much better then a tool bag I got this to replace a toolbag which was getting to cumbersome to carry any significant distance. Being able to put it on as a back pack has freed my hands up making to so much easier and more comfortable to carry. Its got a good selection of pockets and can hold so much stuff. The feature that I really liked and sold me on this model is the open pouch on the front, it has straps to cinch down and I use it as a catch all for gloves and rags so that the inside compartments don't get wet or dirty. A backpack tool bag is so much better if you need to carry tools any significant distance. The only complaint I have is that it can be difficult to put on when its loaded down, but this would apply to any backpack. But once its on you got free hands to carry materials or other tools. 5its a good bag. I've been using it for three months ... Update: it is now April 2019. This bag is still in use! One of the rubber bumpers on the bottom fell off. Other than that, I m still packing my tools around with it.This tool backpack does the job. Seems to be durable enough for the mining industry. My only complaint is that it is not long enough so the weight balance is off. If it was a longer (or taller) back pack, it wouldn't be so top heavy. Over all though, its a good bag. I've been using it for three months for underground electrical work, its caked in dirt, all the zippers are still functioning and there are no rips or tears yet. 4BUY BUY BUY First off, I'm a Fire Sprinkler Fitter. Sometimes I have to lug my tools around long distances, so I tried this bag out. It's perfect.I've had this for a few months now. The materials on the bag are thick and durable, so I have no fear of this breaking at all. I carry all of my everyday tools with it and still have some pockets leftover. The bag ended up being bigger than what I expected, which is great. My bag, with all of the tools stuffed in it, weighs around 45lbs. It's still comfortable when carrying it up 5 stories of stairs. Also, you can't tip it over, so it stays clean.My co-worker has the similar Milwaukee backpack which is almost 2x the price. This bag has more pockets for tools, spreads open better, has a safety/ sunglasses pouch, and felt more durable.Buy it. 5Heavy Duty, lots of pockets, and solid quality! I have lots of tools, and wear many "hats" at work. I might be checking out optical fiber, running network wires, installing communications equipment in a cabinet or vehicle, or doing light mechanical repairs at the top of a pole. I never know what tool I need, and because of my situation, I sometimes leave my work truck at one location while I go to another. I needed a great tool bag to help me quickly transfer my tools, and have them handy when needed.This is the perfect bag for the job.It's heavy duty- you feel that immediately. I like the 2 handles, to prevent dumping tools out if you are just grabbing it by the handles and it's unzipped. I very quickly tossed my tools in today, and found the many pockets swallowed them up without a burp. In fact, I think with re-arranging, I can put many more in...two large mouth tool bags' worth. I like the velcro loop for a cordless drill, but I probably won't be using it for that. I am very glad for the flexibility and variety of pockets they put in.The zippers feel sturdy, and the pull tabs will be handy if I'm wearing gloves. I also use a double carabiner by Nite Ize to clip the zippers together (2 on each side) when I'm moving about. I use the same trick on my hiking backpack and even for my carry-on luggage.I'm a bit leary of the tape measure clip...it's brilliantly covered with metal for longer service, but I'm concerned my tape measure will slip off in transit. I'm using it now anyway, but with a watchful eye. So far, so good.The shoulder straps are solid and soft, so I'm not concerned that one will break quickly if I simply sling this over one shoulder, and I love that there is a chest strap that clips between the two. This really IS a backpack converted to carry tools, not a tool bag with shoulder straps. It sits very comfortable on my back.I like the "kangaroo pouch" (my name, not theirs) on the front, and it was partly what tipped my decision to this bag. The adjustable clips that let it expand and open are great. I have already carried a heavy duty small extension cord coiled up and snapped one clip in the center as extra protection to hold the cord from falling out.A couple of things I would have added, or liked with this (to give it 6 stars! Lol!), would be a strap/loop for electrical tape with a lobster claw clip and metal ring to close it, and a flashlight/water bottle pouch/bag on the side (or both sides!!) Their absence doesn't detract one bit though. Interestingly enough, I had some reservations about the two padded handles before I ordered. I really like the "rubber over padded" handles I've seen on regular backpacks, (which this DOESN'T have), but I have to say the padded-only handles work fantastically with the rest of the bag. I like them.Oh, the bottom seems heavy duty, and has 4 corner "feet" consisting of plastic ridges to help reduce wear on the bottom.As a final note, loaded with lots of tools, this actually seems lighter than carrying them in tool bags by hand. Perhaps it's because the weight is at my center of mass on my back, and my legs are carrying the weight, which are much stronger than my arms.The price is around $60, but when you buy quality, you get more value than the price. And with a bit of care, this bag will easily last 10 years for me.For anyone who is a prepper, while this bag is certainly heavy duty enough, it is geared strongly towards tools. There aren't enough pockets to hold little things, in my opinion. Of course, if you're looking for a bag to store tools for the ready, this is your bag! I'll be using small pouches for tiny tools, like jeweler's screwdrivers and tossing them inside. I would certainly toss in a desiccant if you're going to store them long, to prevent rusting. And of course lightly oil any tool that needs it and wipe it nearly dry before you load and zip shut.I love this bag. If you buy it, you will too. I used to carry a Husky handbag of tools to work everyday. So I thought I could use this backpack to replace that handbag and make things easier. I took all the tools that was in the handbag and put it in this backpack. First impressions, it was significantly heavier than the handbag, even on my shoulders. It is also somewhat thick; or puffy. For example, people who see me with this backpack think I'm carrying a lot of stuff when I'm not. It's thicker than my college backpack full of books and a laptop. It is kind of awkward to carry. I don't want to use the chest strap, so it pulls away from upper chest and looks weird.However, it is a great tool backpack. There are a variety of pockets and it does as expected. One thing I like about this bag is I can shove my lunch and drink where the cable compartment is. Give and take. Overall, I would recommend this backpack. 4Not a Veto bag but it works well for lighter use...organized my tools and makes them portable This was the best solution for my need which was a container that was portable if I needed it to be but most importantly a good size to hold my recently downsized tool set. Got rid of a seven drawer mechanic's chest keeping only the tools that my slower (and older) lifestyle will now need. This bag is clearly not as rugged as some of the Veto bags but I don't need a bag to stand up to 250 workdays a year and throwing it into a pickup three, four, five times a day. I also didn't need to spend $150-$200. I just need a bag to organize and store my toolset (a carpet bag with everything throw in the bottom was not enough organization).The pockets are reasonably well thought out although some I have no idea what to put in them. The center section stands more or less on its own with tools in the pockets on both sides of it. The zippers seem OK--not the heavy duty brass zips of years ago but an above average heavy nylon zip. The cloth is rugged. Unlike some reviews, the plastic bottom was essentially flat, not warped. Loaded for me it is just over 30# and the backpack is OK with that load--wouldn't want to walk 10 miles with it but it is comfortable for short walks.Durability is unknown but it seems well-made. If it has problems in the first six to twelve months I will update the review. Bottom line: please with the purchase. It solved problem I had. Not a workhorse bag for a professional mechanic/HVAC/etc worker but it will work well for lighter use. 4Poor quality This is the second CLC bag I've owned (1st bag performed great) this bag is falling apart at the shoulder straps. I repair wheelchairs and other mobility devices, and have a wide variety of tools I use on a daily basis. I have one large toolbag, a Husky 20" as my main repository, but it's too bulky to carry around. I also have a smaller to-go bag, open top like the husky. It's a good little bag, but it quickly gets cluttered with other tools I tend to grab from the bigger one from time to time. I was hoping this backpack would solve the problem.But it didn't. The number of pockets was ok, but there weren't any pockets for smaller things, like dental picks, medical clamps, precision screwdrivers, etc. Plenty of pockets for all my driver handles, wrenches, and even socket strips, but just not enough for odd-sized stuff, like my multi-meter, which fit into one of the larger flap pockets, but then the flap doesn't quite catch on the velcro. Also no good place to keep a bundle of zip ties where they're easy to get to.The bag also wanted to flop over all the time, even though I have tools in the front and back.But the worst thing for me, it wouldn't sit right just slinging the bag over one shoulder. That was the deal breaker. I wasn't going to be always using both straps, probably rarely (which is difficult with a jacket on).Regrettably, this one will be returned, and my search continues. 3Love this bag Bag is good quality with tons of compartments.I have an IT business and do a moderate amount of low-voltage work and installations. With a conventional toolbox I would have to unpack everything with my tools all over the table/work area. With this bag I unzip the sides and bam all of my tools are organized easily accessible, my low-voltage specific tools on one side and general tools on the other:Updated 5/13/2015:Bag is still going strong with no real signs of wear/tear.You can really fit so much in this bag, sometimes I think it is bottomless. I have the Milwaukee as well, but I've been using that as an electrical bag as I haven't loved how hammers and squares ride in it. That said, I think I'm going to buy another backpack, I just don't know what. Something with more or less lay flat that is also not a garbage sack like the TLC 2

I have the Milwaukee as well, but I've been using that as an electrical bag as I haven't loved how hammers and squares ride in it. That said, I think I'm going to buy another backpack, I just don't know what. Something with more or less lay flat that is also not a garbage sack like the TLC 2
