of 100% of the chorine, and it is going to have plastic parts! All that being said there is a noticeable difference even after just one use. My skin is not as dry and as itchy as it was before. Yes it did leak when I first installed it...took it down and in addition to the three layers of teflon tape I added a small bead of plumbers putty around the washer gasket and reassembled and re tightened everything. No leaks and everything stays in place. Very affordable and works quite well, and the filters last as long as the more expensive more highly rated brands. We'll see over time, but right now I am pleased. Worth the $$ 5
