NOT b-die! Changed (unlisted) version number but same model numberNOT Samsung b-die. This listing is for version 5.xx. Timings are 15-17-18-35, manufacturer is SK Hynix and these were binned as m-die. This is NOT 15-15-15-34, like the version 4.xx. And they deceptively listed Corsair under manufacturer code, I had to do a ridiculous amount of work to figure out why I couldn t get tighter timings to POST when the model number is listed under my mobo s manufacturer QVL list as Samsung b-die. Apparently they kept the same model number and CAS latency as the old version 4 (which was Samsung b-die with 15-15-15-34 timings) but they used different a different die entirely for the version 5.xx, Hynix. And they did this without changing the model number. This should be illegal, it s intentionally deceptive. I returned these DIMMs for a full refund and ordered Team Group s Dark Pro 3200mhz with 14-14-14-31 timings, which actually is Samsung b-die, and overclocks (or uses the same clock speed with much tighter timings) exponentially better.1Fantastic ProductCorsair Dominator RAM is the very best there is. I build my own machines and have tried nearly all of the top brands (names start with the letter "A", "K", "G", "P", and "C" (not Corsair). Compared to the top models in the other brands Dominator is more expensive per GB (which is why I only gave it 4 stars in the "Value for money" category). The Corsair Vengeance is one of my favorites as well and is quite a bit less pricey than the Dominator. But I'm a serious PC gamer, and I have to tell you the Dominator outperforms all of them and overclocks to the max. And the chrome heat spreaders not only allow for premium performance, but they also allow for maximum bling. The massive heatsinks might get in the way of more low-profile builds, but if you re running your RAM at 4,000MHz+ as I am, things can get pretty toasty.5Works but had issues with 1920X CPU, ended up getting different Corsair memoryHad issues getting the 1920X to recognize all 128GB from memory kits on the QVL, ended up returning Dominator Platinum CMD128GX4M8A2666C15 and got Vengeance LPX CMK128GX4M8A2400C14 (price went up about $100 but ended up with slower memory), that didn't fix the problem. Returning the 1920X for 1950X (priced ended up dropping about $200, net ~$100 "saved" but wasted over a month of time) so ended up with slower memory, but more cores and working system. The Dominator series passed (when any 4 of 8 installed, 64GB on the 1920X) the RowHammer test (potential issue with ALL DDR4 or DDR3 RAM) where as the Vengeance 128GB passed all test but has thrown a single RowHammer error once so far (possibly able to flip bits and cause corruption with malicious code -- however would expected a lot more errors meaning Vengeance is resistant but not 100% foolproof). Dominator should/could be better but never got it around to testing 1950X with Dominator (once I had a working system, parts went back).Swapped the Motherboard initially because it could of been bad board, in doing so found out that the original motherboard had issues with Active State Power Mangement (PCIe thing) which had to be disabled on one board. Kept the replacement board, replaced the CPU and the RAM (not necessary, but the Vengence was on Corsairs website as X399 compatible where Dominator memory was only on QVL list and most likely tested against 1950X only).3These Rams are excellent if you don't want to go RGB routeThese Rams are excellent if you don't want to go RGB route. They have white leds that will be constant on even in sleep mode. Unless you turn your computer fully off.If I were to do it again, Id probably get the RGB vengeance version because my computer build do have RGB lighting. If you want Light Bar that enhances your dominator ram, you gotta pay extra for that which I don't think its worth it! and you can only enhance the exisiting LEDs on the ram to white or blue.I am not going to pay more for that when you can buy it with RGB already.Overall great ram and I am going to keep it.5Huge, but look nice and do their job RAM is currently very expensive. Unfortunately the universe doesn't care and my 18 month old Crucial RAM started acting up. A such I found myself buying a new kit and I chose these. They look good and at 3200Mhz the get close to the max speed my X99 board can handle. I am sure its all in my head by it feels faster than my 2400Mhz kit it replaced. I popped in 2 of these 2x8gb kits for 32Gb quad channel and it worked with zero problems, zero configuration. Nice! I am happy with the kit and would buy again if I had to.If you've never used these before (like me) you'll be shocked by their height. I am using a Dark Rock Pro 3 which is absolutely massive. Since I am using a board with 8 slots, the 4 recommended RAM slots conveniently dodge my giant CPU cooler. I did have to readjust the fan, but it hasn't impacted cooling. All this is to say I cannot fill all 8 slots unless I switch to liquid cooling or an inadequate air solution. Unless RAM prices come down its highly unlikely I'll be doing that anyway. Just be sure you've got the clearance. 5Works Great in an Asus Prime B350 Plus Motherboard with Ryzen 5 1600I purchased this Memory to go with a Asus Prime B350 Plus / Ryzen 5 1600 computer build. I originally was going to go with 16 GB and had ordered the Corsair Vengeance RGB LED 16GB DDR4 3000 C15 Kit (P/N: CMR16GX4M2C3000C15) here on Amazon as it was on the Qualified Vendors list for the motherboard, but I could only get it to run at 2133, which was my bad as the QVL had a Version Number behind the P/N and I Assumed that I would get the most recent version through a bulk seller like Amazon and ended up getting an earlier version and it would not run at full speed (Version Numbers Matter! - Especially when dealing with Newer MB's / Processors that are not as Mature a product line)...Anyway I picked up the Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (2x16) Kit P/N: CMD32GX4M2B3000C15 (Hint for Amazon- Don't group reviews on Tech Stuff as they can mislead people! which is why I'm posting the specific P/N info!) which didn't need a specific version and it works great as advertised with no problems.Just FYI if your using an ASUS Prime B350 Plus Motherboard This Memory Kit will work at the Rated Speed, but it's a little confusing doing the setup. First Update your Bios (at the time of this post the current was v0806 and yes it needed updating out of the box, but the BIOS update utilitiy in the setup works great using both the download from Online or the Offline Option - Always did like AMI Bios!) and then set up the Memory using the "Ai Tweaker" in Advanced Mode. I've placed some Screenshots of the Bios Setup screens in this review that hopefully will be helpful to folks. Note that this memory won't run at 3000Mhz, but at 2933Mhz (which is stated in the Memory QVL).5You're buying looks not qualityI told myself, never again after having so many failed sticks of Corsair Ram in the past 10 years. Well, I again lied to myself, and figured all would be okay. Ordered 2 sets of this stuff, and while the RAM itself feels of excellent quality, it's not. 2 of the 4 sticks fail Windows Memory Diagnostics, MemTest86, and Prime95(each stick tested individually)and cause lockups, and BSOD's like they are going out of style. Tried in both the new Ryzen system the stuff went into, and also a known working Intel system, both exhibit the same behavior. Personally had more Corsair ram failure then I have out of all the system's I've built using Crucial, Mushkin, or Kingston combined. I know Corsair does make some seriously amazing products, but this is again.....my last go with Corsair RAM. Hopefully the replacement sticks will have zero issues, and they can live out there day's in this system. Dominator series RAM is supposed to be top notch Corsair, you truly have missed the mark. Been building systems a long time, and this will be the last time I spend money on your memory modules.2READ IF YOU ARE USING WITH AMD RYZENThese ram modules are excellent. They are very sturdy and compatible with alot of motherboards.If you are going to using them with on the X370 AMD platform (in my case a RYZEN 1800X), with the MSI X370 Titanium Platinum motherboard you are only going to get a maximum speed of 2400 MHZ. There is a promised bios update coming out that will increase memory speed and compatibility, but for now 2400 MHZ is your limit.UPDATE!As of September 2017 the current maximum speed achieved is now 2800 MHz.UPDATE!!As of January 2019 the maximum speed achieved is now 3200 MHz.5Lights are purdy I have always made fun of people with LEDs all over their computers. But I just built a new system for the first time in years, only to find few case options that were both large enough for the components I wanted and fully-enclosed. All of the cases seem to have a transparent side panel these days. And even the motherboard has LEDs all over it.So, rather than fight it, I decided to lean into it. I bought these RAM sticks over the non-LED versions, and well... I regret nothing. I have gotten hours of enjoyment changing the way the LEDs light up, and fine-tuning just exactly how I want my ridiculously lighted-up computer to look.Oh, and they also work great as RAM. Nice and fast, very cool-running, and stable as a rock.My one and only complaint is that the Windows software that controls the LEDs (iCue) interferes with the software that controls the other RGB lights on my motherboard. So if I want to change the way my Corsair's look, I have to install that software, change it, and then uninstall the software. Otherwise, my other lights go all screwy. But that could be blamed equally on AsRock, the manufacturer of the mobo. 5Not compatible with RyzenI should have read forums on Ryzen memory compatibility. These are made for Intel CPUs. I got ver.5 that has Hynix dies. My PC that has Ryzen 7 2700X CPU and Gigabyte X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming motherboard won't boot with XMP profile set. So if you have a Ryzen CPU, get 3200 CL14 or faster with Samsung B-die. Still, this RAM is better than CORSAIR DOMINATOR 2666 CL15 that was priced $15 higher for 32GB than this one (I got mine for $400 per 32GB set).I absolutely needed 64 GB, so I had to buy two 32-GB kits (I first bought one, and then ordered another after I made sure this RAM works with my system). Luckily, both kits work together at 2733 MHz @ 1.2v and at 2933 MHz @1.35v.This RAM is far from being stellar, but it works fine. My PassMark memory score with this one at 2933 MHz was 2450 with 58 ns latency, which is pretty good at this price.One star deducted because XMP profile does not work with my Gigabyte X470 Motherboard and Ryzen 7 2700X.4Rock SolidI've always used Corsair Ram and never had any issues. This set is no different. The price point at DDR4 3000 is excellent. A 4x16gb set is obviously overkill for mortals, but I only build a new machine once every 8 years or so. I also like the fact that it all comes as one packaged set. Each stick is heavy in a good way.RGB functionality works as advertised. I'm not sure I prefer it to the Vengeance RGB look, but I wanted the Dominator silicon lottery benefit for long-term stability.4 sticks booted up with a new install of W10 seamlessly (other components: 9900k, z390 Designare, Evo Pro 500gb in the M2 slot). W10 let me know to enable XMP, which was expected. 15 seconds later and we're running at 3000mhz without issue.My old machine with Corsair ram is still running strong after 8 years. If these ever fail, I'll update this review.5Great memoryJus tbe sure to check the memory type and speed you need. I use my PC mainly for gaming so I got the 64 GB (16X4). Works fantastically, but I really could have gotten away with 32 GB easily. Memory use never goes past 10 GB with any game I play - All Battlefield series, call of duty, Fortnite, etc. It is fast and I could overclock it by 15% easily and it is stable.5Functions and looks slick... what more could you want? Seems to work fine at advertised speeds. I mean, it's RAM... hard to write much here unless it craps out (it hasn't).PROS- sharp looks- LED lighting (who knew?)- no issues installing, setting speeds, etcCONS- if you're gonna include LED lighting, make it slicker (they just seem to light the inside of the diagonal corners with a white light)- none really 5
