Customer Reviews

Matches Blanco Sink Very Well, But Doesn't Fit All Disposals As others have mentioned, this product just "sits" inside your current disposal drain - it is not a flange for the disposal to connect to underneath. It allows you to match the "lip" of the drain to match the rest of the sink or your faucet. If you want the drain/stopper to match your anthracite Blanco sink, this product matches very well. Unfortunately, the product description does not mention this item only works with Insinkerator disposals which I did not learn until calling Blanco. Unfortunately, I have a Waste King disposal which Blanco does not have a stopper/strainer to fit. However, I "re-engineered" the product myself to make it work. I removed the gasket; then removed about 1/8" of plastic from the bottom of the stopper/strainer using a belt sander and wet sandpaper sponge. This enabled the product to sit all the way down in my Waste King drain. Then, I caulked the stopper/strainer onto the existing drain/flange and let it dry overnight. Looks and works just fine... 3Useful Pics and Install Info. Well, the item picture and description are worthless. Included are pictures of what actually arrives, which is basically a beautiful plastic drain and flange to cover up the stainless steel Insinkerator drain. Look for the Youtube video that explains how to install, which involves snapping it onto the existing/previous Insinkerator drain. It is plastic but the seals are tight and it matches the sink. 5Install It Right The First Time We bought this specifically to be used in the Blanco sink and Insinkerator garbage disposal for which it is made (we actually bought an Insinkerator brand disposal to be certain of compatibility). Aside from the black rubber splash guard, the brown part is actually two pieces the inner piece is the strainer with the holes and lift knob, and the outer flanged piece is an open sleeve that you push down into your disposal opening to cover its silver rim. Although the flange is plastic and the sink is a marble composite, it's a perfect color match. When I first installed it, I replaced the black splash guard that came with the disposal with the one that came with this flange kit. Then I inserted the outer sleeve into the opening and pushed down until it laid in perfectly. Then we placed the strainer in there and, if the water was running, the sink would fill up even with the strainer in the open position (you turn it one way to drop closed, the other way to lift open). When we turned off the water, we'd have to wait for the water in the sink to drain because it went through very slowly.Upon close inspection of the strainer it seemed obvious what the issue was: The holes allow the water to drop down onto a disk, and the disk is made so the water falls off the outer edge rather than through the hole in the middle. With the strainer laying in the opening, the edge of that disk touches the sides of the opening. The water can't drain off the outer edge of that disk because the disposal opening blocks it, and it can't drain through the inner hole in the middle because that hole is molded with a little "wall" to force the water to the outside. On top of that, the hole in the black rubber splash guard is...you guessed it...in the middle. So the water is expected to fall off the outer edge and the hole in the black splash guard is in the middle, together making drainage very slow. The directions say that it is VERY difficult to remove the flange once it's in there, and that is absolutely true. I called Blanco customer service to ask what the heck I was doing wrong to make the drainage so slow, and the person I spoke to had no idea what I meant when I described the disk and the walled off hole in the middle (at her request I even sent her a picture). After what was an obviously frustrating call for her, she agreed to send me another kit. Good thing, because that VERY difficult to remove flange wouldn't budge and we had to pry it out with a screwdriver which, of course, broke the flange. When the new flange arrived, we couldn't even get that flange to seat all the way down into the opening no matter how hard we pushed down. After all the frustration, my wife decided the silver disposal opening didn't look so bad after all. Now this flange kit sits in the cabinet under the sink, but I don't think it serves any purpose there. 1Bad color match, doesn't fit Insinkerator. It's black, not Anthracite. I thought that was the purpose, to match the color of the Anthracite Blanco sink? The flange is obviously black next to the dark grey sink. And it's PLASTIC! Listed new for FIFTY bucks!? I'd assumed (I know, I know) it was metal based on the price and somehow missed that fact in the reviews. Also - It doesn't fit the Insinkerator Evolution model I bought......which has a standard connection flange that's the same size as every other Insinkerator disposal. This Blanco flange is both slightly too small and plastic so it won't hold the disposal compression ring in place that secures the disposal to the underside of the sink. Such a simple product and great idea - which failed miserably. 1**IMPORTANT NOTE! This flange is designed to SNAP INSIDE of your garbage disposal's flange!!! ************IMPORTANT NOTE! This flange is designed to SNAP INSIDE of your garbage disposal's flange!!! In other words, your garbage disposal will come with an aluminum/silver colored steel flange. You will snap this Blanco flange inside of that flange and it will hide the ugly aluminum/silver color. Then, you pop this into the sink and it will match the sink. THEN, you get underneath the sink and connect the garbage disposal to the aluminum/steel flange. ***Your garbage disposal will most like NOT CONNECT directly to this plastic Blanco Flange because it fits better onto the aluminum rim flange.Lots of bad reviews saying it won't connect. Directions were poor and it took us some time to figure this all out. 5Disappointment all around So I decided to go by the 4 & 5 star reviews, and went ahead and purchased this product. Unfortunately, I'm one day past the return time limit as the garbage disposal and sink weren't ready to install until now.Our granite composite sink has a very thin recess for the flange. This component snapped on top of the flange raises it above the base of the sink and doesn't look that great. It looks aesthetically better with the default baffle removed, which makes the unit more noisy. If snapped in without their rubber baffle, you can see the flange at the base, which sticks out like a sore thumb. For us, it was a waste of $38. I like the look of it, but it unfortunately doesn't work out with our sink setup. 1Think About This I had a brand new Incinerator waste disposer installed onto my brand new Blanco Silgranit sink, so this item does fit properly by just snapping it into the disposer flange. And the color is fine, as others have mentioned. The Blanco BL441099 (Cafe Brown) has two pieces. I will call them a "flange cover" which covers the visible metal flange of the Incinerator which you can see when looking directly into your sink, and a "basket" that fits inside this cover. Here is what don't like...The problem is that it appears that you must remove the basket every time you want to use the garbage disposer. This completely exposes the grinding part of your disposer, and all the garbage you are putting into it, and it is VERY noisy, not to mention dangerous if something pops back out of the open hole. I bought the Incinerator because it is supposed to be more quiet. Which it is if you use the "Quiet Collar Sink Baffle" that comes with it. But, this piece no longer fits if you install the Blanco collar cover. Also, why bother to have a food/particle strainer at a sink where you have a garbage disposer anyway. So now you have to clean your basket, and dump the contents down the same hole that the strainer is keeping the food out of! I did not think this all the way through before buying it. Now, it makes no sense to me.If you use the Blanco flange cover, the Insinkerator baffle, no longer fits. What would make sense, is if Blanco sold the flange cover along with an Incinerator "Quiet baffle." 2Overpriced Piece of Incompatible Plastic Very disappointed with this overpriced product. It is PLASTIC and was NOT compatible with the Insinkerator disposal it is touted as being fully compatible with. Problem is that the indent at the bottom is not deep enough to hold the pressure ring from the disposal. After calling both Blanco and Insinkerator directly, we were assured this would be the best bet. Sadly, it wasn't and was returned. Instead, we found a higher quality, metal disposal strainer in the same black blanco stone-like texture for 1/4th the price, and it worked perfectly with the disposal, securely holding the pressure ring without issue. 1Four years in and only had to replace rubber splash guard Color matched our new (as of 2015) Blanco sink perfectly. Installation was pretty straightforward, though the white foam (?) gasket between the rim and the sink showed a little and tends to capture a bit of gunk over time. But overall really improved the look of the disposer drain. After about 4 years, the rubber splash guard has started to degrade (bubbling, leaving black smears as the rubber breaks down). I contacted Blanco with the item number listed here, and they were very unhelpful. They claimed that this was not actually a Blanco product, that they did not have any record of item # BL441099, that they did not carry replacement parts for any such product, and were not interested in assisting me in identifying a splash guard that would work. Not a pleasant experience on my part. After a few hours of careful measurement of the opening, I ordered a LASCO 39-9057 Replacement Splashguard via Amazon which appears to fit perfectly. I'm very pleased with Blanco's products (including the fantastic Silgranite sink we bought from them) and their previous customer service for that sink, but this time my experience was very disappointing. 5This is simply a cosmetic piece that snaps in on top of your Insinkerator stainless steel flange. Looks great. This piece is simple decoration that snaps into the existing Insinkerator flange that's used to mount your disposer. Mount the disposer normally then this piece snaps in. It's not meant to hold the disposer or be any more than a cosmetic change so your disposer flange looks like the sink material, rather than bright stainless steel. The included instructions say that if you're using an Insinkerator Evolution *Pro* series, you have to remove the OEM Insinkerator rubber splash guard from the flange and use the included Blanco one on the bottom of this trim piece, then install it.However, I was using an Insinkerator Evolution *Essential* model and these instructions don't work at all. I could not snap in the ring into the flange. So I removed the Blanco rubber stopper completely and this piece snapped in perfectly to the flange. I then pressed the Blanco rubber flange down into the Insinkerator flange from the top and it then fit perfectly.Included strainer/stopped works well, although be aware if you unscrew the nut too far, you'll undo the entire thing and the bolt will then drop into your disposer. You'll see what I mean when you attempt to unscrew the nut in the center. 5
