Customer Reviews

Works great, especially if you don't turn the light off when you set it in the cradle. Bought these mostly for the motion detection. We have a 7 y/o ninja who sometimes wakes up and sneaks around the house. This can create a little anxiety when the adults want to talk about mature topics. Putting this in the hallway provides both a safety light as well as an "alarm" system so we know if someone is being sneaky. When I first installed the lights, I would push the button to turn it off when I set it in the cradle. THIS DEACTIVATES THE MOTION SENSOR!!! After a few days of wondering why the motion sensor wasn't working I set to testing a few things and realized the error of my ways. The are great for power outages and so you don't stub your toe walking down the hall without having to turn on the big overhead light. 5Want a light that NASA can see? I purchased this to replace a model no longer available.Ok, this works as described. Plug it in and it s a motion sensor light. Power goes out and it turns on automatically. What it also does is emit a light so bright that it will shine into the neighbors windows. This light blinded me the first time it automatically came on and I almost busted down the stairs.I told my husband but he didn t believe me. Until he walked by the light at 4 am and yelled out obscenities while waking the rest of us still asleep.I can compare the lumens with the sun. Yes. With the damn sun. It literally lights up my second floor plus the entire stairway while lighting up my neighbors bedroom. If you plug one into every outlet in your house, NASA will think they have discovered another planet. But if you do use more than one, please make sure you are wearing eye protection.I tried to take a picture but all that shown was a brightly lit screen. If you need something to replace lighthouse lanterns, this is the light for you.Want to direct air traffic? I highly recommend this light.Put one in every window of your house on Christmas Eve so you can assure the kids that Santa won t miss your house. Neither will the satellites in orbit. 5Great Emergency light! I had a power failure in my bathroom in July that lasted for a week. The plug in my bathroom did not work. I charged these lights, and then I plugged the light into my bathroom socket (which was dead), to give me the best light in the bathroom in order to use the sink and toilet during the night. I took a lantern in the bathroom for my showers for extra light. But these lights were perfect because I do not have a lot of counter space in this small bath, and so plugging this light into the wall was the best way to use the light. When the light died, I would replace it with another plug in emergency light, but it did not throw the same amount of light. I hope to order more of these, and more for my family. I highly recommend these as emergency night lights and as a portable flashlight that is convenient when the power fails. 5These seem like good emergency lights, but only time will tell. We purchased a set of 3 of these to replace similar units we had bought over 5 years ago which had mostly lost the ability to hold a charge. Those units were not longer available, so we found these as they have a similar capability. We purchased the previous units and these to provide lighting immediately if the power fails. We do not need any night lights, so I cannot comment on that aspect of these units. The base portion (cradle) plugs into an open outlet. The blades (officially, pins) are not polarized (with one wider pin), so the base portion will face up when plugged in, regardless of whether or not the receptacle ground contact is on the upper or lower side of the power contacts. While it is not required by the NEC in the past, NECA now requires that the receptacle be oriented with the ground contacts on top. In either case, if this unit is plugged into the upper set of contacts on a duplex receptacle, the lower set of contacts will still be available for plugging in another device. The light portion of the unit may be switched off so that it does not act as a night light that comes on when motion is sensed. The "flashlight" has two modes, one activating the LEDs facing as in the picture, and another activating LEDs on the end, so it may be used light a flashlight. The light from both of these seems to be adequate to get around in the dark. The most important aspect of any emergency light, however, is reliability. When we lost power in the past, our older units always came on and lasted about 5 hours. I can't test the capability of these newer lights. Any emergency light needs to be tested periodically to see if it is still charging. These newer lights do NOT have an indicator light to verify that it is charging, so you just have to remove it from the cradle periodically. Recent testing of the older units indicated that they were not charging, which is why we purchased these. I pulled a star because of this.I have one additional caution. Any device like these that depends upon the receptacle contacts to support it appropriately can become a problem if the receptacle contacts are not tight enough. In our case, we plugged one of these into an older, heavily used outlet and it sagged in the receptacle. This not only risks losing proper contact for charging, but also exposes the bare pins which could be accidentally touched, producing a shock. I had to replace this receptacle with a newer one.Until I find some problem with these, we will continue to use these and trust that they will provide the light we need to respond to a power outage at night. 4The charging base stayed in the wall socket better than I expected and the light is bright enough ... Overall the Avalon LED Emergency Flashlight works as advertised. The charging base stayed in the wall socket better than I expected and the light is bright enough for emergency use. It's not as bright as some of my high intensity flashlights, but it's not intended for the same purposes. My one con is that it can be too bright to use as a night light. I have it in my bathroom and if it comes on when you are facing it in a darkened room, it can be blinding. Fortunately the wireless charging stand will accept the flashlight either direction so I turned it around so the motion sensor can't detect movement. I would have liked it better if there was a dim nightlight mode.Otherwise construction and usefulness seems quite good. 4Avoid this light. Did not hold up. Both units failed after about 6 months and both were in areas where they were not used a lot. The failure involved the motion sensor. I wrote the company and asked about warranty, but they never responded. Would avoid this company and product and look elsewhere. 1It works just like it s advertised. I don t have a reason not to like them. They work just as described in the ad. Power goes out, they come on. I placed one in the garage and the motion sensor doesn t hesitate to turn the light on when in. The one in the bathroom we turned around to face the wall. The unit will light up the room very well (a little too well first thing in the morning for me), but even with the unit facing the wall I could see we ll enough to move around safely. I actually bought these due to our bathrooms not having any natural light, and didn t want to exit a dark wet shower during a power outage(see attached photos. the light is facing the wall and illuminating the room!). I like the product and would recommend it. 5These are the best nightlights I have ever owned These are the best nightlights I have ever owned. When the nightlight is on, it throws enough light to light up an entire room, not just a small circle on the floor like most nightlights with this feature. They consist of two parts - the nightlight unit and the holder/charger. The nightlight unit itself consists of 15 bright white LEDs. IN the dark, the unit remains off until it senses motion. Then the lights come on and stay on for as long as motion is detected, with a minimum of 15 seconds. You can remove the unit from the holder (which plugs into an outlet and holds the nightlight unit). If the electricity to the house shuts off when it is dark out, the unit turns on and stays on until power is restored or you turn it off manually. You can lift the unit out of the holder to use as a flashlight. There is a three position switch on the unit that allows you to switch between the 15 LED nightlight, a 5 LED flashlight built into the end of the unit or both off. In an emergency, the nightlight is much brighter, but I imagine it will drain the battery faster than the flashlight, so take your pick. The flashlight won't light up your backyard, but it will get you down the hallway. The shell is made of white and silver plastic, but they look expensive. The rounded shape fits nicely in my hand. I'm very pleased with this purchase. 5LEDs don't last long. This product would receive 5-stars from me, were it not for several "burned-out" led lights. I have had this product for nearly a year, and it has been a wonderful hallway night-light and flashlight of convenience in that time. However, during the first year, 6 of the 30 leds in the "night-light" array have ceased working. While it still is sufficient to illuminate the area at night, it looks to be a sign of things to come. Looks like some more market-testing and product repair are warranted before this product can be truly counted on. 3Not working correctly after only 6 weeks After using this light for less than 2 months I must change my rating from a 5 to a 1. It is very bright and I really liked it until it started coming on all night long! Empty room, no movement but it s coming on every minute all night long! Feel like I have a strobe light in my hallway. I no longer recommend this product if it only works correctly for 6 weeks. 1
