Customer Reviews

Best deck tool ever! This is a great tool for deck removal. I have 500 square feet of deck to remove and got a quote for the demo and haul away and they wanted $3500.It took me 7 hours to remove the 340 square foot back deck and probably would have been faster if it wasn't a second store deck. .I initially started with a small crowbar and did very little in an hour but this tool is awesome and made it much faster and no need to fight with the boards. 5Very poorly made First time I used it and this happened after a few minutes. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Very poorly made. I was stunned to see this happen 1Demo king tool Exellent tool for demolition work. Although, the handle will bend when under very heavy force. 5Very Nice Greatly designed and excellent quality. I can see tool being very helpful with house or room demolition. The adjustable claws allow for the right size openings to grab studs, pipes, furniture, etc. The wider the jaw spread, the more leverage needed. If there's a weak area in the design of this tool, it's the handle length. It could stand to be a little longer to help with that extra leverage.Having said that, I can see the benefit of the tool NOT having a longer handle. The added length would create some limitations with accessing some tighter areas. If additional leverage is needed, a cheater pipe could easily be slid over the handle - just make sure you know the limits of the tool's strength vs breaking point to prevent injury.Love it! Great job Crescent! 5Great for about 6-9 months, then nail slot opens up. I have the 18 inch and two of the 30 inch versions of these pry bars and use them all of the time. They work great for removing trim, pulling nails, prying things apart in tight space, etc. The indexing head is a very useful feature. Even though the pivoting joint feels a little sloppy, and could probably benefit from a redesign with tighter tolerances and better machining, in practice it works fine and the locking pins haven't failed on any of three that I have. The real weak spot of the design is the nail pulling slot. After pulling a few hundred nails, the slot gets buggered up and it won't pull nails anymore (see picture). At that point, I have to carry around another tool or two to deal with nails (hammer and/or various cat's paws). Too bad - if the head of this thing were made out of better steel, or the nail slot were stronger, this would be my go-to tool. Instead, I've got three of them sitting in the corner now and not on my tool cart. 3WORKS GREAT! I had to replace all the deck boards on very large deck about 30 feet off the ground. (20 x 60). I saw this, bought it and it worked great. It was designed for removing boards from pallets but did the job for me. Only issues when using for deck boards... the handle needed to be about a foot longer. I had a piece of pipe so I was able to attach. And for deck boards the the 2 teeth/tines need to about an inch longer to accommodate 5 1/2 inch decking. I was planning on recycling the boards but lost about 1/3 as they split because of the short teeth. BUT... It saved so much time and I highly recommend. 4Excellent pry bar for removing trim. I owned the first generation of this bar and it was excellent for removing trim and baseboard. The problem was that the screws that held the handle to the head kept coming loose. The company replaced the bar free with their next generation design with no screws in head rotation mechanism. This has worked flawlessly and allows quick head rotation with no problems. The only downside is that the slot in the head is very wide and cannot pull finish nails but the wider slot allows getting under headed nails easier. 5Great tool, warrenty covers defects for 90 days Bought it in 2013 and it is a very useful tool. Haven't used it for about a year now and went to pry a something apart and the head won't stay locked. Contacted the manufacturer and they have a special number for Amazon. Called them and they said it is only covered against defects for the first 90 days.Guess for $23 I got my use out of it for the project I was doing 5 years ago. 4Makes demo go much faster that usual An invaluable tool for demo. I just used mine for the first time today and managed to demo about 400 sf of decking in under 45 minutes.I was a bit concerned that the indexing head would be a potential failure point, but after using the tool and playing around with the pivot and latching mechanism, it seems to be rock solid. 5Well with every dime. A great tool for deck work Awesome tool. Bought both this and a demotek tool. This Cresent bull bar is well made. The adjustable angle is wonderful when working on steps or pulling that awkward nail. The extra leverage over what you get on a typical crow or pry bar is amazing. Shoulders, and knees and back will thank you. They way it works onto of the joists let's you pull up a rotting board incrementally with out tearing it apart. In this regard it was far superior to the demodek. Another awesome feature is the double width between the forks. It allows you to place it around and behind a deck railing spindle to pull a board if need be. We were working on a somewhat determined deck and this tool shined. If the boards still have integrity along the center line the other style of deck demo tool might be faster. However the versatility of anglea of approach and the ability to lever a board incrementally to prevent busting it and leaving most of the nails behind would make it my first choice in deck demo tools. It would be incredibly useful for someone who recycles pallet wood for garden projects and such. 5
