Customer Reviews

Great pack, but check laptop's dimensions I recently managed to buy what is apparently one of the biggest, if not the biggest laptop still available on the market (an ASUS g751). It's 17.3" and 8.4 pounds. None of my myriad carrying solutions is sufficient to fully enclose the beast and I am partial to protecting it when mobile.I bought this Case Logic backpack solution as it was highly regarded by other reviewers. The features and benefits of the pack are as described and It has proven to be rugged, comfortable and efficient for all the extra stuff I stow (not only is the g751 huge and cumbersome, but it's power adaptor is also large and awkward).I took two rating stars off because when I firmly nestle the laptop down as far as it will go and give an extra tug to the pack's fabric siding, the zipper strains around the corner of the laptop and the device,s shape can be discerned from how it distorts the carrier.Since I bought this for one purpose: to port around a leviathan of a laptop. The laptop is a 17.3" device which the pack is billed to fit. While I don't do gymnastics with it on I suspect that the strain from the weight compounded by how tightly the zipper's teeth have to clench around the device that I'll probably be replacing it because of a busted zipper or torn fabric.Shame on me for not getting out measuring tape and double-checking...I foolishly assumed a 17.3" pack that claims to hold a 17.3" laptop would require extra precautionary steps to ensure it would actually contain the g751 17.3" computer. I knew going into this that the device was unwieldy. 3Great bag for those with giant (gaming) laptops. Make no mistake, this is a great bag, but I had to knock it a star because it's so very close to being a phenomenal bag. My 17" MSI gaming laptop fits snugly in the laptop compartment, and it does a great job stowing the chargers/portable HDDs/cables/mice/etc. The bag has also proven to be quite durable, after a year of daily usage, it still looks brand new. There are two things that could be improved however:1. The cinch straps are completely non-functional. With the bag fully loaded, so that I have trouble zipping it shut, I can still clip the cinch straps into place with the straps fully tightened. So the cinch straps are purely decorative. I wanted the straps to allow me to keep the bag as thin as possible when it's only partially loaded.2. The front compartment has a very useful zippered mesh pouch, and then 6 small, not so useful pockets. They're stacked 3 over 3, and the lower pockets are half height and stitched over the upper pockets. Two of the pockets are sized appropriately for a small stack of business cards, and the remaining four are sized appropriately for a small stack of playing cards. It'd be nice if they had more pockets, sized to fit things you'd commonly carry with a laptop/briefcase, things like pens, portable hard drives and so on.With all of that said, I'd totally buy this backpack again, as I couldn't find anything else on the market that comes close to matching the functionality/durability that it has. 4Dedicated partner. This thing is a rugged beast. Soon it'll be 3 years of toting a 8lb, 17.3in laptop with dimensions of 16.3 by 11.26 by 1.81 with all of it's components and peripherals (headset, controllers, external HDD, power brick, mouse, etc). It's survived 8 airport trips, 6 CONUS military missions (2 in field environments), and multiple road-trips with nearly no damage. The only parts damaged on it are the chest strap and the material on the very front. On the chest strap, even though I broke on of the prongs on the clips off it's still extremely secure when I need to use it. On the front bit, the shiny material you see is a coating of soft rubber that is on top of the nylon; even if it comes off the integrity of the bag is unchanged.I don't write many reviews. To get me to do more than click a star rating takes a lot. This bag though... It's been an extremely useful piece of equipment to me and I'm honestly impressed of the condition it's in after all of the crap I've put it through. I really abused this thing and it took it all in stride. Consider this review a 6th star to add on to the 5 above. 5Very practical bag with well thought out features I ve had this backpack for about 7 years now. 7 years! And it s still holding up great. The reason I m writing this review is because my wife bought me a new backpack for my birthday, and my reaction was not quite what she was looking for. I still love this bag and can t imagine trying to replace it. I went on Amazon to see when I bought this thing and couldn t believe it was back in 2012.The only minor issues I ve had are:-Small tears in the mesh internal pockets-Some of the shiny plastic veneer on the front of the bag has started to peelThis bag has served me very well over the years. I initially used it as a tech bag for work, but it slowly became my go-to bag for long weekends, as I can fit a TON of stuff in it. Separate laptop and tablet storage have proven very useful, especially once I had children. The small side zip pockets are perfect for a sunglasses case and a JBL flip speaker. The pocket on the lower back side is perfect for storing important documents like a passport for easy access. There are a ton of pockets on the inside that are just the right size for ipods, battery packs, flashlights, etc. the front vertical zip pocket is perfect for snacks, and the small top pocket is a great place for earbuds and cellphone. The compression straps are my favorite feature, as they allow me to stash a light jacket in the bag without actually packing it inside. They also keeps the bag from getting too bulky and allow me to fit it under an airplane seat.I really can t say enough about this bag, and I m in no way being paid for these comments. It s an awesome, well made bag with lots of practical, well thought out features. 5The best! I purchased this backpack almost two years ago for a little over the present asking price, as of this review it is $59.99, and it has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. It has a handful of small, medium and large pockets with enough space for 6-7 average schoolbooks and some notebooks. It can also be used for a weekend getaway and can handle a couple of pairs of jeans, and some shorts and some polo or t-shirts. I have rarely left the house without this backpack at full capacity since I constantly have to be on the go. There has been an issue with the lack of padding on the bottom and I can assure you, it has padding and while it may not be an inch thick, it is like the usual laptop backpacks out there. I would definitely not recommend throwing it or dropping it on a hard surface but regardless of how much padding there is, who would do that with a laptop inside? I have grabbed, pulled, thrown and stretched it and barring a scratch or loose thread here or there, it is in as good a shape as when I purchased it. I am going to purchase another one for future use. Buy it, you won't be sorry. 5Best Packpack, Ever! Still in great condition after a few years on non stop hauling just about everything you can think of in it. There are more pockets than anyone could ever use, plus it's very padded where a notebook/ laptop and tablet fit, with room to spare. It makes a great carry on and has the compartment in the back for things like passports, wallets etc,... where basically no one can access anything as long you are actually wearing. It. On top of being able to carry a largish laptop and tablet, books, clothes, accessories, cellphone, iPod, ...there are many other storage areas that definitely don't go to waste or end up tearing or fraying. The only thing starting to show wear on mine is whatever that black material in the very front, but given it's age and heavy use, it's expected. I know iwhen I eventually need another back back, if this is still available, I will definitely purchase again. 5This is literally the best backpack I have ever owned This is literally the best backpack I have ever owned. That is saying a lot because I consider myself a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to bags. I ve been carrying it about a month now and I have absolutely no complaints! It carries my iPad, two work laptops, a binder, a spiral notebook, my makeup bag, lotions and perfumes, school supplies, and all my other crap perfectly fine. Also, for being such a well-built backpack it s very light so carrying all that stuff doesn t make my back miserable. I can fit just about everything in it and the pockets are much larger than they appear, especially on the sides. Seriously, if you want a backpack that is well built and can conceal all your crap, this is the backpack for you. Seriously. Do it. Click that Buy Now With One Click button. You know you want to.**Update one year later**THIS IS STILL the best backpack ever. I had some chocolate melt in it and had to wash it - and it held up great! I have used it every day for nearly a year and it is still in great shape with barely any visible wear - and I've been pretty rough on it! 5Excellent. Will buy another. I travel internationally for work in very rough environments. I've used this backpack for 4 years now. I've taken this backpack on dozens of flights, including some in areas they just throw the luggage out on the gravel. I have carried an HP 17.3" laptop and a 11.3" Windows tablet throughout this time. I especially like the document compartment for passports and such that hides on the back. It has plenty of compartments and space and is well organized. I have sometimes added clothing to use it for an overnight bag as well. It is finally showing some wear after 4 years of hard usage, I couldn't expect better and will replace with the same model. 5Great Bag For Business or Believe it or not Hiking Overview:Durable bag with lots of compartments and space but some flaking of plastic.Pros:Compartments: It's easy to keep organized with various pockets I am able to keep virtually everything I need from documents to laptop and headsphonesComfort: I find this bag comfortable to hall around from in any environment from treking around for work or hiking while camping this is my go to bagDurability: Overall the bag is pretty durable considering I use if everyday and even for camping. I had one for 1.5 years before I felt I need another.Cons:Flaking: If you look at the phone you'll notice that surrounding the front zip there is some shinny plastic material. Over time and use it flakes off making it look a bit ratty. As I use this as a business laptop case I replaced my after a year and a bit. 5Excellent Alternative to SwissGear I had a SwissGear backpack for a long time, and I loved it; it was roomy, comfortable... I only had to add a chest strap. However, when the zipper on one of the compartments went bad, It was time to get a new backpack. I searched a lot, and all of the SwissGear's were out of my price range for to get the same feature-set. When it came down to it, I decided to get this RBP-117. I love this backpack. It is definitely just a roomy as my old SwissGear, but the prize is the lower-compartment that rests on the lower back. I put my EC Technology Portable Charger Power Bank there and use it to charge my phone when I'm on the go (I travel a lot for work). Great backpack, 5/5! 5
