Customer Reviews

Great for adult coloring books! I bought these to use for adult coloring and have been loving them. The range of colors is pretty good, though I would like to see a dark red/burgundy instead of the 3 near-identical dark plum colors. (See my color chart.) The Polynesian Purple also comes out looking almost blue, so I think the set lacks a good, clean purple in general. However, they color smoothly and I've used them on several different types of paper in several different books now. They WILL bleed through the back, but usually not onto the next page. (I still keep a blank paper between pages.) They're perfect for mandalas because they can fit into tiny spaces but don't overlap too badly coloring larger areas either. There is a very mild odor the first time you use them, but I've noticed it fading away the more they've been exposed to air.I was in love with my Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens for awhile, but I find myself preferring these now due to their versatility, wider range of colors, and being just wide enough to color a bit faster. I'm considering getting ultra-fine Sharpies to fill in some of the gaps in the color range. 5perfect pens for grown up coloring, but colors do bleed. Great pens! I love the color variety and the dark saturation, as well as the fine points to get small details. My only warning is that the ink will bleed if you keep the tip in one place too long, especially the dark colors. You need to color quickly and with a light touch or the color may bleed out of the lines. It will also bleed through to whatever is under it so make sure to have a thicker paper under as a buffer. I keep my coloring pages in a manilla folder and use that as the under layer. The attached picture is done with these pens, aside from a few lighter areas done with colored pencil. Even the lightest of the pen colors is quite saturated so any highlights will need to be done with pencil. 4Good markers for non serious doodlists I got these markers for my adult coloring book. Overall I really like them! They are great for doodling and coloring/drawing detailed pictures. I gave it 4/5 stars because the range of colors within the set is lacking. Also they bleed through terribly. See the picture below for an example of the bleeding. 4Most awesome markers ever! If you are into adult coloring books, these are the markers you want. They are similar to the fine point Sharpies in the shape of the tip and the amount of ink that comes out, but these markers are much truer to the color of the cap and, unlike Sharpies, have true pastel colors. I love Sharpies, but they tend to be a lot darker color than the cap. If you apply medium pressure, a lot of ink will come out onto the paper, but if you have a soft touch, you can get into really small spots with these markers. Combine these with the BIC fine point (really should be called wide-tip) markers and you are set (the ultra fine points are not great for large areas -- you need the larger tip markers for that). They have a great selection of colors, especially the lighter ones. Plus, they come in a really great case that opens up and is perfect for traveling. 5Lovely fine tip, bright markers - but they do bleed I bought these to use in adult coloring books, and they have worked really well. They come in a convenient fold-out type case that keeps the markers in order. The colors are great both in the range and in how vivid and bright they are.The markers are also quite fine tipped, which helps when coloring smaller areas and corners.I use these for detailed work, and BIC Marking Permanent Marker Fashion Colors, Fine Point, Assorted Colors, 36-Count when coloring larger areas - the two packs contain the same colors. My one complaint is that these markers do bleed quite badly through even high quality paper, so they aren't suitable for two-sided coloring books. They also tend to feather or creep just a little on some paper, meaning if you get a little too close to the line the color will bleed across. So it takes a steady hand if coloring very detailed pictures.I am happy with how my pictures have turned out using these markers. Colors bright and bold and a good selection. I would buy them again. 4Check for dupes and missing colors 7/18/19 Update: Bic mailed me the 2 missing colors! Received today. So my rating is now 5 stars. This wasn't so much an Amazon issue as it was Bic but the item was still sold here. Bic has handled any inquiryvery quickly, which I greatly appreciate. I'm glad they resolved this as it turns out the item is not returnable thru Amazon as I previously thought. Oh, and I don't have to send back the dupes. 7/14/19 Original review: First, despite the 3 stars I LOVE these markers, which is why I'm disappointed. Second, I will be updating this review/rating when my issue is sorted. I just contacted Bic thru their website regarding a quality control issue with dupes & missing colors. Unfortunately, this happened previously in February when I purchased a different set at Sam's club. They rectified the matter by mailing me the missing color, a letter & 3 coupons, so I am hoping for a similar outcome here.Still, I want to give a suggestion to check for duplicates and missing colors. With this order thru Amazon, I received dupes of Tuxedo Black & Moonstone Yellow, while I'm missing Summer Melon & Woodsy Brown. Some other reviewers have the list/pics of colors for reference. These are great markers. I just want what I was expecting at the time of purchase, which is 36 different colors. If Bic doesn't sort this within the return window, I will contact Amazon for resolution. 5My go to markers for my adult coloring books. My go to markers for my adult coloring books. I love that they have 3 tones of the different colors, it makes for good shading effects. The color comes out on the page slightly darker than is ends up being once it is completely dry. The ink colors smoothly and there is very little if any streaking unless you are coloring a large area and even then is minimal. I have been able to blend colors together by coloring darker over lighter tones while the lighter ink is still damp, but you have to be quick since it dries fairly quickly. I will say the color indicators, the clip, barrel band and end tip, on the pens themselves are not an accurate match to the ink on paper. No two colors are exact matches but some are very close, the darkest greens and the berry and the plum come to mind. Some of the light tones could be lighter, but compared to similar types of markers I am happy to have them. The ultra fine tips are good for most fine details, however like most alcohol markers they do bleed some. So you do have to be careful getting close to the lines as they could spread color beyond the line. They will definitely bleed through to the other side of the page on any of the paper i have had in a coloring book. I don't use them in books that have images on both sides of the page. I don't count this as a negative because it is the nature of the coloring medium not just this specific brand. The tri-fold storage container works really well form and helps to keep them organized and protected. It is sturdy and in the several months of regular use has not shown any wear and tear yet.I have also used Sharpie ultra fine point markers and I like the Bic better for range of color and smoothness in application, that said they are vary similar. I have a 24 set of the Sharpies that does have a few colors not in the Bic set, most notably neon colors. If I could only have one set of markers, the Bic Mark-it Ultra Fine would be the set I would choose.I have attached a couple page I colored with the Bics. The fourth image was an attempt at blending the markers together. I am pretty happy with the results. 5I love these for coloring I don't know why, but I had never really considered these or Sharpies before for artwork. I love these for coloring. they can draw a fine line, but like any ink marker, if you leave it in one place too long it will pool. They did bleed through the page, but the solution is simple. Either get a piece of printer paper, or if you don't have any of that, most coloring books have a blank page at the back. Cut or rip it out and put it behind the page you are working on. Also makes it easier to find the page you are working on. I love that these markers are so vibrant! The pictures are from Adult Coloring Book: Stress Relieving Patterns 5Nice Markers! I purchased these to use with some adult coloring books. They have great colors, but the colors do bleed and feather. If you are using these to color you will want to put something behind the page as it will bleed through. I won't be able to use on books that have art on both sides of the page. I used them on the Johanna Basford Secret Garden Postcard book and that paper is thick enough that it does not completly go through (see photo), but I would imagibe on most books the pens will go through. The picture included is done with these pens with the exception of one flower which is in pencil. The name of the color is on MOST of the pens. There were 5 in the set that did NOT have name on the marker. The color names ARE all listed on the package so you can match up the ones that are missing. Overall a good set of markers. I may not get to use them for as much coloring as I had hoped but they are nice markers and the pastel color range is great with these. 4A great starter marker set, almost as good as Prismacolors I ordered these markers based upon other reviewers and suggestions for pairing with coloring books. The markers have a fine tip that allows you to color in small sections well, and also larger sections without taking too long. I have used these a bit on fabric and shiny surfaces, but they are best used on standard paper. The grip is comfortable, with a rubber band around the middle of each pen so that the marker does not slip as you work. The variety of colors is good for any beginner colorist or artist. When I order more, I will definitely be getting a pack with more colors. There are a few markers that are far too dark or far to light to use in most circumstances. The brighter colors are vibrant. For the most part, the markers have lasted well (the seafoam green marker died early) over a period of months, coloring in a few coloring books. The markers WILL BLEED through most paper, so make sure you protect surfaces underneath what you are currently working on.The packaging of this product is smart. You can unfold open the plastic flaps and very easily see your palette of colors. This makes for great travel. After a few months, once I was familiar with the colors, I threw out the plastic case and carried the markers in a small pencil case instead because it was more convenient for me. 5
