Good Lord. The power of a Super-Nova beaming out of your forehead. The Downside first since that's what you probably want to read.Well...If any i'd say It's slightly complicated to use, you're going to have to give it a good run through each time you take it out. Also, you know you have a light on your head..its a bit big but not any larger than the rest on the market in the same class but not bothersome at all, probably not for joggers. For the good:Super super solid construction and feel. VERY NICE in a day in age when everything feels like its made from recycled toilet paper. WOW this thing is bright....I mean bright...i'm not completely convinced its not somehow nuclear powered. This thing is so bright if you look at it you not only go blind you go deaf as well. If you're like me and like the red and green lights for the night and accidentally turn on the white then just take a seat for half an hr unless you have a cane or seeing eye dog lol. It has a very secure latch system (pictured) that i really can't ever see opening by accident even if dropped. 4 colored lights for you night hikers like me and at any brightness level including strobe, rubberized material where you need to grip, easily adjustable headband, 3 YEAR WARRANTY, Waterproof, dustproof, tilts way down to point almost directly down. I've been using headlamps for yrs and most are cheaply made but I was really surprised by not only the settings and capabilities which are amazing but the feel of it, it just feels solid like quality, sadly that doesn't come through in pictures. I'd easily say i'd rather have this on than my Petzl. If you're on the fence about it like i was i'd say don't be. Also mind was delivered in 3 days. 5Lasted the full 8 hours of America's Toughest Mudder. ... Lasted the full 8 hours of America's Toughest Mudder. Inside stayed completely dry despite being submerged in water, mud and lots of rain. If you need a waterproof headlamp, this is the one! 5Tested and Approved in Real World Situation... Before purchasing my Headlamp I did hours of research. I went on an Elk Hunting trip to Colorado and needed an element proof headlamp that I could count on with my life literally on the line. I am a "prepper" and I strive to buy the very best products that will last for long periods of down time... The trip to Colorado required IMHO, the best equipment available and I can attest that this headlamp was AWESOME!!! With freezing temperatures (snow and sleet) the headlamp never once failed to illuminate and the design and features of one touch color change and dimming, kept me from blinding my buddy. Most people are concerned about just having a bright, high lumen light, and never consider that they will be blinding another person when they talk to them. The dimming feature on this light was a simple touch away and believe me, my fingers at times, were so cold it was all I could do to even make a fist. Yes i had gloves, but that is another review at another time... I have put the "Storm" to the test, in a real life and death situation, and it came out on top! Cant wait till next year... 5Nice Bright Light with handy dimmer capabilities! I bought this to replace my old black diamond that somehow went missing. This one is brighter along with added green and blue Led lights. However, after replacing the first set of batterieswith fresh ones, the light switch malfunctioned resulting in having no control of lamp brightness or colors. I contacted Black Diamond via email and filed a warranty claim, including my Amazon receiptand a photo of the headlamp.. They immediately responded, sending a new complete Storm to my house withing 3 days..Now that is customer service at its best!!I am hoping that the new headlamp gives me years of illumination. 5Pretty good. Room for improvement. Overall makes for a great camping headlamp. Definitely some room for improvement.Things I like:- Can go very bright- Love the red, blue, and especially green colors- Does the job wellThings I don't like:- Makes a super-annoying buzzing sound when it's on- Feels bulky (4 AAA batteries may have something to do with this)- Mechanism to open/close the case feels gimmicky (hope it lasts)- Would prefer to have at least 2 separate buttons. Single button operation sometimes makes for some very annoying & frustrating experiences. 3Amazing headlight! Very bright! Awesome! Super bright! Very durable. Comfortable! Has a little pad behind the light so the plastic isn't against your head. Has a super bright setting, "powertap", that is easily turned on by a side button that you touch. Easy to go from low light to max light and back quickly. Very awesome light dimming feature for all the lights (main light, side light, red, green and blue) allows you to get your optimal brightness setting very easily. Will keep last setting you were on when you turn it off and on again. Easy locking feature so it won't turn on accidentally in your pack or something. Has a tiny battery level indicator light that is on for a few seconds when you turn it on. Doesn't weigh very much with the batteries in it. Takes four AAA, and has an easy to open but effective locking mechanism so your battery compartment won't come open. Good Water proof seal, though I've only gotten it wet, not submerged it. Only potential con is that it's a little confusing at first to figure out how to get to every setting. I took a picture or the instructions so you can see for yourself. Also included are videos of some of the feature including the power tap and dimming settings. The pictures are of battery light (little green light below main light), size, rotation angle and brightness comparison to my other headlamp, a 100 lumen LED. Amazing light! Would highly recommend it to anyone! Worth the money! 5Very good light and good price I bought this light to replace a light I had lost using for work. I sometimes work outside and in the dark or just dark areas. This light worked great as it has a great throw(distance with a semi tight beam) and a good battery life being it has different lighting levels it work out great. I use everyday and hasn't let me down. I didn't notice if you touch one side it changes beam intensity. kind of like a dimmer there is no button for this just a design on the side. At first thought something was wrong with light as when I touched it it would go dim and then bright again. But once I found out it was a feature it comes in handy. All in all I like the light. I will say not as bright as my last one but its pretty close. I'll also say for me it has way to many features like different color LED's (red, green, blue) that I'll never use. But still I think it was worth the purchase price. It uses 4 aaa batteries. and they seem to have a good life. Using everyday for sometimes 20 to 30 min at a time multiple times a day I got close to a month from the batteries. If your looking for a slimmer lighter weight light I would go with another light this is a little on bulky side but for me not an issue. I wear around a hard hat. But I would think if you are using to run with I recommend a lighter/smaller one. Good for Camping and things of that nature. but I would recommend this light. 4This headlamp is a beast After misplacing my old Black Diamond Storm (the previous generation model) I got this one. This headlamp is a beast. Much brighter than the previous build, and the controls are the same, yet different. The upgraded lighting design is smarter, with more features, but with the same familiar controls as the last one. The low light/night vision now features blue and green as well as the red colored light. All dimmable and with a strobe setting. The max brightness setting is spot and proximity both maxed on high. Super super bright headlamp. The new design is more compact/not as bulky as the previous build, and looks better overall. The battery compartment has a quick release latch instead of the old metal screw. Still as waterproof as ever. Better padded head strap, the headlamp itself has a smaller profile, which makes it lighter and more secure when active in the field. All lighting modes have memory, strobe, and are dimmable which conserves the battery. Compared to the older BD Storm, this is an impressive and sleek upgrade to an already top notch piece of gear. Waterproof rated to be fully submerged 1 meter for 30 minutes so it will last through any and all weather conditions. Comes with 3 year manufacturer warranty. 5Powerful, Made to Last After extensive research I found this to be one of the top products. I bought this item before I left for my annual military training and was excited to break it in during tactical exercises. The only doubt that I had came due to the price tag but the value greatly outweighs the cost of the item.I needed a headlamp that was relatively small/ lightweight, had Separate R/B/W colored lens that I could control manually and separately. This met and exceeded my expectations. The memory function was useful in situations where i either had to have dim light or no light and often switched between the two during "stealthy" operations. I could rave about my headlamp for days but all you need to know is that it is a good buy if you like multifunctional tools that are pretty easy to use (who doesn't?). I've had the item for a few months now; I haven't used it as much since I returned from training, but I know it's going to be a blessing with the threat of hurricane Irma. I did not experience any trouble/issue with the headband as others had mentioned in their reviews. I have not had to use the strobe tool and I don't really know what the green light is for... Enjoy you're new toy/tool! 5Finally picked a headlamp, and love it! Bought this for hikes/backpacking, climbing, regular house stuff, and so far, I am very impressed. Many people give the Storm a bad rap due to how "confusing" the settings are for it only takes a minute to memorize the functions. I like the smooth design for it looks awesome and durable in the rain. The straps are easy to adjust, batteries are easy to access even though their is a water-proofying assembly in place to protect the batteries. I like the fact it has red, green and blue lights.I also really like how you can turn on the brightest setting for either the white or colored lights through a side button, kind of like an on/off switch, you don't really see that in most headlamps. If you do not want to jump from the lowest light setting to the brightest using the max/low side button, you can hold down on the power button for the light to gradually lower to the lowest setting then as long as you're holding down on it, it will go from lowest all the way to the brightest (example do,re,mi,fa,so,la,ti,do, instead of do,do, like the side button).Another great this about this headlamp, is the fact that you can switch it from a flood light to a spot light, thanks to the two white LEDs. When you use the white LEDs, when switching it to the max-brightness setting, both the spot and flood lights will turn on together! Sweet!A lot of headlamps are uncomfortable when just a tad bit bulky or heavy, and some people have said that this was an issue with the Storm, but I don't notice it. The Storm even has a pad that goes inbetween the lamp itself and your head in order to make the headlamp comfortable to wear! For S.O.S, you just turn on the light, on any setting (color, spot, flood...), then triple tap the power button on top. Yes, it is pretty cool you can S.O.S with the different lights. Many people don't see any use for that, but I can see how, like signaling friends for example. The battery-life seems to be solid! I was going to buy a micro-usb rechargable headlamp, but many of them weren't for me due to price or their short battery lives, plus there are so many positive reviews of the Storm online!Aaand "Storm" is a GREAT name for a headlamp, and it really suits this headlamp with all it's features! To sum it all up, great battery life, very fair price, variety of color LEDs and settings, water-proof, stylish and comfortable! 5
