Customer Reviews

Good for the price I would have given this three stars, but for the price, I think this is a good product. I bought to cut 1/16 aircraft cable. It works, but you have to be really careful to not get a frayed edge. You can do it, but it's nothing like the ones they have at the home improvement stores when you get it cut there. However, Once I got the hang of it, I was able to get a clean enough cut to thread through the little clampy thing, which was really all I needed. I sometimes had to cut away a could of individual strands that were frayed, but it did work. 4Does not stay sharp long at all. Very disappointing - I used this wire cutter in the course of rebuilding one mountain bike. I made about a dozen cuts of bicycle brake and shifter cables with it. By the end of the day it was unable to make a clean cut. This tool is made of metal too mild to hold an edge. If you need a tool that will last look elsewhere. 1Pretty good tool I got it to cut some steel wire for a project. I was a bit skeptical, due to the price and size, but my expectations were exceeded. It cleanly cut through the 1/8'' 7x7 steel wire w/o fraying it. It easily went through the ferrules. I didn't even have to wiggle the cable to get it in.I don't know how long it will last but for me it did its job. I only needed it for a small project. If I'll need it in the future and it stops cutting I will update my review. 5Does the job and the price is right. We were doing a cable railing project which required about 200 cuts of 1/8" stainless steel cable - didn't want to spend the money to buy the expensive cutter as we won't be using it again. Found this pair on Amazon with an ok reviews - but we took our chance and ordered them anyway as the price is very reasonable - we figured even if it became dull after 100 cuts we can buy another one. This turned out not to be necessary and the one pair completed the job beautifully. Clean cut on the wire and after 200 cuts it still very sharp. Highly recommend this item. 5Absolutely perfect as a cheap alternative to cycling cable cutters I'm the type of cyclist that will build a several thousand dollar bike but cringe at the prices for most cycling specific tools. Almost all of it is marked up absurdly high for no other reason than cycling is still a niche sport.I needed to replace my Park Tool cutters and came across these in a suggested area by Amazon.Other than the fact these showed up a little scratched up, their cutting ability is absolutely as advertised. I absolutely recommend these!Thoughts:1. I know most of you are buying these for thicker cabling. So, I did venture out to the garage and cut various thicknesses of cabling. I can confirm these handle what they claim to.2. Build quality is solid.3. My only real nit with these is that when you open them up all the way, if you don't have very large hands as I do, you're going to struggle with getting your hand around them in the wide open stance. In sum, these are absurdly cheap for what you get. They are more than worth the price and perform as claimed. Buy them.Cheers! 5Works well and the cable does not get frayed.... Have only made a few cuts so far, but it went right through this 1/8" cable with no problem. This video is me cutting it with one hand while I held my phone to video this. 5Cal Hawk Tools CPLWC8 7.5" Steel Wire Cutter I decided to take a chance on this cutter due to the price. There is a different once with a few more cutting holes and that pin to center the cut cables. I decided to get this once because I changed one of my derailleur cables on my bike. So far they cut fine. The cable is not that thick so I didn't think it would be a problem. I did have to test it with the old cable on my desk before I tried it on the bike though. It cut without any problem. It was the lowest priced one I could find and it works so I'm happy. Keep in mind that you can't cut too thick of a cable as these only open a small amount. Maybe about as thick network cable or a bit more, but that's all. It did take a while to get to me, but it did make it here. Tracking was useless. Never showed anything. Again, other than that, it worked fine for me. 5Great price for a solid product I have used it to make about 40 cuts in 1/8th in stainless wire I am installing on my deck. It takes a bit of strong grip to get it to cut but it appears to stay sharp and do the job well, especially for the low price. I'm not sure that they would stand the test of time if used constantly/professionally. 4mortal tools These worked great on 1/8" ss cable for the first 50 cuts. Then the latch holding the jaws closed broke, no great loss but they're always open in the tool bag, grabbing fingers and other tools. The next 20 cuts were much more effort and the cut began to be ragged. The last 10 cuts were difficult and left ragged edges that were difficult to insert into the swage socket. So if you have a small project, these rock. If you want a tool that will still be working for the next generation, spend a bit more money. 3Works great, Don't Spend More. Works great, don't know why you'd spend more. Only question surrounds the warranty. Almost all hand tools purchased from brick and mortar stores(even Harbor Freight) come with no-questions-asked lifetime warranties. What happens to this when in breaks?I use it to cut bicycle brake and shifter cable. For this purpose, it works flawlessly. Cuts quick and clean.Overall very happy, I'm of the opinion that most of these are made in the same factory and that brand name, not quality, dictate price.***My Rating Criteria***5 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product AND it is a good value4 Stars: Works exactly as advertised, fit/finish are what you'd expect when purchasing this type of product, might have a minor flaw3 Stars: Generally works but I'd change a few things OR Product works great but differs from description/images2 Stars: Barely works but can be made useful if you try1 Star: Useless, does not perform it's intended function whatsoever and is generally a waste of money 5
