Customer Reviews

Best bang for the buck! I did a thorough research before my choice fell on the bushnell H2O 8x25 binoculars. It's a real jungle out there when you're looking for compact binoculars that has areasonable pricetag on them. In my case though, there were some things that were"must have" features;1: Bak-4 prisms2: Multi coated lenses3: Waterproof/waterprotected/nitrogenfilled4: Adjustable eyesockets5: 8x25 magnification/dia with wide angle field of viewThe need for bak-4 prisms were a really good choice. In one go you have sorted outalmost all of the really cheap and garbage binoculars out there. You really can'tget a binocular that has bak-4 prisms for nothing. So with my other features in mindi went looking on all of the major sites around the world. I had about eight differentbinoculars to choose from when my search was over. There were Nikon, Silva, Bushnelland so on...Several of them had almost identical features but in the end there was one that stoodout. Price versus specs was simply to hard to beat on the Bushnell. And I got it for areal steal at 40 pounds with tax and delivery to sweden included. I must say that I wasa bit sceptical because a comparable binocular goes for about 90-110 pounds in sweden. My worries were totally without ground though..! An absolute fantastic little binocularfor the price. And the quality-feel were absolutely great also. You can never compare acompact binocular with a larger one in terms of sensitivity and so on but this is a reallygood one in it's class. I later have had the opportunity to test all of the other eightones in my research. But this is up at the top, maybe on second place but the price on thebetter one is more than doubleup. The Bushnell has great clarity, very easy to adjust, very high quality on the housing, good portability for a W-Proof binocular and all of thereally important features a compact binocular should have. I would reallyrecommend you to buy this binocular. If you want a binocular with higher clarity/sensitivityyou shold go for a bigger binocular, there's no need to go for a better compact one. Period! 5Great value for the price. Like these a lot. They are compact and make good bird-watching or hunting binoculars. There is a small amount of chromatic aberration at the outer edges of the field of view. It is not enough to be bothersome, but it is noticeable. There is always a tradeoff in quality in a lower-priced lens. It is acceptable for the price. Anything better than this binocular will likely be in the $200+ range. 4Great magnification and Perfect size I bought these for my dad on his birthday after we went on a family excursion to British Columbia to spend time and watch sea birds together. Three of us, one pair of good binocs, one pair that most likely once belonged to some distant, long-deceased relative. You do the math. While he has some incredible binoculars that cost an arm and a leg, they are heavy and somewhat inconvenient. He slips these in his man-bag now when he travels. They are phenomenal. I will be purchasing a pair prior to my next visit home. 5It's small enough to easily be thrown into a pack I wanted an inexpensive weatherproof pair of binoculars for travel and these fit the bill well. The 8x zoom was enough as most of the times we use it, we're on the move, or on something that's moving, so the "hand shaking" while holding doesn't effect the image. It also provides a wide field of view than the x10. It's small enough to easily be thrown into a pack. Unless you have large pockets, it wouldn't fit very comfortable. Maybe cargo pockets. The case is pretty form fitting. I have the strap attached to it and the case just protecting the actual binoculars and the strap outside of the case. Not sure if it'll fit in the case along with the binoculars. It also comes with a small microfiber lens cleaning cloth. Not the most clear optics, but for the price, it works well. 4Great Compact Travel Binoculars These Bushnell 138005 8 x 25mm binoculars are perfect for travelling. They are very compact and fold to quite a small size which enables me to permanently keep them tucked into the inner pocket of my carry on travel bag. I recently used these on a cruise and found the clarity excellent and I had no issues with fogging but (fortunately) have not yet had any occasion to investigate the waterproof claim. They are easy to adjust and comfortable to hold for extended periods (I like the texturized rubber surface). Focus is fast and sure and the 8x magnification is more than sufficient for all my needs.I shopped extensively for binoculars before committing to these, and I am thrilled with my purchase. These are a great value. 5Good to go I noticed that these reviews are missing pictures, so I attached some here. As you can see, these are nice and compact (dollar bill for size comparison in pictures), very lightweight, and seem durable. They don't unfold easily, which I like... you don't want the thing folding and unfolding while you're trying to look through them. Also included is a strap, case, lens cleaner, and manual. The strap and case are not top of the line or anything. but they get the job done. As described, the eyecups twist up and down - I included a picture of one eyecup fully extended, the other twisted all the way down.Supposedly, porro prism binos are inherently brighter than roof prism binos. I don't have a set of 8x25 porro prisms to compare these to, so I can't say for sure. I can say that these give a nice, bight, crisp image.Disclaimer, I'm not a bird watcher or any kind of expert on binoculars. This is my first set that I wanted for hiking and hunting. This is a 5-star rating not because they're the most amazing binos on the market, but because they get the job done for a great price. If you're looking for small set of rugged binos, this is a good bet. 5Good little pair of travel binocs. Ordered these for a trip to Yellowstone. Of the two travel pairs we bought for the trip (other was Merytes 10x25 Portable Hi-def) everyone in the family reached for these first. The Merytes weren't bad; the Bushnells were just better. They are lightweight, compact, easy to carry and adjust, with sharp optics and they just feel good in your hands. 5Clear, compact, amazing but diopter hard to adjust Bought these for a trip and im satisfied with the performance--as long as I don't compare em with my brothers legend ultra HD 10x42, that is. Otherwise, i am frequently surprised and amazed about how I could see and notice so many distant objects with these that I normally wouldn't with the naked eye.ProsI love the compact and grippy design which keeps it light so I can just hang em on my neck and forget I'm wearing em even in long challenging 3 to 4-hour hikes. Meanwhile, my bro ends up leaving his behind coz his more powerful but heavier and larger binos are just too heavy and burdensome.ConsThe right diopter adjustment is just a bit too tough thus making it a bit difficult to adjust. Sometimes you need to readjust tho other times, it's my eye with the problem coz even without the binos, my eyes are less clear maybe due to astigmatism or dryness. If the adjuster was easier to turn, I'd probably give it 5 stars. When I peer through these, I keep asking how much clearer can it get?? Overall, happy with the purchase. 4Wins out over the 10x magnification I'm leaving this review for those that are undecided between this 8x magnification and the similar Bushnell 10x Magnification. I ordered them both, not knowing which would be better and more practical as a gift even though they are similarly priced. I viewed landscape/objects both fairly close to my property (perhaps 50yds away) and far off in the landscape (perhaps 1/2 mile) and I saw very little in difference in either the magnification or field of view diminishing. But the motion in the 10x was significant. I was able to brace my elbows on my sofa back, but if I was out in the open trying to hold it, I could see the lack of control being annoying. So the 10X went back...since I had to pay return shipping, I thought I'd leave my two cents here for what it's worth. Otherwise, like other reviews, I think they are really well made for a compact binoc and fit fine in the case. Eye cups may not have as much depth as some may like, but I found it OK. As others said, great bang for the buck. 5Ultracompact and relatively inexpensive but the lenses could be better. These are relatively inexpensive waterproof binoculars. They are lightweight and fold into a small case. The strap is adequate for their size and there is good eye relief. They are good enough for a ballgame, or concert (if you are not in the nosebleed section). But they are not terribly sharp, and do not transmit a lot of light for shady situations. There are no protective eye caps on either end, so they must be kept in the case when not in use..If you can use slightly larger binoculars that are not waterproof, the compact Polaris 8x35s provide a better field of vision, have amazing lenses, and are a great buy. But these Bushnells are okay if you want binoculars that can fit in a purse or large pocket. 4
