The super ultra thin cable !!! This is the best optic cable that I bought, i recently purchased 3 optic cables in amazon and I had to return all of them as they don't perfectly fit my bose Cinemate 15. This one is perfectly fits the bose cinemate 15 and you hear the click sound when you plug it. I would say the cable is ultra thin, the entire 50 feet cable came in a small package. I'm happy with this purchase and I strongly recommend this product to my friends, 5Perfect! Perfect! I bought a 10$ one a few weeks ago. It wouldnt work for my surround sound but did my sound bar to my other tv... what a waste. I got it because the one I had was to short for what i wanted to do. This one is perfect! I got it and right away plugged it in. Still have some slack like I needed!! 5TV Dig-Out to AV Box in the closet - Not so good - but a great long optical cableThe cable worked great, except I made some novice assumptions. If you plan to run a digital audio cable from your TV back to a closet where the rest of your gear sets - check it before you crawl up to a roof or below the house with the cable.My intention - support Apple TV, ChromeCast and an Over the Air (OTA) antenna plugged in at the front of my TV - send the audio from any of these devices back to my AV receiver in the close and send out 5.1 sound to my speakers.The reality - After a test that revealed I could get stereo sound, but not 5.1/7.2 sound from the cable I did an internet search. Turns out not all TVs pass through surround sound from every HDMI Input to a digital-out port. This issue had been raised in an AppleTV post. Sure enough, I dug into my Panasonic TCP42G25 manual - and found 1 line on page 37/76* No optical cable is necessary for the equipment that has HDAVI control 5 and is connected with an HDMI cable. One other line makes it a bit more clear that you can't get surround sound passed from other HDMI output to the digital output.* When audio from other equipment connected to this unit via HDMI is output using DIGITAL AUDIO OUT of this unit, the system switches to 2CH audio.In all digital world, this naive consumer thought that would be natural and easy - pass a digital signal from any active HDMI port to the "digital output". I have several devices that use optical connectors, from my PS3/Xbox to my PC & AV receiver and while the TOSLink connection "should" be the same, they are not. I have several types of TOS cables from a good range of companies in which some I bought and others came with products I bought.My problem is that some of the ends of these cables don't click into place on some of these devices. Anyone familiar with TOS cables know that once you have it facing the right way it just clicks into place and will hold. Well I've noticed that some of my TOS cables just don't click/lock into place. So when a cable is lightly touched it just falls out of the port. The most upsetting part for me was that this was happening with some of my "so called" high end cables. Yet on other devices I could use the same cable and it would click and be fine.[If I may make a side note here and bring to peoples attention that with optical cables, there are NO high end cables. The cable either works (Transmits light) or it doesn't. The quality of the cable my be in it's durability (i.e. a thicker cable can be placed where you think someone could step on it and a nice thick cable could do a better job than a thin one in protecting it, but the audio quality doesn't improve with that.]Well I'm happy to report that was not the case with these cables I bought here on Amazon. I was a little apprehensive at first but I owned an exact pair of these before and it works on all my devices optical ports. So I've been scrutinizing the pics online to see if could find these cables again, and I have. The end connector was the one that matched my existing ones. These seem to have the ends manufactured to the correct/right specifications, so that they click into place on all my devices.This "IS" the cable and it clicks securely in place. I still am not sure whats to blame. The devices port or the cable, but in my case it seems to point that some cables just aren't made to fit snugly in the port, unless this cable is made in a way that can compensate for the lack of a good lock on the optical port itself.In any case, if you are having the same problem, feel confident in knowing this cable will click into place and not fall out. Lastly if you are thinking that this cable is looking thin or frail, just know that all optical cables are, they are not meant to be stepped on or sharply bent. If you worry about putting these in such a place, invest in a plastic cable floor cable management that you can thread the cable through and protect it from being stepped on.5PRELIMINARY REVIEW - Pre-Install Caution Statement (Will follow-up Post Installation)I RARELY do a preliminary (Pre-installation) review, however, I thought it appropriate to NOTE to prospective customers that if your installation plan includes routing this cable through any area where the cable may be accidentally or casually bumped or physically stressed, then this cable MAY not be appropriate for YOUR specific use. Although the pictures on Amazon do not disclose it, the cable material itself id EXTREMELY thin(perhaps < 1.5mm!). I have utilized very thin TOSlink(optical) cables of equal thickness with success in the past, but only in very short runs, i.e., less than 8 feet and generally not physically accessible. The 75 foot length of this cable suggests that it may be exposed to a wide range of environmental conditions and/or subject to touch/movement /etc. ***I will follow-up with a post installation review to be fair to the manufacturer/distributor.3Perfectly adequate.Although this optic cable has a thin jacket it should be suitable for most applications where the cable is not subjected to repeated motion or physical abuse. In addition, the end connectors are the best size for situations where two Toslink I/O ports side-by-side are being used. I have "premium" optical cables and the end connectors are so large they physically interfere with each other on some equipment (e.g. PC sound card with Toslink I/O) if used in the situation described. The smaller end connectors do require a firmer grip to disengage and can be a little less convenient where you have to reach into a equipment bay and past other cables to plug or unplug the cable. Technically, there is no practical difference in the optical performance of a budget cable like this one and much more expensive cables where you are paying extra for a heavy jacket and connectors.4Not a "HEAVY JACKET" It says "HEAVY JACKET" in the description. That's just not true. This is one of the thinnest I have ever encountered, and if it lasts 5 uses I will be surprised. Additionally, if it lasted 5 years I still wouldn't raise my rating because I am getting tired of people "mislabeling" their products. I just don't believe you accidentally wrote a lie in all caps. 2Delicate, but great value if you know what you are doing.So, I was hesitant about purchasing after reading reviews about how thin and delicate these cables were. I am glad to say I ignored the negative reviews and purchased this product anyway. I am very happy and ordered more for my other TV's. This is not a product for pulling cables through the walls, however if you are careful and have access to your receiver/amplifier without having to "pull" the cable, it will work well for you. I recommend taking the product outside in the sun, uncoiling it when you receive it, and let it relax into a straight line (100 feet in my case). After that, I rerolled it onto an extension cord reel, took it into my attic and unrolled it up there with not kinks or problems. This product works great and is exactly as described. I would and have ordered this product again.5No need to spend big on fiber optic cables. These prove the point.Not much to say about a cable, but what I can say is that it works as perfectly as possible. Many outfits market overkill cables of this kind, with heavy insulation and oversized connectors. Well, you do not need to insulate a fiber-optic cable and the connector can be manifestly simple and small and the combination will work just fine. This cable follows those rules and works well. In addition, its small size makes it less obtrusive than the more upscale types. Of course, many enthusiasts like their cables to be obtrusive. It adds a cache that makes them feel smug and superior. That is infantile, especially with digital cables, where knowledgeable people will judge you to be a victim of your own ego. Although I've been using and programming computers since DOS, I'm ashamed to admit I had never started using a NEW TOSlink cable before. Therefore a word to others: be sure to remove the plastic tip protectors BEFORE trying to use the cable. It took me a week of cursing and researching my "wrong" cable order before it suddenly dawned on me that those little plastic tips weren't a different type of connector but simply protectors to be REMOVED!5Excelled productThis product though thin holds up well and I would recommend it highly. In my case, i was routing this thin wire along with 4 HDTV cables, and a speaker wire from above my fireplace to a 90degree drop through a hose routing around the fireplace to the basement. Now the wires were coming from the basement up (being pulled to the TV vs pushed down. Then routed along the basement ceiling across to approx 25 ft before being pushed up between the walls and out. The one end of the cables (coming to the TV) were carefully wrapped with seran wrap before being pulled and the other end just similar. Cable holds up well and despite the distance and the 5.1 Dolby surround sound, there seems to be no lag in sound. Love every aspect of the sound distribution!5They WorkObviously, considering that they re very inexpensive, the cord quality is not large and a bit fragile, but they work, so that s really the end result. I ordered four of them and they all work, obviously if you know optical cables, the ends of them are fragile so just like any other optical cable got to take care when inserting into female receptacle.5
