Customer Reviews

Bought used; came busted Bought the used version, which was about 13 bucks cheaper than the new version. It came nasty dirty, the top right screw hole is totally busted open, and it's missing the nuts shown in the picture to fasten wires to it. Don't buy these used folks, it's not worth it. 1Excellent overload and current interrupt protection Replaced a very old breaker that mounted through a square hole. A 2 1/8" bit provided the round contour needed and the 187 face covered the square hole perfectly. The yellow trip/switch arm is not easily moved, but it was still a choice between accidentally bumping into this one in a downward motion or bumping directly into the little red button on the other Blue Sea Systems DC breaker. I bought both and neither scenario seems unlikely.Current interrupt protection is 5000A at 14VDC, which is needed when connected directly to a large starting battery (lesser fuses could carry a fault load through a sustained arc). Also from the data sheet are overload ratings: 300% for 5 seconds, 200% at 10 seconds. 5Excellent, as expected. I love all the bluesea stuff I've used, and this is no exception. I use this stuff in cars, not boats, but it seems just as at home here.In this particular application, I was setting up my camping van for a trip to Alaska during the spring time, and with projected temperatures in the single digits (farenheit). The van wasn't totally finished, but I added two extra marine batteries (in addition to the two stock van batteries), and added a blue sea fuse block in the passenger area, and wired up so I'd have electrical heat. This circuit breaker is in a temporary location, strapped to the front bumper of the van, and protecting a 1GA wire that runs about 15 feet to the back of the van. This breaker spent 8000 miles of driving, up on the front bumper, out in the elements, handling winds from driving 70-80mph, rain, sleet, snow, hail, dirt, dust, bugs, etc. The thing looks as good as new, and didn't incorrectly trip once (I do need to do a test to make sure it still will trip, but I don't have any reason to suspect it would fail that).I'm soon going to mount it in a more sheltered location, for the permanent install, but am glad that it served in it's temporary installation so well. 4Great for automotive too. Used this instead of a fuse for an auxiliary fuse block that I added to my Jeep. Used a Blue Sea fuse block and was impressed by the quality, so I got their circuit breaker too. Good quality unit, the rubber caps for the studs are a nice touch. The best feature is the red button that lets you manually trip the breaker. Intended for marine applications, have had no issues with it on my Jeep for the past year, and can't imagine I ever will. 5Well worth the money...GREAT DC breaker LOVE this breaker...been running it for 8 months now.Good:- Build heavy duty- Strong lugs- Non-directional- Strong guts- Looks cool in my system- Good up to 48v- Built to last forever...Not so good:- Price is a little high- Mounting hole in between lugs is slightly angled- Not sure if it will work over 48v for those with 48v battery banksUsing this with my solar power battery bank and inverter. The inverter charges the batteries and also draws power from the batteries. So, this circuit breaker has to work both ways...this one works. 5Quality materials! Fantastic high quality circuit breaker that will stand the test of time! I don't know what they put into this marine-grade circuit breaker but it must be good. I use this as a master shut off for all of my auxiliary electronics in my minivan. This switch is repeatedly pressed on and off at least five to 15 times a day!I went through about 5 cheap Chinese marine-grade circuit breakers that claim to be as good as this one. However the cheap Chinese ones either kept breaking, burning out or having current leak when they are in the off position! Quality matters when you're dealing with circuit breakers especially marine-grade ones. From somebody that has wired a lot of electrical stuff this is probably the one thing you do not want to cut corners or skimp money on! You can't go wrong with anything from Blue Sea.If you're going to buy any marine-grade circuit breaker it best be this one! 5Best Solution for a Solar Panel Disconnect I use this for a solar panel disconnect. Since I needed a switch to disconnect my solar panels, I bought this which is roughly the same price as a switch and you get the bonus of have a circuit breaker. While a fuse or circuit breaker isn't necessary for solar panels, it nice to have. Pulling a fuse or a wire is not ideal since DC current sparks like crazy and is hard on connections- a proper switch is truly needed. This circuit breaker is rated for continuous duty. Blue Sea makes a less expensive one for intermittent duty. DO NOT get the cheap one if you are running current through it all the time. Get this one. Neither is the less expensive one meant to used as a switch. This one you can use as a switch and not worry about wearing it out prematurely. It looks nicer making for a more professional-looking installation. This doesn't heat up when used continuously, which means a more efficient use of electricity; a crucial consideration when solar is your only source of energy. 5my 70 amp version that normally works fine tripped at 60 I use these types of breakers for my solar projects. They come in varying sizes. It allows you to manually open and close the circuit at will without having to move wires. I use these before and after each solar charge controller. This comes in handy for maintenance, trouble shooting a system, or just turning off a portion of the system. They do trip at lower than the rating when the environment gets warmer and that is part of the design. For example, my 70 amp version that normally works fine tripped at 60.5 amps when the temp around the system was over 110F. Ideally you dont want to have the system exposed to temps in that range anyway. After exhausting the heat the breaker worked as usual again. 5I love this circuit breaker I love this circuit breaker. It looks great, works well. The studs are small considering you use battery cables on them, but it works fine. You can see the install on my Logan horse trailer--replaces a crummy little in-line breaker that came stock. 5Thank you Blue Sea System for your nice compact easy to use product Have used this product on multiple installs from marine, off-road, automotive and on sxs. Thank you Blue Sea System for your nice compact easy to use product. Would recommend Blue Sea Systems to anyone. I wish they had a product release info guide. I would like to see what else they plan on releasing. I would use in every install requiring any electrical components. Wish there was a 10 Star rating for this product or company. Recommended this product and company to many of install shops. 5
