Customer Reviews

Easy fix for El Capitan problems I installed OS El Capitan on my 5 year old MacBook Pro and then got the dreaded spinning rainbow. Every app I opened took FOREVER. So I cleaned up the computer, got things off the desktop, etc., etc. Tried 10 things then read about installing more memory and thought it was worth a try rather than buying a new computer. I looked up how to upgrade up to 8 GB on the apple website. I have never been inside a computer before so I gave myself an hour to fix it, but it took me less than 5 minutes to upgrade. The directions are OK, but understand that the two cards sit right above one another and need to both be removed at the same time. And now everything opens immediately, switches between apps immediately. This was a very inexpensive and easy way to fix a very aggravating problem. 5Made a huge difference! I purchased this to upgrade the ram on my early 2011 macbook pro. I wanted to download the latest Adobe Creative Suite CC and needed to update the OS to do so. I wanted to make sure the new OS would run on my computer so decided to upgrade the ram first. With the new ram, new OS, and new creative suite, it's like I have a brand new computer! The speed is much improved and I can get my work done more efficiently. A great product! 5it is working like brand new After 4 years of 2x2GB Stock Ram, it has significantly slowed down. After installing this new 2x4GB Ram, it is working like brand new. On how to install it, I youtubed it and found at that at your home page you can click the little apple > Click about this mac > Choose memory. It should show you what you have in the provided slots. And towards the bottom right, if applicable, it would show "Memory Upgrade Instructions" and it's is simple after that. I definitely recommend this item to anyone wanting their mac to go back to its prime in speed. 5My computer is like new again! I was completely out of space on my 2011 Macbook Pro. I did some research online and found that you can increase the memory (RAM) of the computer by ordering new chips to be put in with higher GB space. After looking online at different brands and reviews, Corsair seemed the best to me when comparing it with others. This item shipped out the next day and arrived fairly quickly. I was able to find a link on Apple's website that demonstrated how to do the upgrade step by step. It took me no longer than five minutes to switch out the old memory for the new one. It has been a few hours that I'm using my computer with the memory and I have noticed that not only do my applications open quicker, overall my computer is also working faster and no longer lagging. One thing I was uncertain of, but took the risk regardless, was if my documents/files would be deleted once I switched out the memory. Thankfully, changing the RAM does not affect any of the documents you have in your computer. Everything was there after I completed the switch! This was a great price. Saved me from having to buy a new computer, yet it still works like its brand new!The picture is to show you what the packaging is like, I taped my old memory chips on to the back and the packaging got a little ruined. It was brand new and in perfect condition when it arrived, the picture is after I used it!- If my review was helpful, please let me know by clicking "yes." 58GB MacMemory by Corsair work great! I upgraded my MacBook Pro 2011 from 4GB ... 8GB MacMemory by Corsair work great! I upgraded my MacBook Pro 2011 from 4GB to 8GB. You definitely see the speed difference. Applications launch much "zippier" than before. My MacBook rebooted with no problems after the install. I have upgraded many "older" Macs and MacBooks using these RAM chips and they have all worked flawlessly. Again, the speed gains will be noticeable, however, I would also consider upgrading any older Mac with an SSD drive if you're not ready to buy a new computer. It'll be like getting a new Mac! 5easy. No tech experience necessary Installed in the MacBook Pro, simple, easy. No tech experience necessary. Simply unscrew the back of the laptop paying attention to where the longer screws are located (there are three of them). The memory slots are easily seen and accessible. Easy to remove old memory and replace with new memory. The memory board is exactly same shape and looks similar to old memory board. It took me 10 min to do the job the first time and then 5 min the second time (replaced memory in my wife's laptop because she saw how much faster mine was). Also, if you have an optical internal storage drive as our laptops did, consider replacing with SSD that you can find on sale (1 TB for about $250-$300). You will be amazed at how much faster you laptop will be. So for less than $400 you can have a blazing laptop and NOT spend two grand for a new one. 5Just... WOW. Fantastic! I wasn't aware of how much it would actually improve the performance of my MacBook Pro 15" (Early 2011) until I installed them. My jaw dropped when I opened my heavier programs and it blew through them with ease (at the same time too). It works perfectly so far, giving me no problems. Photoshop use to take a good minute to boot up (along with Chrome and Firefox) but now it takes a matter of seconds (less than ten). I'm really flabbergasted, honestly. Hell, even booting up the computer took a good while, but those dog days are over, thankfully. I would definitely recommend upgrading with this product. It pretty much made my computer awesome. 5Scary install made me wet my pants These modules were stubborn during the install process. After I installed them the first time, I turned on my 13" Macbook Pro (Early 2011), and my computer started emitting a warning sound three continuous beeps over and over again until I held down the power button and shut down the system.I took apart my laptop, took out the RAM sticks and cleaned everything, removing any and all dust in and around the internal components of my computer. I reinstalled the RAM, put everything back together and turned on the system only to hear the beeping once again. At this point, my anxiety has risen tremendously because I thought I may have fried something. I did some web searching and found my problem is quite common with these Corsair modules.I decided to give it a third try. Only this time, when I reinstalled them, I very patiently seated the RAM with about three times the pressure as I had before, making sure I was applying equal pressure along the entire module. Once both were firmly in place, I gently pressed down on the memory banks and put the aluminum cover back on. I tightened the screws a little tighter while applying slight pressure on the aluminum cover (hoping all the little circuit contacts would be nice and snug. That finally did the trick, but I definitely would not want to do it over again. In the forums I searched where others had the same issue, someone advised to go with either Crucial or Kingston sticks next time. Apparently those are the best modules for MacBooks. As for the speed they're providing, the only thing I've noticed is that Mail loads faster. Perhaps when I play around with it a little more I'll notice some other speed improvements. 3Zippidy-doo-da ... Zippidy-doo-da ... has transformed my early-2011 MacBookPro laptop into a speedster. I had been running with 4 gig memory (2x2) from the outset, and today just upgraded to 8 gig (2x4) with these Corsair chips.Easy as pie to swap the old ones with the new ones. Took me less than 10 minutes. Watch a Youtube video or two just to make sure you follow the simple steps.Had I known this old Mac laptop could run so fast, I wouldn't have waited 7 years to get around to this simple upgrade. Well worth the $$$. Over the years, my old faithful laptop seemed to get getting slower and slower, spending far too much time showing me that blasted spinning beachball. As of now I no longer feel the need to consider getting a new one, since this old one feels like new. Running High Sierra 10.13.3, multiple open high demand apps at once, internet ... frankly, I didn't know our home wifi was actually able to be this fast and responsive. Who knew?If you've got a similar kind of situation on your hands, I can readily recommend this as a solution. These Corsair chips were sealed/packaged in high quality blister card and were clearly brand new. 5Fantastic product, used in our 2010 iMac! FANTASTIC PRODUCT! I ordered two sets of these for my dad's 2010 iMac and they fit and work perfectly. Don't buy anything that's not Apple Certified, I made that mistake twice before finding these. Cheaper brands end up arriving dead on arrival, cost you return shipping, and too much aggravation. As it has been for the past 10+ years, Corsair continues to make phenomenal RAM, and we couldn't be happier with this purchase. It came sealed in a perfect container, keeping it extra safe, and was extremely easy to install. I highly recommend getting this. 5
