    Great for the tradesman but great for home tooI'm an industrial electrician and my tool bag was starting to get way too heavy to carry around for trouble shooting. I've had my share of tool pouches before but none of them ever really seem to hit the spot. Either they are too shallow and my longer tools end up sticking out almost sideways, or they are too small and I can only cram a few basic tools in there. This pouch is the best by far in regards to depth and pockets, and it also has a measuring tape mount, and a electrical tape chain.Just to give you an idea, here's what I normally carry in this:-Phillips screw driver-1/4" flat tip long screw driver-3/8" tip hammering screw driver-11 in 1 screwdriver-Channel Lock 420 and 440-16' measuring tape-Electrical tape-Electricians scissors-3/8" and 7/16 nut drivers-Greenlee torpedo level-Greenlee mini bubble level (no dog)-Fluke T5-1000-Klein crimpers-6 inch needle nose pliers-Metric and standard allen hex sets-No contact voltage tester-Wire strippers-Cabinet screwdriverAlso try their tool bags, I prefer the synthetic to the leather but to each their own!5New design, they should change the items name from 1509 to lameI had a 1509 shoulder bag and finally wore it out. Ordered a new one and it arrived totally different design. No back mesh pocket, no phone pocket, redesigned carry handle which feels really cheap and the stitching and pockets are less durable.I think that they simply don't care anymore.I'm returning it for refund and gotta now find something else that will work for me.1Great Pouch for an Electrician.This is the third time I ve purchased this particular pouch, (And most likely will again). I work as an electrician, so I am definitely hard on my tools and such. The life of this product for me averages 2+ years.Pros: durable overall (see exception below), provides great placement for my hand tools.Neutral: I don t use the carrier loop on the top (kinda in the way at times) snd I actually cut off the tape holder/ and clip (It get stucks on stuff, plus that's not where I usually put my tape anyway). As I said above, I m hard on my equipment. from my first purchse to the second the larger 2-compartment area on the pouch got bigger. Room for more tools is a plus, but I liked it smaller. Tends to hang away from your body a lot moreCons: The seam at the bottom on the front pouches will eventually fail, and tools will start coming out (this is the ONLY reason I purchased a new one)5Not well made, falling apart, not CLC qualityAfter 3 months of heavy daily use as my primary tool bag for electrical service work. I love the concept of the bag, the zip up top keeps my tools secure when bouncing around in the van. The problem I have is the quality, the shoulder straps broke off at the point where they swivel, they weren t able hold up under a fully loaded bag. The fabric is starting to tear apart where the handle attaches to the bag.Not well made and did not hold up. I didn t expect this from CLC.2Well worth the money and comfort.I was looking for a tool pouch to replace the bulky ones that my employer gave me.Initially, I was leaning towards a different brand with a belt clip attachment along with the shoulder strap. I decided in this one because it appeared that most every available part of this bag is usable. I especially like the fact that it can be closed.I have yet to experience any problems one month in, but I will say that compared to the other pouches I received from my employer, the material is a lot thinner. I anticipate that this may wear out faster, but I have yet to experience any back pain carrying this around most of the day.Other co-workers saw it and liked the idea. A few of them immediately bought one...5Known zipper defect!! Look at the corner area of the zipper, it won't take the sharp turn.I ordered and returned two of these 1509"s. The zipper will not close due to a workmanship/ design flaw. I contacted CLC through their website Contact Form. They are very slow in responding which resulted in my exchanging one bad 1509 for another bad 1509 thru Amazon. When CLC finally responded via email, they stated that any 1509's ordered thru Amazon would be defective. Hmmm....! They stated that the 1509's have been "revamped" and those shipped from the CLC warehouse would be the new design. You can see this for yourself if you browse CLC's site and compare their model 1509 to the ones on Amazon. Specifically, the zipper has been fixed and the Handle is different (rounded). Of course, they are priced about 20.00 dollars more- plus you pay the shipping. I have never run into an issue like this on Amazon. It's important to note that CLC makes some seriously tough, durable and well designed products. I work with a guy who has used a old version of the 1509 for over ten years in a heavy commercial aircraft maintenance environment. His bag has been exposed to harsh weather, oils, fluids and other contaminants. His bag is full and heavy, tossed around and dropped. It has had absolutely no failure to the handle, zipper or any feature of the bag. Simply put, CLC makes or USED to make the Best of the best tool bag/ pouch/ carrier for our needs. I am seeking some help on resolving this issue, so far CLC has been slow to respond. If you want this model, I recommend verifying that you will be getting the "revamped" model.1No back zippered pocketNice Bag. Although, mine is a little different(Must be a newer model) it does not have the back zippered pocket nor the 1980's phone holder(LOL)It would be perfect if: it was about 2 inches wider and if the bottom was more square shaped so it could stay sit upright. Seems that there is a little of unused area towards the bottom too (My dewalt impact does not fit and my fieldpiece stick meter barely fits)I have no use for the hammer holder.improvements wanted: bring back the zippered back pocket and add another zippered pocket in the inside top area. add a rubber square shaped bottom so it can stay sit upright.4Good tool pouch. Not the greatest. You definitely get what you pay for when buying this tool pouch. I've had it for about 16 months and its still in one piece. For the most part. About 6 months in the zippers started to fail. At 9 months, one of the clips for the shoulder strap broke. Honestly though not too worried about it because as an Electrician, this bag paid for itself after a couple hours of work if you think about it in those terms. Other than those two things, the pouch itself has withstood countless hours of lugging around crammed full of electrical tools and hardware. The handle is still very much intact and not showing any signs of tearing so its still my everyday pouch in the plant. If it weren't for driving a cart around the plant, lugging it would be a chore because of the broken straps but other than that I have no complaints. Like I said, you get what you pay for in this bag and would definitely buy again in a pinch. If you're looking for a bargain tool pouch this bad boy is the way to go. Just don't expect your 36 bucks to last you 10 years because it won't. 4Good, not perfect.EDIT 1/5/17 - After a fair amount of usage since purchase on 11/17/16 I've got a couple of updates; since the work I do doesn't normally require a hammer I used a Dremel tool to remove the hammer loop. I left the four rivets in place and simply cut off the loop at the thinnest part of the metal. I have found a number of times I needed a tape measure and the 1509 model doesn't have a tape measure clip. I found an old keyring and placed it on the belt clip of a 25' tape measure. Now I can attach the tape measure to the 1509 by utilizing the built in key holder. The LeatherCraft hasn't softened up much after a month of constant use - the material and partitions are still a bit too stiff.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I'll be using the LeatherCraft 1509 as an on-the-move computer network cabling resource.The bag itself is quite stiff - "hopefully" as it wears some of the stiffness will work out. Some of the pockets get in the way of others and trying to push the unused pockets flat is an exercise in futility. I'm tempted to razor blade the offending bits and pieces of material out of the way, but don't want to alter it until I''m satisfied that I've got everything squared away.The "cell phone" holder is pretty much relegated to a flip-style phone; at least my Samsung Core Prime won't fit. I took a small prescription bottle and filled it with RJ45 cable ends and put it in the cell phone pocket.The bag strap extended enough for me (5' 9") to wear "bandoleer style" which allows both hands to be free while preventing the bag from sliding off of ones shoulder.The hardest item to fit (see the list below) was the headlamp; the bag is designed around pliers, screwdrivers, etc. and a bulky item like a headlamp is tough to match. I managed to push some of the unused pockets aside and fit the headlamp in; as noted the pockets are very stiff. (EDIT: 1/5/17 I gave up trying to keep the headlamp in the bag - it simply got in the way too often).In one small pocket I placed a Cat5 cable stripper but the pocket runs too deep to easily retrieve the tool. I solved that by adding a lanyard to the tool and now a slight tug on the lanyard removes the tool from the bag.One note of interest - when the zippered top is unzipped and Velcro'ed to the bottom of the case, if I leave a little room (say 1 inch) open on the Velcro'ed strap then the cover acts as a 'leg' and the bag will stay upright on the floor. Once the cover is zipped backk up, however, the bag simply falls over. (EDIT 1/5/17 - After adding the tape measure (see above) to the key chain holder I found that the bag would stay upright when zippered close because the tape measure acts as a support leg.)For my purposes - crawling around in tight spaces trying to run or repair cables or build a quick patch cable without hauling out the large tool kit - I think the LeatherCraft 1509 will fill the bill. I just wish they had made it out of something less stiff, and left out a few of the pockets so as to allow room for bulkier items.I've stocked it with a minimal set of tools and parts (edited 1/5/17 to show what has really been used in a month long cabling job):1 Memo book (in zippered compartment under cover)1 Phillips/Straight bladed precision screwdriver ( inside in screwdriver holder)1 "6-in-1" type bit driver (inside pocket)48 Medium and 48 Small "zip" ties (bundled into two internal screwdriver holder)2 Wooden pencils (in inside screwdriver holder with "zip" ties)1 RJ45 crimper in (inside pocket)1 Side cutters pliers (inside pocket)48 RJ45 connectors (24 in inside pocket, 24 in cellphone pocket using plastic prescription bottles)1 Fluke Pro 200 Network toner and probe (in 2 inside pockets)1 Cat5 cable stripper1 Electrician's tape on external tape holder1 Tape measure on external key ring holder1 Box of staples (inside pocket)1 Cat5 staple gun (in the zippered compartment that is on the back of the bag). I've not noticed any wear after 1 month of carrying the staple gun in the zippered compartment. YMMV.HTHRegards,Jim4Good bag but needs reinforced bottom.So I wanna start with what is missing. I m hoping the manufacturer will hear it enough times and get it . It needs a solid rubber bottom. The fail point on this is gonna be the bottom this isn t a very rugged material and it needs inforcement. If I had this exact bag with a solid bottom I would easily pay another $20 ontop of the 35 and be happy. The function of this bag I love it s exactly what I need as a medium foundry millwright for my basic tools. The other thing is that the strap is super cheap too. I just wish I could buy something that would last a couple years. It s a good bag for the price and I m mostly happy with it.its a little bigger than I realized so look close in the photos.4Nice but poor durability This pouch has lots of storage and the cover adds a little piece of mind when walking away from your tools. I carried this pouch daily loaded with roughly 20lbs of tools.Within two weeks the rivets that hold the handle on broke, I replaced rivets with small bolts and washers and never had another issue. Next the rubber pull tabs on the zipper came off, the metal zipper is quite small without the rubber covers and made the zipper somewhat difficult to use. After about three months the zipper came apart completely and was unusable.The material is great and showed very little wear after about a year. This is a great product with very poor hardware. I will no longer be buying any CLC products with a zipper. Don't waste the money on this feature. 3PerfectPerfect design for a hvac tech. If I have a bigger diagnostic bag I tend to carry more stuff I don't need. 9/10 times I have everything i need in this bag. The zipper is awesome. Nothing falls out when climbing ladders or in crawl spaces. Everything is easily accessible. The strap is comfortable. I don't use most of the outside pockets. The handle is great. I use the zipper pouch for jumpers. There is padding on the back which makes it comfortable for belt mounting.Cons: I wish the material was a little nicer quality but at this price point I really cannot complain. I also wish the bottom had a hard material so my screwdrivers wouldn't poke a hole through it.5Defects with bag and no response from manufacturer when contacted Bought bag in March 2014 and both zipper pull tabs broke off in first 2 months of use then pouch on flap came apart on right side. Contacted CLC by email on issues with no response. Using 2 heavy duty paper clips to pull zippers closed, will have to take to shoe maker for pouch repair. I like the design, one thing that would have made bag better is a solid rubber base so you could set bag down with it standing upright and not tipping over. Would protect bag bottom from wear and keep bag/contents dry if set down on wet surface. Would have submitted higher rating if I had received a response or replacement bag from CLC. Will not buy another due to no action by CLC on issues with bag. Maybe Veto Pro will come out with a mid-sized bag like this, they have a 5 year no down time warranty on defects. 3
