Customer Reviews

Worked well in cutting through a quartz countertop Needed to install an Instant Hot water heater under my sink that didn't have an existing hole. This is a quartz counter top and this saw made short work of it. Nice clean hole. Bought this with the Bosch Quick Change Mandrel and the combo works perfectly. Definitely recommend for cutting through hard counter surfaces. 5This worked great for drilling 8 holes in porcelain pots in about ... This worked great for drilling 8 holes in porcelain pots in about an hour. I kept the cutting edge submerged in water the entire time, didn't press too hard, and didn't run the drill too fast - about 300 rpm I would guess. I think people have trouble with diamond bits because they expect it to work like a twist drill in steel where, if you go too slowly or use to low a force, the bit gets hot, the part gets hot, the steel gets harder and you have a lot of trouble. With a diamond bit you have to lower your expectation for how long it should take, and keep it wet. The Bosch bit has flutes that continuously pump water to the bottom of the hole. When I finished thee was no sign of wear on the diamond cutting surface. 5Excellent diamond drill bit Perfect diamond drill bit for drilling through porcelain tile to hang a shower door. Slow and easy with water cooling is the key to having the tool last. I had to drill 4 holes and each took about 5 minutes with a cordless drill and a water spray bottle. A drill guide is also recommended; especially for vertical surfaces. 5only brand that cuts stone tile We purchased another brand name hole saw sold at home improvement box stores and they would not work. We wasted hours trying to use a non Diamond hole saw. After reading articles online and how to videos on what best to use to cut stone tile the answer was clear a diamond hole saw. So please do not waste your time trying to use any other brand except Diamond. Again we wasted a whole weekend using non diamond. So in an effort to save you time and running around purchase a diamond hole saw. Remember to have someone hold the hose over the drill and tile to keep the hole saw and drill from getting too hot. 5Reasonably good value The Bosch bit was okay for the price. I used it to drill four holes through concrete (with a water dribble), and although it was slow it got the job done. I could see visible wear on the teeth, so I figure I've used about half its life. My only quibble with these is the arbor with the center starter. You can't drill the hole very deep without hitting the center starter, so I had to drill a pilot hole through the concrete a little larger than the center starter, which was a lot of extra work. It would be better if the center starter was retractable the full depth of the hole saw. 3This bit requires a special center attachment or a 3/4" ... This bit requires a special center attachment or a 3/4" drill bit. No mention of this was made in the listing or on the packaging. 1well thought out design I am very impressed by the whole saw set. I used one of the smaller bits to cut 18 holes in a tiled shower walls to install grab bars. There was no sign of wear on the bit. I used the largest how saw to cut around a shower valve in a tiled wall with no problem. I liked the quick connect feature and the centering bit. I used some one to drill the hole and another person to spray the area with water. You need to drill slow, use light pressure and spray with water. I would highly recommend this set. 5Start on a 45 degree angle to prevent slipping. Wow. Cut through our porcelain tile with ease. Here's how I did it:1. Keep a cup of ice water next to you.2. Insert the bit into the ice water to cool it off.3. Begin drilling on high speed AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE to start the hole.4. Once the bit has started on an angle, tilt the bit slowly to level to cut the rest of the circle.5. Every 5 seconds or so, DIP THE TIP into the ICE WATER, then go back at it with gentle pressure.Drilled six holes in less than 15 minutes PERFECTLY with NO SLIPPAGE to mount a handicap grab bar in the shower.YAY me. :) 5Excellent tool - use in combo with Bosch center mandrel and use ice water for cooling This is an excellent quality tool. I just bored three holes in a 1-1/8" thick scrap of countertop granite to make three recesses that hold glass votive candle holders. I used it in combination with the "Bosch HDGQA Diamond Hole Saw Mandrel with AutoStart" that I purchased with it. Follow Bosch directions, keep the bit wet with water, go slow, don't get too greedy and bore too hard or too long with a cut. Pull back and let the water flow around the bit frequently. Bosch warns that heat is the enemy of the cutting edge. If you search online, you will find advice to make a little dam out of plumber's putty around the hole to be drilled and fill it with water. That works well, but the water forms a slurry with the granite dust and can get flung outwardly. Roll up a couple of towels and surround the bit with them and they will catch the slop. One more thing, besides having water in my pool, I also had a paper bowl with crushed ice in it handy nearby, and I put crushed ice in the pool. It stayed underneath the cup of the bit as it cut, constantly melting and replenishing the pool with ice cold water. I added ice a couple of times during a cut. When I finished a hole, the cutting edge of the tool was stone cold. Didn't dull a bit after three cuts. I do have a drill press that I used, but it probably can be done with a hand drill. The three center cores came out so clean, we need to find something to use them for as well. Rubbed in a little olive oil on the cut side edges and they almost look polished. Granite fab places wanted $75/hole to do this, so the cost of combo of the two pieces already paid 3X over. Wife is very impressed with her b'day present. 5Worked Great I had to core a 2-1/4" hold through a brick wall. No place locally had a 2-1/4" hole saw suitable for the task, so I ordered this one. It worked wonderfully. It cut a nice, clean hole through the brick. Due to space constraints I could not use water for cooling or lubrication, but found neither to be necessary. The hole saw never seemed to get hot, and I would remove it and clean out the swarf after every 1/4" or so. It took a bit of time, as the hole I had to core was actually deeper than the bit, but by breaking out the cut pieces as I went it was not an issue. 5
