Customer Reviews

I highly recommend this product I tried to clone a 'HD to SSD' before, spent lots of money and time but it didn't work.I saw this one on amazon, I thought and thought "What the heck, In for a Penny, in for a Pound "I ordered it. Got it within a few days, next I went to the computer (running Win 7 pro) entered the cd into the drive, connected the 'ssd' to the cable that came with the kit, hooked that up to a 'USB-3' outlet.15 minutes later it was finished, and it was done correctly.I highly recommend this product. If I could give it '10' stars I would. 5This is the clone you're looking for. I'm a PC guy and I used the earlier USB 2.0 version of this product to clone and replace a laptop's HD with a Crucial SSD. When it came time to replace my desktop's HD with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD, I bought this Corsair USB 3.0 cloning software. Good thing--I didn't have much luck with the Samsung cloning software, but this Corsair kit was dead easy. All you do is put in the disk (or download the software), attach the SSD to a 3.0 or 2.0 USB port with the included cord, and do a couple of clicks. One hour later, swap out the HD with the SSD and you are good to go. Everything was there and operated perfectly: Windows, hidden files, full-on Photoshop CS6, Photo Mechanic, etc. And, man--that SSD rocks! This might also be a simple solution for truly bulletproof backups. I put my old HD in a safe in case anything horrible ever happens to my computer. This is a great five star product! 5Simplified the cloning process Used this to clone a 300GB HDD onto a 900GB SSD to gain more space and improve performance. Cloning software worked flawlessly on Windows 10 NTFS HDD. The user interface runs a bit slow, so give it a lot of time to update the screen before clicking buttons to be sure it is done. However the clone process ran relatively quickly. Just over 3 hours to clone 300GB of data (drive was nearly full). I see that others have indicated that similar software can be downloaded for free, but then you need to burn to a bootable CD, and buy the right cable. The convenience was worth the price to me. And the performance improvement of the SSD over the HHD is awesome! Wish I'd done this a few years ago! 5Excellent item This cable makes cloning a drive easy as pie. If you don't know, it has connectors for data and power. You simply plug it up to the SSD and plug the other end to a USB port. The software that comes with it is excellent and easy to use as well. I used this item to clone my daughters mechanical hard drive over to a Samsung Evo 120GB SSD. Once the cloning was complete. I simply installed the SSD inside the PC and made sure the boot priority in Bios was correct and presto, her PC is booting up in 15 seconds. This cable is top notch quality. I highly recommend for cloning. 5Best cloning software. A must for converts to SSD Superb cloning software. I have done 3 win 10 system conversions to SSD. Corsair provides a bootable CD over many systems. The migration process is very user friendly. Cloning is intricate. Corsair checks EVERY sector transferred. It also compresses low capacity SSD drives (if necessary) to achieve full conversion. (I had one such instance). Corsair provides any needed updates as a menu option. My SSD's vary by size and manufacturer. Corsair can analyze and properly clone any HD to SSD. I have no connection whatsoever to Corsair. Don't hesitate to buy. (Great Price and shockingly impressive performance. 5What a Relief! I was stunned how easy this was to use, and how flawlessly it worked. This may indeed be a repackaged cable as one user said, but I'm glad it was. They packaged it with hand-picked drive cloning software that actually worked, unlike reports I've read about many apps out there. How easy was it? I figured I'd be forced to create a bootable CD, boot from that, and and create the cloned drive image that way. (Like, how do you get a clean Windows image while the OS is running?) But no--not sure how they did it, but it works brilliantly inside Windows without creating a bootable CD. I feel like a new man with my SSD running in place of the old, slow hard drive. Creating a boot CD to run the cloning software is also an option, but I used the shortcut and loved the results. I did download the latest version of their cloning software when given that option, just to be sure. The software automatically shrunk down the main partition by eliminating empty space, so it was OK that my new SSD was smaller than the original hard drive.Three steps, swap drives, and you're set. Brilliant. 5Simple, simple, simple................ Worked fine for me, very simple to use.I have a 1 TB HDD which had over 300 Gb of data. I moved my pictures, videos, documents, and download directories to a separate storage device as the Solid State Drive I intended to install only had a capacity of 240 Gb. Once done I inserted the CD provided by Corsair, connected my new SSD with cable provided and followed the on screen directions. The entire process was basically click, sit and wait. Now my original HDD was partioned into four partitions and the Corsair program set my new SSD up exactly the same way. Quite naturally one of my partitions was larger than the SSD storage capacity but the Corsair just assigned that partition with whatever remaining storage space I had.Once done it took out the old HDD and installed the new SSD. Turned on the pc and in no time at all it was up and running. I have Win 10 and all my programs installed on the new SSD.My intention was to use the old HDD as a second drive for file storage only. That took a little research on how to remove the partitions, format the old drive, and reinstall the HDD as my drive D for storage only. This is a Windows thing and has nothing to do with Corsair. All in all i don't have a single complaint................ 5Great little Package that works flawlessly! Great little package. The SATA-USB3.0 cable made cloning of my original HDD to SDD super easy. The software is a little bit odd as nothing really gets installed on your system. Rather, the software seems to load straight into memory, and functions from there. The cloning software offers an array of different cloning options - sizing partitions yourself, selecting specific data to clone etc.I did not feel like messing with any of the settings and let the software handle things on it's own. My original system had 2 partitions (one of them the system/boot partition), which the software cloned successfully, and even resized correctly to fit from a 1TB HDD to a smaller 500GB SSD.Cloning process took about 25 - 30min. After process was done I installed the resulting/cloned SSD into my system and booted up without any issues.( Almost as if the SSD was the systems original disk drive to begin with.)Great software! No convoluted extras or things to worry about. 5Trouble free hard drive cloning, but do you really need Corsair? Product worked as expected without any problems. Background - My laptop from Lenovo started to have a lot of boot-up problems where Windows would get stuck on the loading screen forever. At the beginning I would power down then back up, and the problem would disappear. Then after a while, the problem would become worse and worse until one day I had to shut the computer down like 5 times before it would boot into Windows desktop. I deduced the problem down to the HDD being the main culprit. I decided to go from a 500GB traditional disk drive (originally in the laptop) to a 256GB SSD. The biggest problem I had HDD Cloning. I knew there was a program I used a long time ago named Ghost that could do it, but after searching online I found that there are now numerous other programs that do the same. My laptop runs Windows 8, and I went ahead and reformatted the hard drive and restored with the restore partition included with every Lenovo product (I wanted to clone a factory edition of the hard drive basically). This Product - I ended up settling with the Corsair because I have used a lot of their products before. After running the CD, I found that the program (labeled Corsair on the CD) was actually just Apricorn's EZ GIG IV. Apricorn actually give their program away for free on their website i think, so basically the cost of the product was for the packaging and the cable. So I connected the SSD to the cable and cable to the USB port of my laptop. Let Windows finish its "install" of the new device, and then I popped in the CD and ran the program. Again, this is Apricorn's EZ GIG IV and I went with whatever version it was on the CD. The cloning wizard is pretty self explanatory up to the point where you are about to start the clone and you can fine tune some "advanced" features. You will need to go into advanced features (if I understand it correctly) only if you are cloning a smaller drive into a larger drive. If you don't tune it right, your smaller drive will be cloned with exactly the same amount of space rendering your lager drive mostly useless, but I digress. In my case, I am cloning from a larger drive to a smaller drive, so I did not change anything in the "advanced" settings. The cloning process took about 15-20 minutes (I didn't time it exactly). Afterwards, I swapped the old drive with the new SSD, and VOILA it booted into Windows like I didn't change anything at all. The whole procedure was PAIN FREE. I had more of a headache getting the laptop to open up.I only gave this product 4 stars because I could have, in a sense, just bought the cable and downloaded Apricorn's EZ GIG IV from their website and saving myself a few bucks... 4Apple OSX users be aware... If you are considering this cloning kit for use with Apple OS X be advised that the included software CD does not actually have the cloning software necessary for use with Apple operating systems. The CD only has the Windows 7 compatible EZ GIG IV software. The Apple OS X compatible software is called Superduper! and is available from a company called Shirt Pocket. There is a read me file on the CD with a link to this site or you can just go directly to Shirt Pocket and download a free version of the software. So the Corsair Cloning kit is full featured with software if you are cloning a drive on a Windows 7 based computer. If you are cloning a drive for Apple OS X you are just getting the USB/eSATA cable. I love Corsair products but the description of the cloning kit is somewhat misleading since it states all over the packaging that it is compatible with OS X which would lead you to believe that the necessary software is included. It is obvious that it is one of those situations where a company just puts their name on a cable and software from other companies for marketing purposes. The Shirt Pocket Superduper! software works as advertised and the tech support is amazing. I e mailed a question about the cloning process and received a response from the developer within an hour. The cloning process was perfect and created an exact bootable copy of my Mac Mini's hard drive. I upgraded my HDD in my Mac Mini to an SSD drive and after I installed the SSD the Mac Mini booted up perfectly and performance is greatly increased.I'm giving this four stars because the Shirt Pocket Software worked great, Corsair needs to better explain what their kit includes. 4
