Customer Reviews

good solid holster by my husband: I ordered this for some home remodeling where I'm on ladders or moving a lot. I've ruined some drills by dropping them so needed a better solution. This does the trick comfortably and more securely than the small belt clips that came with my drill. It seems very sturdy and I haven't used it a lot yet to really test it out. It does hang a little low for me. Also wishing the belt loop could be opened and closed to be able to put on and off a belt without undoing my belt - like some gun holsters are built. I expect to use it a lot in the future. Held back one star as I can't speak to durability but it feels like good strong material well assembled. 4Fits 18v Milwaukee perfect Should have bought this two years ago. Fits my Milwaukee 18v brushless fuel cordless drill easily. Fells very secure in the holster and also on my side. My drill fits down into the holster and doesn't ride high so it never feels like it's going to fall out. Rarely do I feel the need to clip the strap over the top. Usually I only clip the strap over the top when I'm done using the drill. I was always worried about setting my drill on top of the ladder, these things aren't cheap. This CLC holster has an open bottom so even a long drill bit or driver in the chuck is no problem. I got this for working at home but I'm going to buy another one to keep at work. I am a metal fabricator. 5Handymen - Get One, You'll Like It I cannot tell you how much I love this thing. It is so much more convenient to place my driver in a holster than it is to lay it down somewhere in the middle of a project and then have to awkwardly search for it while you're holding a 2x4 to the ceiling. It is exactly the right size for a full sized drill or driver (I put my Ryobi driver in it) and has held up to the abuse I tend to give my tools. I didn't like the strap that holds down the drill - it had a plastic catch that I just found in the way every time I tried to put the driver back into the holster. I fixed that by cutting the strap off. Seriously, I can't imagine that I will be in a situation where my drill needs to be secured into my holster. I added a leather pouch to the other side of my tool belt and I find that I am spending a whole lot less time trying to remember where I left my tools while working on something. That's important at my age. 5Almost perfect I ordered this sight unseen hoping for my ideal drill holster, and it works well, but not the best option for me. I looked at the dewalt, this one, the Home Depot Husky brand and the Lowes AWP brand. This was the only one I couldn't at least put my drill in to test the fit.Dewalt and Husky didn't fit my Dewalt dcd995 very well so they were out. I then alternated between this CLC and the AWP for a 12 camera security system install on a home.Fit and finish on both were nice, but this does seem better built. Both have Velcro strap retainers and plastic clips that are secure and effective. Both grip my drill firmly, reholster smoothly and hug my hip nicely. Both are easy to withdraw my drill from. The kicker for me was the elastic straps and pockets on the AWP are much more useful. This CLC has several closed bottom elastic pockets for 1" driver bits, useless to me. I drive with a driver and drill with a drill. There's just no useful accommodation to carry anything but the drill with this holster. The AWP has more open bottom pockets that hold drill bits securely, and an drawstring pocket for small items like screws or in my case fish rod tips. All in all it's a good holster, and experience leads me to believe it'll likely last longer than the Lowes brand. If you carry your drill everyday though, it's worth the few extra bucks to buy a few holsters to see how they'll feel in real life use. 4Works Okay The loop is a bit tight to put onto a tool belt.I'll buy a separate belt so that I can use this as needed, most of the time I don't need a drill, and when I do this will work fine.I like the small bit holders for bits and screws, they seem as though they're durable. This drill holder was the most minimally invasive advertising holster I could find, i.e., I'm not a professional getting paid to sport a manufacturers logo so I don't want to be their billboard. That's very important to me! 2Super useful drill holster This is a typical CLC product - well designed and constructed. It works perfectly with my DeWalt drill and gives it a secure place to rest and sure beats balancing it on a ladder! There are some small pockets for bits and drivers that are handy for swapping from drill bits to driver bits. I opted to get the CLC web belt so I can take it on and off as needed, but this will fit fine on most any web belt or tool belt that has room for another device.I think it's a necessity for working on a ladder with a drill where you need to put it down while doing other things in between drill use. 5Holster works perfectly, as advertised. Holster works GREAT, why I didnt buy one of these years ago I'll never know.... Securely holds my cordless with either the standard battery or the larger, extended use battery. The elastic clip that retains the tool is easily accessed with the right hand, to release the tool for use. The drill will 'sort of' stay in the holster without the clip, but I would not climb, etc with it unsecured..... I use it with a 2" wide belt and as in my other review, paired it with the CLC Custom Leathercraft 1620 Poly Nail and Tool Bag (on the same belt) to do a bunch of ladder top hardware replacement on a screen enclosure. The holster itself is very light, the little extra 'bit' pouches are convenient as well..... 5Worth the price if you have to use a drill a lot Recently installed security cameras on my house, and this was the first use of the drill holster. It worked like a charm, allowing me to only leave the ladder to get the next camera, while still allowing full use of my tool belt. The extra straps to hold additional tools probably would have been helpful too, if I remembered that they were there. The holster can accept any average-sized drill or impact hammer. The bottom is cutout so you don't have to worry about removing the bit before holstering it. There is a restraining strap that you can wrap around the handled to keep the drill from falling out; it also has a Velcro backing to keep the strap from getting in the way when reholstering. The belt gap is wide enough to handle nearly any size work belt. 5Works Great - Reasonably priced! I use mine with a Milwaukee M12 "Red Lithium" Compact Driver and a 2 inch and sometimes a 4 inch bit.It wears and hangs well, is easily secured with the locking strap which does a pretty good job of staying out of your way during holstering when "Velcroed" in the up position. I generally don't use the locking strap because I'm not climbing ladders or on a roof or anything and it stays in place just fine without it locked in. That said, the manufacturer put a strip of Velcro for the strap to be pulled back and fastened to. It works pretty well, but leaves the end of the strap a little in the way. I'm a little OCD so I would prefer it hold the strap completely out of the way, but it doesn't interfere with holstering at all. The drill seems to go in and out without a hitch.I have no complaints. This is a rugged, light weight product that stays in place and holds the drill securely, all for a reasonable price. And, I'm guessing that since it's Nylon or some such material, it can be washed to keep clean, though I don't know that for sure.Quality + Price = Value. 5Other holster makers, take note Other brands could really learn from CLC's impact/drill holster.I've tried so many other holsters and this one ended my search. It's by far the most functional system I've used.At first I didn't know what the velcro attached to the securing line was for. It's a simple and genius idea, in the event your tool should begin slipping out of the holster, the tool will pull up on the yellow line and stick to the velcro attached on the housing allowing it to be securely held, it also enables your tool from shifting and moving around during motion such as walking. The holster is being used with both my Milwaukee M12 Fuel impact driver as well as the drill. The elastic bands are extremely tight and hold any size drill bit in spades. I have to adjust to this holster as with other products I've used never held any drill/impact attachments properly, philips, shanks, bits were always falling out so I'm constantly looking down to my side to see if that's the case with this one, I'm happy to report that they hardly even move at all.Best part of this holster is the way the belt loop is positioned. Attached to the belt, the drill sits properly at 90 degrees and does not move forward and backwards as you walk, it just sits firmly straight up against your hip with almost no play.I'm having trouble finding anything wrong with the design of this holster, everything about it is superb. I don't see how something of this quality is offered at the price listed. 5
