Works perfectly!! Prompt shipping and heck of a value. I ended up purchasing two POE Switch units for my home security camera install. These units work flawless with the Reolink NVR and cameras. I have a 16 camera NVR and a 8 camera NVR, working together and these support my network perfectly. I couldn't be happier.I did later "upgrade" to another of their units (Gigabit 4 port) for my farthest distance from the router. I now use this 8ch unit in my home for a remote location supporting external cameras. 5Great when they work.. But it will probably die So ive used 3 of this brand POE switches. When they work, they work great. Fast. Quiet and convenient indicator lights as many brands have.However, it seems that the power supply in all of them happens to be the same outsourced brand and after a few month's in every unit they have failed. I didn't even use all the ports or over load it on any of the units 8 port or 16 port. Frankly id have hoped some sort of protection circuit would be in place in case I did or a wire got shorted anyway but that was not the case regardless.Anyway I contacted the company to find out if the power supplies could be purchased or better yet given to me since they were obviously a major fault but neither was an option and frankly for the price of them it just wasnt worth paying to send them in even under warranty and have to wait to get them back. For anyone with issues, just go buy a boost power supply from eBay. Set it to 53 volts and then you can plug in any voltage power supply you want and it will reliably run the unit. 2Great switch! This is a very well made and sturdy switch. I use this one on my home security cameras and I've had no problems whatsoever. It was very easy to install and is very easy to use. If you're looking for a small, well built POE switch, this is the one. 5It's nice that the unit has a self contained power source I used to centralize my connections for my security cameras to my attic. I'm currently running 7 cameras to this switch and it works well for that. It's nice that the unit has a self contained power source, so no separate DC power brick to worry about.I like the fact that I can connect up to 8 devices and still have a dedicated uplink port to connect up to my router. 5Good while it lasted I bought this BV-Tech POE switch to power some cameras, and it worked flawlessly for five months, then it had a failure. The cameras plugged in to the BV-Tech still get power, but the network part of the switch has failed. I swapped it with a TP Link POE switch and everything worked properly. After that, I swapped back to the BV-Tech switch, and the network part of the switch still does not operate, proving that my cables, cameras and network are not the problem. It was great while it lasted, the bad news is that is only five months. 1Works with Logitech Cameras I bought this switch because of its spec - 120 total watts, all 8 ports are POE capable, no fan (for attic installation where having a fan is probably worse) and made in Taiwan (preferred over plain China). Will be using it with at least 6 Logitech exterior cameras. Did a one week stress test to verify that all components work together. Here is my result (passed).About the switch:There are 2 components - the switch itself and a power brick. The switch is very compact and light, no moving parts. It is made in Taiwan. The power brick is similar to ones used for larger notebooks. It is made in China.The ports:There are 8. If you use one for the uplink (most applications need an uplink), then you only have 7 ports for your POE devices. Not a problem, but please plan ahead.Hook up:There is no on/off switch. Plugging the power supply in turns the switch on. I recommend doing this first, then connect the POE devices one at a time. I did tried plugging-in/unplugging the power supply with all POE devices connected. There was no problem.Power consumption:I connected 6 Logitech cameras to the switch. At full load, with all cameras booting at the same time and infra on (they turn on during boot), cameras+switch used around 50w (kill-a-watt). With the infra off, cameras+switch used around 35w. For these reasons, I was not able to verify the 120w output claim.Heat dissipation:The switch was never even warm. The cameras did get HOT, but survived the test. The power brick was more of interest because it will be in a VERY HOT attic. It was normally warm. To stress test, I wrapped it in a towel and put all cameras in a dark room to triggered the infra. In a few hours, the brick got quite hot, but not bad. Left it that way for a day. Conclusion is that it should survive my attic.In all, very satisfied. I did encountered a problem which was diagnosed to be a camera issue, not the switch's. Basically, 1 of the cameras rebooted itself whenever I connected to it using the Logitech software. I blamed the switch at first, but eventually fixed the problem by removing the SD card from the camera and reformatted it, put it back, then upgraded the firmware. Camera seemed stable now. 5Fabulous deal! Excellent switch. Had it hooked up a few days and it works really well.I don't know where I read it, but in one of the reviews for this product someone stated that if yo use the uplink port, you lose use of one of the other 8. This is 100% untrue. Technically this is a 9 port switch with 8 PoE ports. I currently have all 9 in use, and all devices work great! 5Dump wifi and use poe I have done dozens of IP cam security systems and I have settled on a simple formula. After years installing and replacing turn key systems that all ultimately fail or become obsolete, and after years of installing cheap chinese IP cams that have abysmal software, poor support, unreliable wifi connection, I have landed on a stable design that I really like. I still use the cheap Chinese cameras on amazon, many work very well as a piece of hardware supplying input to my system. My system is a non managed POE switch because - well- it does not need any programming. It supplies power to the camera and collects the video data in IP form which goes to a dedicated PC. I use a dedicated PC because: it is cheap, industry standard, very reliable and runs a great piece of software: I use Blue Iris. 99% of the work is in stringing the ethernet cable to your cameras. The cameras are easily replaceable commodities when they fail. The PC and Blue Iris get regular online updates from the providers. Hardwired is infinitely more reliable than wifi - which is a big deal when you are away and your IP cams lose their wifi connection because of a power failure or any number of reasons. And, if you are running 10 cameras at high resolution, it will saturate your wifi channels which means all the other wifi devices in your house will be impacted. Using hardware from camera to switch to computer keeps all this traffic on the local network. The pc however will need a connection to the internet to talk to Blue Iris occasionally or to give access outside your firewall. But, this communication is between your pc and Blue Iris. There are tons of problems people are having with the chinese sw that comes with their cameras contacting their vendors in China. Bottom line - do not use the chinese camera software! The camera's firmware may try to connect to the internet but it will not make it because your PC and your router will make it nearly impossible. 5Power works. thats about it. if all you need is your cameras to turn on this serves its purpose. I had all of my POE cameras (all amcrest branded) hooked up to this POE switch and they all powered on. But I also have all of these hooked up to an Amcrest NVR to record. And every single camera not plugged into this switch works perfectly fine. Every camera on this switch however, the video feeds loading off my NVR all look like a video loading on 56k internet....i mean slow choppy video that continually pauses/freezes then jumps ahead multiple seconds at a time. Or sometimes my video feed playing at regular speed looks like a fast forwarded video. Functionally the power works but something is preventing the feeds from transmitting properly through this device. I have already tried a different brand of POE switch and it has resolved 90% of my issues. So if you have an NVR don't waste your money on this. 1and it has worked great for the most part I've had this switch in service for close to a year now, and it has worked great for the most part. I do have what appear to be a couple dead ports that will provide L2 connectivity but not POE. I am still giving the switch 4 stars because these ports were originally connected to cameras mounted outdoors, so I'm not ruling out that faulty grounding or nearby lightning strikes were actually the cause of this. 4
