Small magnetic beast sticks in the car dashboard like an octopus I was really surprised with the suction cup, it was the first one I have used that really works in irregular surfaces. I am using for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and the magnets are powerful enough to keep it secure. It was not necessary to attach the supplied metal plate, I just inserted it between the case and the phone body. I have a Spigen plastic case, not sure if it will work with other materials or thickness.The magnets (they are 4) are strong enough to keep both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in place. I live in South Florida, the roads here are very well maintained, there are no hills, the curves are very smooth in general and I do not go to dirt roads. Also take into account that I have not removed the unit since I placed it. I have not tested the suction cup power by removing and placing it again in another place.Lastly, the unit is very small compared to others I have had and tried. 5WizGear Universal Magnetic Car mount a good try. That's not the case with this magnetic car mount. I have a Nexus 6 with Body Glove case. The rectangular very thin piece of metal fits well between phone and case and it holds well to the magnetic magnetic mount on the windshield. My Tundra doesn't have any flat enough place to mount anywhere but the windshield. I was a bit skeptical at first driving down the highway but it held, then really skeptical when on a rough non-paved, washboard, rocky road. It held. Only on the roughest of the road did the phone slip just a bit. I suspect if I was to use the round piece of metal that would stick to the outside of the case it would hold even tighter. It's not at all a struggle to get the phone off the magnetic mount. I will be buying more of this product for other vehicles. 5Great Product, Great Price, Very easy to use. I was skeptical of a magnetic mount. I was worried about it falling off while I was off-roading in my Jeep. A friend of mine has the same mount and highly recommended it so I ordered it and am extremely happy. I have an iphone 7 plus and this mount holds it perfectly on and off the trail. In the past I have had phone specific or universal mounts that inevitably break. Not sure that would ever happen with this phone because of the fact that there are no parts grabbing on to the phone or that need to be opened or closed. Makes taking the phone off and putting it on nice and easy and swiveling is simple as well. The mounting system for the base is phenomenal. It mounts to my textured dash in my Jeep Wrangler JK. I also like that I have the ability to turn the magnet around for different mounting options.Would be 5 stars if it came with more back plates. It came with 1 small circle plate with adhesive and 1 bigger rectangle plate without adhesive. Having a big phone I need a bigger plate. The non-adhesive plate just slides around between my phone and my case so I am currently using the smaller circle in hopes of receiving the rectangle adhesive plate from the seller. 4Easy and secure, but struggles to hold up a heavier phone I have large phone (LG G3) that is in a protective case. It's a little heavy for the car mount, which tends to droop if I don't place the phone in the right way. Otherwise, it's a great mount. Very easy to install on the dashboard, and very secure. Very easy to attach the phone when I get in the car and then grab it and go when I'm getting out, since I don't have to wrestle with a clamp. I placed the magnet in between my phone and its case, so I didn't even have to use the adhesive, meaning no goop on my phone and easy to move it to another device if I need to. I was worried about what a magnet might do to my phone, but have had no problems at all. I have an older car with a newer stereo, so now I can use my phone for a GPS and for streaming audio via Bluetooth. 4Design needs tweaks Very dissappointed in this item. It does not mount very weell in my truck. It also doesnt work well with my phone in that my phone is too heavy for the mount as it is pictured. Flipping the mound gives i the right balance but the cord on the phone gets pinched slightly. Future design on this product should address that issue and the sticky issue.I like wizgear in general and will look for a different mount for my truck. Unfortunately I cant use the vent mounts as my vents just arent big enough to accomodate a phone in front (and still push air like I want). 1Absolutely Love This Magnetic Mobile Phone Holder! I have a 2006 Acura TL and behind the steering wheel it has 3 circular gauges - speedometer, gas gauge and temperature with on board computer, info and a tachometer on the far left. I've mounted my holder on the plastic that covers the tachometer, as the car is an automatic and I never use the manual shift mode, so the tachometer is really of no use.Pros:I mounted it about a week ago and it hasn't come off yet.The magnet holds my Samsung S5 well too - hasn't dropped it once on bumpy Chicago roads.The holder is short enough so that I can mount it on a gauge behind my steering wheel without getting in the way.Installation was ridiculously simple. I popped the back cover off my phone, rested the rectangular piece of metal over the battery, and reattached the back cover.Cons:The rotation of the magnetic piece is slightly infringed by the arm.Summary:One week in, this product works exactly as advertised, most importantly never drops my phone, and is a great value at $14. No falling, no slipping or sliding. Best of all is the magnetic mount which allows you to pull the phone off the mount for things like...well, phone calls. I'm driving Lyft and it its invaluable for changing addresses, checking mileage, etc.Great design and great craftmanship. 5Low profile (good), weak joint (bad) Pros: low profile, windshield or dashboard compatible, tightening mechanism on jointCons: weak joint, suction cup eventually meltedDecided to buy this back in 2015 due to its low-profile design. Ultimately left this attached to the windshield over the years.The joint has a knob that can be used to tighten it. I didn t think my phone was heavy at the time (iPhone 6, Incipio Dualpro case) but the phone would angle downward within a few minutes. This was especially true during hot days. The joint has a tightening mechanism which would help but it would loosen over time during the summer. Also the part that magnetically attaches to the phone rotates clockwise/counterclockwise so my phone would end up at weird angles during my drive.I usually have my car in the garage but I have been keeping it outside this year. Eventually, the rubber suction cup melted and eventually fell off. This left a greenish brown sticky residue on my windshield and dashboard. This might be common to most suction cup mounts and not really a manufacturer issue.Also with most magnetic mounts comes ametal plate. This comes with two that you can either put inside your phone case or attach to the outside. Unfortunately, these plates can leave a slight bump on your phone while it s inside (despite being a millimeter or two thick). The magnet itself is decent and held my phone fine. Thicker phone cases might have a problem.Overall, decent low-profile suction magnetic car mount. Best to use with lighter phones and in colder climates year-round.Its been three years so if it fell off without leaving the residue, I would have given a higher rating. Now I have to clean it off the windshield and dashboard without damaging them. I eventually bought the WizGear Universal Twist-lock Air Vent Mount (low profile, stronger joints, stronger magnet). 2Great Item at a Great Price I purchased the a similar item to the Car Mount by WizGear, from another manufacture initially and loved it so much but hated moving it from my truck to my car and to my boat. I bought this one for the price! I noticed some people complain that it breaks and that probably is true but so does a brand new car if you miss use it! If you follow the manufactures directions you will have no breakage problems. make sure surfaces are clean and that you dont have to much build up on the sticky surface.The only advantage that the other one has is it has more of a suction cup effect where this one appears to rely more heavily on the stickiness. This is however advantageous if you are using it on a surface that is not a flat sheet of glass. 5
