Customer Reviews

Best solution currently available This is the only shell case I could find for the XPS 2015 13.3". It is a perfect fit. Literally fits like a Cell phone case, with small, overlapping tabs holding the covers on. The tabs on the lid and base hook over the screen and keyboard. This color is a darker tint. The kickstand legs are a welcome addition. The bad: The cover tabs keep the lid from fully closing by a 1-2mm, and potentially flex the hinge less than 1mm if fully closed. Venting slots in the back blocks 50% of exhaust ports. I think all of these things are typical of this type of case. Matt finish attracts fingerprints, but not too noticeable. 5* Case snaps into place and fits snugly * Doesn't feel like it's in the way of any ports * Doesn't ... Pros:* Case snaps into place and fits snugly* Doesn't feel like it's in the way of any ports* Doesn't feel like it prevents the laptop from closing fully (although technically maybe held ajar about .5 to 1mm)Cons:* Edges are not rounded, feel a little sharp* Plastic feels cheap and shiny (and not in a pretty high-gloss kind of way), unlike the soft rubberized Procase shell I have for my Macbook. This contrasts with the high end build quality of the laptop itself.* The black one is only very very mildly translucent, not see-through enough to clearly see the Dell logo or any stickers (if you're a sticker kinda person).* Has small raised lettering (model number?) at the bottom edge of the shell for the screen and a small raised arrow to indicate which way to orient the shell. It's annoying because it's clearly a corner cut when they should've printed an indicator on the inside of the shell to indicate which way side goes down but chose not to to cut manufacturing costs.* Does not include a silicone keyboard cover.Summary:Appears to be the only option available. Could be worse. I will continue to use it for the time being. 3A Solid Product for Laptop Protection I received this cover set a few days before the XPS 13, and when I first took it out of the package I was surprised at how pink it looked - I was nervous it was going to look a bit too pink when placed on the laptop. It's touted as being "red" after all, not pink. When my XPS 13 arrived, I easily snapped the top and bottom pieces into place and the colour is most definitely red. I'd prefer a slightly darker red hue (heck, I'd love to see a completely opaque option), but thankfully it doesn't look pink. In some light, it looks orange. The bottom though has so many holes for heat venting it looks quite garish and over the top. I'm not entirely convinced they're all required for thermal reasons, but given how infrequently the bottom is seen, it's not a big deal. The bottom also gives you small pop-out legs that angle the laptop upwards a bit, also creating extra space for cooling. It's a nice touch. This product was created to fit the XPS 13 *perfectly* - there isn't a wasted millimeter anywhere, which is great. The plastic is thick, strong, and of a very high quality. It does add slightly to the thickness of the laptop, especially the pop-out legs, but only by a few mm. I've used it for a bit over a week now, and some small scratches are visible - so I think it's a bit soft. I'm OK with that though, I'd rather replace a shell every six months than have my laptop be damaged.Overall, especially for the price, this is a good way to protect my laptop and I'm happy with the purchase. 4Only hard shell case for XPS 13, but that's okay! This is the only hard shell case I was able to find for my Dell XPS 13. I don't know if it's because it's a fairly new laptop or because it's not a MacBook (there are so many different hard shells for MacBooks) but it made me very hesitant to purchase this case. I am mostly happy with the case and how it fits my machine. The coolest thing about the case is the kickstand. The fact that it has two legs on the bottom of the case that pop out that allows the machine to be tilted is great. This is especially helpful when the laptop is connected to other monitors and using an external keyboard. It puts the laptop in a lot better position for viewing it next to other monitors. The only bad thing about the laptop is that the case keeps it from closing all of the way. It's nothing big, it's only a tiny amount, but it does keep it from shutting completely which can be a little annoying for those that are OCD. 4Nice shell case for the Dell XPS Fits my Dell XPS perfectly! This was easy to put on, but would have been nice to have sticker arrows or something to show which direction; I was a bit nervous I'd break a clip while repeatedly re-clipping it on to get it in the right direction. Not a big deal, obviously, as there are only two ways it could go!I like the air flow vents on the bottom, this doubles as a support for the laptop (rather than sitting it on fabric in my lap, which can make it overheat). Fits snugly and seems durable; I don't feel like I have to be as careful. I also keep my laptop in a 13.3"neoprene sleeve, which it fits into fine with this case. 5Nice shell that DOES fit the new Dell XPS 13" 9360 touch models as of March 2017 Just wanted to clarify that this DOES fit the new Dell XPS 13 9360 models (not the 2 in 1, but the regular 13" laptop). My Dell XPS is new as of March 8, 2017. I don't know why the manufacturer keeps stating in the questions that it doesn't, unless people are ordering this for the 2 in 1 version of the DellIt fits very well. You get two pieces. The top is solid with no logo or branding. It does leave fingerprints, at least when new - maybe there is a film left from manufacturing. It clips on securely and won't harm the laptop. I would note that right in the middle front, where you might want to put your finger to lift the top, there is no clip, and the shell will lift a little, but not enough that it feels it would crack or come off. The Dell requires two hands to open anyhow. The bottom piece also clips on securely. It has plenty of open sections for ventilation. None of the ports are covered. There are two flip-down legs if you want to raise the back part of the laptop about an inch or slightly more.It obviously does add a little to the bulk of the laptop, but minimally, and no significant extra weight. Overall, I think it's worth the cost. It would likely break first and absorb a lot of the impact if you were to drop your laptop. 5Fits perfectly. Looks better than the picture. The mCover Green iPearl Hard Shell Case Fits perfectly and looks better than the picture. I am one of those silly people that agonize over buying the computer that looks pretty over the computer that has the functionality I need. Now I can have it all. Hand's down, this is one of my favorite accessories. I have since bought the red and black mCover iPearl Hard Shells and I change them at will. Easy to snap on and off and sleek looking, you will love this cover. 5Loose fit, annoying textures, and terrible clasps. I wanted to like this product. I really did. I wanted something to make my XPS look nicer and feel protected. This product is simply not up to par.The first big problem I have with it is the textures printed onto it. On the bottom of the top case, there are downwards pointing arrows and the title "DL-XPS13-2". Are downwards arrows really necessary? If someone can't figure out how to put the case on, put a sticker with a downwards arrow. You don't need it permanently textured onto the case. If you don't know what I mean, it's like braille. A bump in the plastic to show the writing and arrows, and it's really annoying. The next part is the loose fit. While it's not loose enough to come off, it's definitely loose enough to be very creaky. Every time I touch the case, I can feel it moving, hear it moving, and this is both annoying and not good for the computer. If dust makes it in, these movements will make more scratches on the computer than not having a case at all.My last problem is the clasps. There are 3 on the bottom, and 6 on the top. The top ones don't bother me as much, but the bottom ones are where I keep my wrists, and they are constantly digging into my wrists. They have turned using the XPS from being a great and comfortable experience to being painful. It's hard, because this is the only company that I've found to make a shell for the XPS. I have an AmazonBasics sleeve, though, and will likely be using that and sending this back. Simply a poorly designed product. 2Some Things to Know About This Case A few things you might want to know about this case. 1) It fits but as others have reported when your laptop is open and you're using it, the left rear corner on the bottom isn't as tight of a fit as you will probably like and it acts like it wants to come off but doesn't, 2) The vents don't line up on the bottom if that's important to you, 3) It seems to fit the 2016 9360 model okay and 4) I'd suggest you get it in clear because the DELL logo does NOT show through as the image suggests. It just looks like a generic plain flat black outter case and people might think it's an Acer. lol 3Top is good. Bottom is very bad. The top fits really well with clips/tabs that attach pretty securely on the sides and top. The bottom piece, on the other hand, fits surprisingly poorly and feels like it's going to fall off every time I pull it out of my laptop bag. The bottom has 8 clips or tabs, but only three of them securely attach to the laptop. See the attached annotated photo that goes with the notes below.1. Not designed to attach.2. Does not attach.3. Does not attach.4. Attaches very poorly.5. Not designed to attach.6. Attaches securely.7. No tabs on the front.8. Attaches securely.9. Attaches securely. The fit, color, and texture of the top are all pretty nice, so I may just toss the bottom half, but I can't recommend this product if you're looking to protect both sides of your laptop. 2
